Video was super helpful. My nephew’s broke the exact same way. Will attempt to fix. Worse case his parents will have to order new ones again 😂

Omg, I broke the exact same thing when I took apart my joycon for the first time. I didn't think it was possible to fix it because the pads were gone. If only I had a soldering iron and knew how to solder tiny points like that

Awesome video, thank you! What were the very fine wires you were using as jumpers? From the pads to the board?
@fixingmoddingbuilding
Жыл бұрын
Enamel wire, 0.01mm. Its fine coated wire but once you put solder on it the coating removes.

I have two boards I need to do this on thanks for the video. Quick question from an amateur, can I use a small dab of hot glue as a solder mask?
@fixingmoddingbuilding
Жыл бұрын
You don't really need solder mask, where the traces are is not really getting touched or moved. If you put hot glue on you need to really flatten it as the plastic piece that goes over the top of it will not fit correctly. Any other questions just get in touch. 👍

Any idea if there are any other point I can tap into? I managed to melt off the solder pad for the test point, the tiny bit of the original trace that remains is as thin as a light scratch on a phone screen. Literally will not tin 😮💨 good times lol

If the analogue stick still works, it shows its not dead which is a positive! Check all ribbon cable connectors to make sure they are all inserted correctly, one might not be fully seated?

It helps the solder flow and stick, I never used to use it so it's doable without but helps with.
