Guns appear as weapon pickups in the Punisher game. There are also moments where gun-toting enemies show up, and Castle and Fury will pull out pistols and start blasting.

That’s good to know. I guess Nintendo didn’t want to show that in the direct.

I never even found gameshark codes to cheat and get it. I thought about playing on an emulator and using save states on floor 99 and constantly reload until I got it to spawn, but never got around to doing it.

Investigations 2 not getting localized wasn't because of poor sales. The development team was disbanded almost immediately after the game was completed, meaning there was no time to put a localization together. Add to that the fact that it was published the same year the 3DS was released, and the reason for the DS version not coming to the west becomes clear.
