This series is so good and informative. Thanks Liz
Holding the nippers wrong. Whew, good info. That and the whole creating callous by over nipping. So glad you’re doing these videos. Can’t wait for the gel application to see what I’ll learn there!!
Fantastic information! This has been an issue since I started working in salons 30 years ago. And seriously, who "thumbs down" great information?? ❤💅
🤯🤯🤯 Underhanded grip on the nippers. Cuticle game forever changed.

I'm watching this now and currently doing training at a salon and literally, the biggest advice the nail techs have given me there is "Don't be afraid (to cut cuticles)." But absolutely NO ONE teaches me the correct method to do it, how to hold the tool properly, etc. But they expect be to cut the cuticle correctly and efficiently.

Should I cut cuticles while it's moistened with cuticle remover, water, etc. Or should I cut it when it's dry? Thank you so very much for your videos
This series is awesome! I was taught in school to hold my nippers over hand, I’m going to practice under handed, definitely looks easier!
I've been holding my cuticle nippers incorrectly all this time 😅😅 thank you so much for all the knowledge once again! Learned a great deal as usual ❤
Another great video! I appreciate you sharing about how to hold the cuticle nippers. I was holding my cuticle nippers incorrectly. And i have noticed that I would sometimes clip my skin with the back end of the nipper blade. :-/ Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Thank you so much for this video and the one prior. I am a manicurist for 29 yrs and am always open to learning. I feel like there isn't enough for us. I love the way you teach. Thank you!!!
This video is the holy grail! This process was "glazed over" in cos school. Smh Thanks 4 sharing! I feel more confident in cuticle removal now 🙌

yours too? I feel like what I've learned over the years watching Liz and other amazing nail artists is exponentially better than anything I learned in school. I have noticed that many things were glazed over and its sad to know nail techs just coming out of school get even less information nowadays

I agree!! My tutor never went into this much detail and it’s a really tricky and important part to the nails!!
This vid was excellent for anyone doing nails. If you are licensed just remember to check with your state on what they allow so that you are working within the scope of your license.
We could use a video on bitten nails, how to nip them, how to take care of them, how to put gel on them...
You deserve much, MUCH more subscribers than you currently already have 🤔 I love this series you're doing now and am watching every minute of it!! Have learned a couple things that I didn't know yet. Thank you for all this free knowledge Elizabeth!!😊❤
You deserve an award for these videos! Soo soo important and helpful. THANK YOU
The salon I work at is drill free , & I have been searching the web for a video like this! I knew I did not have a good understanding of nippers and this video just saved me! I am so much more confident and thank you so much for this video it’s perfect and just what I needed!!!!
Great video so thorough in your descriptions. I to was holding my nippers incorrectly, so thank you, also going through the stages of file first then nip is great advice, I would love you to extend this into how to sanatize nippers ,tools ect, different form of santization what products to use what not to use. Thanks again. Cheers from Australia🌺🙂🐨
So much quality content here! Iv been doing my own nails for 30 years and came across a lot of this information the hard way, WHERE WERE YOU WHEN I NEEDED YOUUUUU????😀😘😃
Literally have been trying to look for a video that explains all of this! Thank you so much for taking the time to create this video and sharing it!
soooo satisfying ... i think i could watch cuticle fixing for hours ... another great training / helping video!!!
Great info, I’m really enjoying these teaching videos. 👍🏻💕
Wow! My mind was blown when i saw how the correct way to use the cuticle nipper! So awesome. I tried it and works so much better! Thanks! Glad I found this video! 😊

Thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos!!!!!
Thank you for the info. I've been using the nippers wrong for ages. Love your videos.
Amazingly Informative Video again ! Thank you so much for this serie 🙏❤ I can't believe how not up to date certain "nail/cosmetology schools/teachers" are 😨😐
Very well presented, interesting and informative. Love it, so glad I stumbled across you!
I don't nip but i am living for these videos! The quality of footage AND information is really great
I can't thank you enough for all what you are showing us. Thank you 💕

Loving this videos Elizabeth! Really good and in depth!
Thank u so much. I am just starting to learn about nails and I love your channel 🌷
This was perfect for me. I'm a mom and my daughter and son have huge cuticles that tear and bleed and I was afraid to use the scissors to trim them to prevent this. But now I'm pretty confident that I'll be able to do it safely and correctly. thank you!
Thank you for this!!! I can’t believe I’ve been doing this wrong for. While now. I god I still have time to change! Thank you!
I love the way you speak it’s very professional!!!!!! And you never seem to stutter lol. Very addicting channel lol
Hi Liz, I've recently qualified as a nail tech! Along side my course I have been watching your fundermentals videos. I feel they have helped me a lot and just wanted to say Thank You! I love how you explain things in detail while still making things easy to understand. So thanks again for sharing your knowledge, you really made a difference. Xxx

I've always wanted to learn the correct way! Thanks for this!
This is so useful- especially the part about how to hold the cuticle nippers
Thanks for such great information. Keep the videos coming!💜💜💜🌺🌺🌺😃
I’m so thankful that you are providing such responsible and ethical nail care.... I stepped away from the spa industry because I disagreed with a number of parts of treatments, I’m so happy more and more Estheticians are following a more ethical route...🙏🏾
I’m loving this series 🌼
As far as general use, how to hold the nippers for sure, you explained & showed it great.... Better than my instructor at school! I'm excited to invest in a pair or two of good quality small nippers!
Thank you so much for spending time for help us 😮😀👍🏼
🎉🎉🎉🎉 You're a rockstar!!! These videos are fabulous and your style and professionalism is so on point! You are a huge asset to our industry ❤️

Wow I've been holding them wrong all my life, just tried your way and it's so much easier! Thank you 💓
Love how informative you are thank you!!!!
So helpful and now I know how to do it properly !
Could you do a video showing someone with bad cuticles and cleaning that up? Your cuticles are pretty nice on their own! Your video was great and super informative (I am a professional nail tech but still pretty new, and not very confident with challenging cases.) The ladies I work with don’t think I take enough off the sides, but honestly, I’m not exactly sure what they mean. Is there cuticles on the sides of the nail? I’ve watched them work, and they go all around the nail and it looks smooth and clean when they are done, but I can’t tell what they are cutting....Thank you so much for this series! It’s really helpful to me to be a better nail tech! Most of the cuticle nipping videos out there aren’t very good or knowledgeable. Oh, and I work in a spa environment, so we only do the natural nail, no enhancements.

Stephanie Coyle except she literally IS a professional, trying to do better work. typically trade schools get you licensed but you gotta do the heavy lifting yourself to pick up the bits of information you weren’t given like this person is trying to do. idk why youre on a high horse wit this woman cause YOU ain’t a nail tech at all period. lol

Thank you for these videos I'm a nail tech and I still crave learning
The best videos that I saw . Thank you soooooooo much
I’ve been doing my own nails for 35 years - always used the cuticle scissors. I’ve tried to use the nippers but I found them too fiddly. I’m glad that you didn’t push for one or the other - as long as the cuticle is cut safely. Great videos, thank you.
So glad to have found you 💕💜
Best nail videos. So educational. Thank you
Tfs! This is very informative. I’m learning a lot with you 👏🏻👌🏻
As a compulsive skin picker that’s hacks and tweezes my cuticles *correction hyponychium this has been so useful I have really ruined my nails because of this illness- callous, brittle, ridged, bulbous and sore! But understanding the anatomy & not removing too much like we were encouraged to do when studied beauty therapy a fair years back at college is really helpful in my journey to recovery from dermatolomania 💓
This is great information and help!! I'm going to practice, practice, practice!!
This video was so informative and I wish that the salons in my area would be this thoughtful. The techs I have had just keep cutting until I bleed. I've changed techs/salons so many times and also have gotten to the point where I tell techs to not cut my cuticles. Hopefully more techs and schools are seeing your videos so they see the errors of their ways.

Yikes!
I'd just like to say thank you *so* much for putting out this series of videos. I've been slowly progressing through these over the last week, because I've found myself in the situation that I'm sure a lot of people are now where I can no longer go to get my nails done professionally due to Covid-19 isolation requirements. In my case I've also got sensory nerve damage that means that I cannot type on my fingertips anymore so it's extremely important that I strengthen my nails in order to be able to type on them instead - I'm a software developer so if my nails break I can't type and therefore I can't work. Both my husband and I are at very high risk of life-threatening symptoms from Covid-19, so we're likely to have to stay isolated until either a vaccine or better treatment options become available which I'd guess will be at least another year before I could go back to getting them done professionally. So I'm having to learn how to do them properly myself at home without abrading the skin by over-filing, etc - as I've done the last few times I've tried to do them. I've been learning a *ton* from these videos, so thank you!
This is a awesome video. Glad I found your channel. I hope you start posting again!
Thank you so much.. I love your videos. Very detailed and very informative.
I struggle with this, thank you for this video ❤

Omg i know this off point but I just Noticed the figurines from The Labyrinth!! Awesome!! Great video too!!
Love your videos and love the Labrinth characters in the background!!! Love that movie!!!
Great explanations!
Hi, amazing video as all the others. very informative indeed. would live to see how you handle cuticle and prep nails of severe nail biters and what tips and tricks you use to increase the likelyhood of nail enhancements sticking for at least 3 weeks. tia xxx looking forward for more videos
Wow! 2nd video of yours I am watching! Learning more from you than I learnt from my beauty school training back in 2006! P.S. I am from South Africa :-)
I love how you explain everything so perfectly 💖 I think I prefer scissors. They make me feel more confident, as I believe I have more control with them. I’d love to practice on someone other than myself, but I have no one willing to be my guinea pig.... Thank you again for a wonderful lesson 💖💖💖😘
Thank you, a lot, for these vlogs.

You are a fantastic teacher and your vids have helped me enormously. I do have one question however! When you say ‘perpendicular’, I may be wrong, but do you mean parallel? So sorry to flag this but I can’t understand what you mean by perpendicular. It could be me though!
I was taught how to hold the nippers completely wrong. Thanks for this information.
Yours videos are Amazing! And you are so beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing all this information.
12:50 The fact that you didn't push the cuticle and pushed the proximal nail fold (PNF) blew my mind. I was doing it wrong all the time. Mostly because everyone is calling the tool cuticle pusher when it should be called PNF pusher. I used to scrap that layer of dead skin that is on stuck on the nail plate pushing upwards thinking that's the correct way. Now I understood we only use the pusher to push and PNF and open a pocket underneath to clean off the underlying dead skin aka the cuticle. Thanks for the video. Helped a lot!
Fantastic video, thank you❤️👍
Love these vids!!!!!!
Great video. Thanks!
i'm trying to recover from a nail/cuticle biting/picking habit. managed to kick picking at nice smooth skin and nails, but once it gets ragged i can't rest till it's gone! leads to terrible bloody cuticles, scabby fingers and many infected hangnails. I can't afford manicures, so i've been trying to keep up with my cuticles myself--ending up with a lot of overworked and raw skin alllll the time. this thorough and science-based overview is just what i needed to find a balance, to keep my fingers free of snags and things that would trigger me to pick and bite. Thank you so much for this! it's gonna really save my fingers this winter.
Good knowledge. As nail technician, you are very knowledgeable
So helpful! Thank you!🙌🏻
What a great tutorial! So informative to a DIY like me! I’ve given myself manicures since I was a sophomore in high school! I’m now a senior citizen! I’m looking forward to seeing all your videos to give me a bit of knowledge on what I’m doing, instead of “trial by fire” I switched from polish to shellac 8 years ago, and in the past months added gel to allow my nails to grow longer w/o cracking. In the past few months I’ve had to deal with blistering on my proximal nail fold and hyponychium. My last manicure only my thumb had that issue. Of course after the blisters subsided, I had to deal with dead skin, on the eponychium, and nail fold causing me to use the nippers to get rid of it. I don’t give myself a new manicure until everything heals. My question is how do I stop these incidences, because I’m afraid of permanently messing up my nail bed! It’s been suggested my curing time was inadequate. I purchased a new lamp, which came yesterday. In the past I never sanitized my nippers, with no ill effects. Since the start of the blistering AND itching of my fingers, starting after I completed my manicure, I’ve tried to soaking them in hydrogen peroxide to eliminate any bacteria. I even tried alcohol and the peroxide to soak my nippers, w/o luck, because my thumb, and one other finger had the blistering at my hyponychium. This time my fingers did not itch. So it’s not an allergy. I hope you can help me Sue
Thank you for sharing, i learned a lot
I'm a year late, but I'm Really enjoying binge watching your series. Tfs 👍🏾
Wow I use the nipper, and that grip made ALL the difference!
OMG, thank you for having these videos! I missed "cuticle day" at my course, some days ago, and pretty much had to go in blind the last two days and I did okay, but then I remembered your videos today! I'm watching this now so that am not going "cuticle happy" (as my instructor calls it). I found the tips you had in holding the nippers extremely helpful.
