As a dad, I love these types of video exploring vehicle practicality for a family. If you could do a similar video with the Kia EV9, it would be awesome.

I can only imagine what my parents went through... Taking the kids everywhere... But you have to because it's part of their upbringing and socializing. (Like a puppy dog.)

Couldn't help noticing the small box trailer. Maybe you just need a car that can tow. Put all the family stuff in the trailer, so long as you have enough seats. Flashback to my parents day, 2 kids and 2 adults in a Morris Minor😊😛

Hi Bjørn, I am an ES8 owner and also 102% småbarnspappa. I am over two meters tall and have two kids in rear facing car seats. In other words, I have a lot of experience with this car, long trips and kids (and even a dog). Overall I would say this car is pretty well suited for the task. The big fail you are doing here is using the six seater. With the seven seater you could let granny sit in the middle seat in the second row between the child seats (you can recline the second row in the seven seater for decent comfort). Exiting and entering is very easy if you adjust the passenger seat all the way forward and tilt forward, whilst doing this you save the position as secondary position in memory. If you then also add adjustment of passenger seat as a shortcut button in the swipe-from-left-menu, you can access this exit position within two taps with the finger. This way, three adults can sit comfy with LOTS of leg space (even enough for me with backwards facing child seat), the person in the middle can tend to the kids and you wil have the huge boot of the ES8 available for luggage. I have not found any better suited car for this task, maby the EV9 would beat it, but it lacks the battery swap and charging can be a hassle if the kids are staging a riot in the back seat. The Hongqis exterior dimensions are slightly larger, but interior space is smaller due to the massive bonnet. The E-Vito etc is a lot more spacious, but you sacrifice range, comfort and perhaps noise? Thanks for all of your awesome reviews

There are no 7-seaters available anymore unfortunately in Norway. We just ended up buying the 6 seater (with 2 small kids atm). From what I've heard the 7 seater will not come in stock anymore as they're trying to get rid of all ES8, since they'll be replaced with the ES9 somewhere later in the year most likely. It's only a couple handful of cars left I believe so far.

@@armini0 Sorry to hear that, the 6-seater seems super comfy for older passengers, but for the backwards facing crew, the 7-seater is a pretty sweet deal. The car is a bargain anyways!

In the UK we used to have to do all that with 4 kids, the eldest was 8 when the. youngest was a baby, but we also didn't have Isofix either. Just seats held in with seatbelts. Initially we had a Renault 21 Savanna (7 seater) then we went to a Toyota Lucida import (8 seater), which had electric side curtains 😂

Just for your reference: It's not allowed with a rear-facing child seat in the third row that has this support leg. Child seats without the support legs are fine, check the manual. We tried out if using rear-facing child seats with support legs in the third row and that fits fine, but it's unfortunately not allowed. We used the BeSafe Stretch and Axkid One.

SUV form factor doesn’t seem to work that well for 6/7 seats. It would be interesting to have a side by side test with willing participants in MPV, SUV, Van style vehicles to assess space and packaging.

Still explore a baby seat in the back. Axle loaded from the trunk opening with one third row seat folded down for access. Then the folded seat back to upright. Adult gets in that seat. Next load Isabel and an adult in the second row. Two adults in the front. It could be possible to load both children in the third row for more comfort for the adults in the second row. You can do dry runs to explore options with empty car seats.

My wife and I have had a good experience using seatbelts to strap car seats into the rear passenger seat and rear center seat, leaving the rear driver seat available for a passenger. Depends on the car and car seats though.

You should try to figure how to fit a child-seat in the back without having to perform gymnastics to get the kids in and out. It would also be worth seeing if its practical or not and eventual challenges involved.
