September 16th 1991, Bee hive on Lower Queen Anne here in Seattle. It was the Nevermind CD release party. I was there for part of it. I didn't think to much of it at the time.

Glad i saw them when i did. I may be 40 but in those days i was 22 and the new music ruled. Anything similar to those days would have to be the British Invasion of the 60s. Everything was new again. Good times.

Well said. Kurt is my idol. He's one of those people (Going by what he went through as a kid) That tenfolds the meaning of the phrase "You can be anything you want" He's one of the main ones... I respect Kurt like hell man. I sometimes say those things, either to be honest, a test or to piss people off..

yeah on the underground, check out sub pop records (its still going strong) they usually sign the most succesful indie acts. The Thermals, Rogue Wave, Decemberist etc they all came from subpop. and kill rock stars. Check out local record labels too, and go to shows. I think kurt would have been so happy to know he turned alot of people on to underground music.

kurt already predicted that big corporations would monopolize the industry of rock. He was right. All the mainstream sucks nowadays, the final of 90's still was okey, but this last decade was more than horrible. we need more than always a punk revolution, and we need it NOW

yeah, it used to be the old peaches on 45th, but was renamed 'beehive' at this time. paul might be thinking of tower on queen anne. two things ill always remember, all the folks blatantly stealing cd's while the show was going on, and kurt hunched against the exterior wall after the show, bumming cigs.

@DeluxeReihossue You're welcome. I'm aware how good bands can go by unnoticed by the mainstream, Not many have heard of Flipron for example. I think Flipron should be more well known, Although some of their newer songs aren't quite as good they're unique enough for today. "Raindrops Keep Falling On The Dead" Is what one might expect to hear in a haunted carnival.

1991-1994 was a high time for the music charts but its going to be a long time before the charts are like that again because the music industry is based on one thing: Money. That doesn't mean that music has ceased to exist (Except for closed minded people) If it doesn't sell it won't be heard. You might think that good music would sell, but no. People are too content living with music from the past to look towards the future.

Oh yeah and Nirvana weren't 1 of the first bands out there either. They were one of he first to sell-out to a mainstrean record label @ get millions of dolars. But there were way more B4 nirvana. Again watch HYPE. People(not u) try to be cool and say yeah i knew grunge since the beginng when in fact it has been going on since the early 80's and there were influences even before that 2 like: MC5, King crimson, The wipers. U should listen to them as well. C-ya

I guess man. U should watch HYPE Grunge documentary. Nirvana (as well as other bands)hated that label. They didn't cum up w/ the name, british journalist did. They considered themselves a weird punk band. Once u label something u restrict it 2 only that. Same reason y Sex pistols hated being called punk or Led Zepplin being called Metal. Y there r great bands out there w/out being labeled:Tool, Primus, Radiohead, etc.Nirvana branched out 2 more than just grunge. U should read up on it sumtime.

Like punk, metal, reggae, ska, folk, psychedelic etc. They all have had their hey-day. Let it rest guys. It's time for something new. Only reason u guys still want it is cause it died early and u want more. If kurt didn't die and it still went on, u guys would be like"enough is enough" Just like what happened 2 all the other music i listed here.Bye
