Kind of funny the way the video starts off with Dave and Krist laughing and joking and then cuts directly to Kurt slamming his head into a speaker cabinet. He's not even trying to be subtle about the way he feels, and then School plays and it's just so powerful.

They'd already signed to Geffen and recorded "Nevermind" in May and June of 1991, and they were over in Europe playing festivals halfway down the bill (as they had done for a couple of years by then) when this was filmed. They were back in the US doing the first "Nevermind" tour when "Nevermind" and "Smells Like Teen Spirit" were released in September, but their schedule had them back touring in Europe in November (when things really started going crazy "back home"). Kurt had definitely met Courtney Love when this film was, and if his infamous comment on UK TV show "The Word" is anything to go by - things were happening there by early November.

I just watched the 88 live version of this, it is amazing how good it was in 88 and how it can be so so much better a few years later. No Acne and such a commanding presence. I feel bad for people who don’t love nirvana because they’re missing out on a very unique kind of joyz

ive just listened to Bleach version and my opinion is the song is more powerful with tempo Chad is playing it at and his drumming is immaculate... anyone can thrash a tune/rhythm to make it superficially more intense...im a drummer from that 'scene/era' so I know what im on about
