If you notice, the room had no movement. I remember when he started this song with the opening, everyone was silent. It was a little bit like a trance that everyone was in. Totally silent. No noise as they played. It really wasn't like any other show I had been to before. I'll never forget that night in New York. Flying home after an amazing nirvana show.

Also it wasn't open to a public audience its not like they sold tickets. So unless you have solid proof I don't believe it because all unplugged venues are either just MTV producers\workers or companies that promote the band. No photos no proof

We still have God/love, even if you don’t believe in God, just understand love and kindness exists and there alone we can meet eye to eye. I can't say for sure, but I would assume the reason is because it was an "unplugged" set. Drums can be overpowering even at the best of times, and if you listen you can hear them creeping in louder than they should be (for this set anyway) quite a few times before he catches it and dials back.

It sounds different because it uses a scale rarely found in most Western popular music - the Mixolydian mode. It does appear in psychedelic rock quite a lot though - because of its ambiguous sound (is it happy or sad sounding?). Modern music you hear in the charts almost never strays outside of major and minor scales.

I know arguing in a Nirvana comment section is stupid, but you don't understand how technology works. Just because physical instruments aren't used doesn't mean there isn't any less creativity or skill put into the music. Putting together melodies and writing lyrics is just as hard as it was back then. Computers (at least right now) cannot do all the work required of an artist or band. Also, he accomplished so much more than a lot of 27 year-olds back then as well. It's not like people became magically more lazy after your generation. That's just the tendency of the old to call the new generation lazy. Back when books were new and commonly used, the old philosophers thought people would become too stupid to retain information in their heads now that they could just write it down whenever. Same thing is going on now with phones and computers.

@PlankShard Well said, the more things change the more they stay the same. A lot of people look down on my generation as lazy but even with advances in technology we deal with a lot of challenges that previous generations didn’t, especially with regards to mental health and competition. The divide in classes is larger than ever and now with shortening attention spans due to the structure of social media internet fame is short lived, so it’s honestly even harder to stand out for long. This does not discount how impressive and influential Kurt Cobain and Nirvana were, however imo.

One of the few songs in the world I prefer live. A guy I work with is married to a woman who knew Nirvana before they were famous, and she said one night at a party, Kurt was sitting all alone in a corner holding a beer and not smiling or anything. She said for him to come on, get up, have some fun. Kurt looked at her and simply said, “I don’t know how to.” After hearing that story, the lyric hits differently when he says, “I wish I was like you - easily amused.”

Kurt la guardò e disse semplicemente: "Non so come." Dopo aver ascoltato quella storia, il testo suona in modo diverso quando dice: "Vorrei essere come te - divertito facilmente". Quindi fondamentalmente era un imbronciato in cerca di attenzioni

I was at this show and got a ticket through the fan club. We were sitting at the side of the stage and Kurt kindly came down to give some autographs after the show (I didn't manage to get one, unfortunately). It makes me feel old to watch this because Kurt gets to stay 27 forever and the rest of us got old! What's interesting to me is that at the time, we didn't feel as though we were witnessing one of the greatest shows of all time. It was amazing show and certainly unique to hear the band play an acoustic set (and covers) in contrast to their loud sets and albums. Nirvana was big then but they really exploded in popularity after Kurt died.

I agree. My high school was going to New York. So I was going to New York. Me and I think 2 others had gotten tickets, but we didn't know either. When we walked in, we had no clue that we were fixing to witness one of the best days ever in music history. It wasnt a memory it was a moment. I had been a super fan of his sinve 4th grade. So anuways I got into a debate on here about the whole AIC and how they were the heaviest unplugged and the heaviest period. I love AIC too but they didn't go to either show so.. With that being said, I explained.. Have you ever seen them in concert? Have you actually seen the videos for teen spirit? Or maybe even listened to Nevermind or In Utero? Had they seen this, yes Layne Staley was a great singer and like Janis Joplin he was as flamboyant as he was tragic. I told them yes, Alice in Chains was heavy but dont think for one second that neither was Nirvana! Also had they ever heard of Soundgarden or Mother Lovebone? I told them kurt cobaine was in no way form or fashion to put in any category as who was heavier and more like metal, him or Layne Staley.. Just like Chris Cornell, who could possibly compare him to.anyone, he had a four octave voice!! The guy did not comment. When Kirt died,.i will neber forget where I was at. My dad died 2 years ago this April on the same day. It just really bothered me that we were comparing how unheavy Nirvana was or was not. It also bothered me deeply when Chris Cornell was also gone. Because in between the two was Layne Staley. The guy could only like my comment because he was not there for any of thise. And to see David Grohl not being able to beat the drums at all and bang his head, I bet when he left there he had to beat the shit oit of something. I actually got an autograph, but my brother got mad at me, he was younger and he tore it up. Way neyond repair. I had a fake ID back then, not that I ever did need it, because I was and still am a pretty creature at we will say 40 because I refuse to say I'm.older lol. Anyways I love to see that you were also there to witness one of the most incredible music moments ever in music history. I will also say Idk about you, but it was a wonderful feeling to be there, and it was better feeling than I have ever, and have yet to experience. I can't describe it as church because I have never felt that good at church. When I got to see Nirvana this time, it was my 4th time seeing them live. It was just unexpected. This year wr celebrate Kurt being 27 years young forever.. Its his 25th anniversary death on April 5, the same day that my fatjer passed, it will be 2 years. I already habe a playlist and also im pretty sure that Kurts birthday was the 19th today or the 20th tomorrow, I will habe to fact check this but anyways happy birthday Kurt! Pretty sure I am not wrong! He was pisces the fish which you can tell from his kindness and also his emotional ways, he was such a special creature. ✌ my friend! Its a shame what brothers do to their sisters when they het mad lol. Some things can not ne replaced but I live everyday not to make memories, instead to habe MOMENTS. thank you for sharing. ❤❤

With my parents, we used to go to a restaurant in the mountains near the French Riviera. We used to listen to it when going to it. I was young and my parents would spend way too much time at the restaurant. So they were giving me the keys of the car, a Lexus with an opening roof. I would going to the car, playing Nirvana Unplugged, and just laying down in the backseat, looking at stars through the roof, for hours. I was maybe ten at the time. Since, my parents divorced and my life went batshit. But this, it stays, and it is a memory that nobody can steal from me. This voice means so much, for so many people.

I know many love their guitar gods, and they have their place, but guys like Kurt, Paul, and John, understood that you dont have to be a technically great guitarist, or write complicated songs, to make great ones. I always found all three of those guys to be chorus geniuses. They all had a knack of writing catchy ones that really made awesome songs. Lastly, all of them, and moreso Kurt in this case, had amazing voices. I remember being a kid, listening to Nirvana, and my father thinking their music, and especially Kurts voice, being almost vulgar lol. What he couldnt get is that even a scream can be melodic, and Kurt had that in spades. I also love his voice when its more toned down. He could do anything with it, and is without question, one of the greatest voices of all time.

Generally speaking I have a high level of disdain for conspiracy theories, but have you ever truly looked at all the evidence surrounding his case? It's not even humanly possible to commit suicide in the manner he supposedly did. There isn't a person alive who could inject that amount of heroin and still remain conscious. We're talking two and a half syringes filled to the brim. Even the most hardcore addicts wouldn't have the tolerance necessary to retain the motor control needed to get through the second one, let alone go back for a third, then operate a firearm. Even the former chief of police in Seattle now admits the investigation was botched and needs to be reopened.
