I think it's safe to say the next system will have backwards compatability because of the many Switch games that are releasing this and next year, like Pokémon Legends Z-A, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, and Nintendo World Championships: NES Editon.

Biggest necessity for me from the switch 2 will be for it to run smash without 6 freaking frames of input delay, I can’t express enough how much of a bother it is in such a fast phased game

Fun fact the original concept for the Switch had magnetic joycon, but it was scrapped since they kept coming off easily, a remnant is the sound the console makes when you slide the joycon on.

To clarify, it’s been nine years since the NX was announced. We’ve had the Switch for only 7 years

GTA6 is slated for Winter 2025. But likely will be pushed to 2026, or should be at least to have a complete game. This was the report I got at the start of the year when I asked my friend who works at Rockstar. It's true but believe what you want ❤

Not exactly... I think they will only give specific details or show the console in 2025 as well. Now, we only know that Nintendo Switch 2 or whatever you want to call it is coming out, but that's it. We don't know anything else for sure.

switch is referencing the ability to play on the go or switch to a tv though, not anything related to the joycons as far as i know lol

Imagine if all these rumours of the next console being a Switch 2, only to find out that the next console is an entirely new console, I think that would be a huge suprise at this point considering how many are sold on the idea of the next console being a "Switch 2"

It’s incredible that the games n’ stuff that’s happening so far is crazy. We got Paper Mario remake, FNF update, Switch 2, Pizza Tower with the Noise update. . And much more, we are eating good fr.

Given their trademark for the switch is them snapping their fingers to simulate the joycons connecting onto the system, they are likely going to keep that it some fashion. Either keeping the rails or switching to magnetic clicking, as long as they get the sound that they want.

Yeah i would like to see ssbu deluxe, where they just port the game with all dlc included, and then do another fighter pass or maybe 2. Because if they make a new ssb they'll have to cut the roster. nearly all 3rd parties would be out, echo fighters would be out and lots of more niche characters would be out.

I think the switch amd the wii u are a lot more alike than people realize tbh. I dint understamd whem people say the wii u was like the wii and the switch was a complete departure from that. They kinda build onto each other in a very natural way. Wii - motion controls Wii u - motion controls plus a handheld controller you can play your whole game on (for most games) Switch: motion controls, handheld mode. Can be taken portably. How are these all so different?

What I love from Nintendo is that they always like to innovate (regardless if it's a success or a failure) so I'm excited to see what will make the next console "unique" to the previous ones and hopefully it will be compatible with the switch titles (been the game boy and the DS family an exception)

Problem with a magnetic joycon is how the strong thr magnets could be in handheld mode, where they disconnect accidentally if not stong enough or too strong to take of for a kid Also reminder as to not trust anything Centro Leaks says as they are more often just guessing and when exposed they backpedal to say their source got it wrong or it was just speculation

It doesn't work exactly like that but that's an interesting idea. You should look into HALL effect joysticks if you want to learn exactly how they work, but I'll give a general description. Hall effect sticks compensate for drift by stating the resting position is the neutral (0,0) and use use magnets to measure the distance based on pull, these can fail but usually the failure has to be critical like slamming the controller/breaking plastic since there are a minimal amount of moving parts to even wear down. Potentiometer based sticks are what most controllers use, they change resistance based on stick location. Effectively it's turning two dials on different axis (kind of like using an Etch-A-Sketch) these are on small plastic gears that wear down with use and cause stick drift. The only reason every controller doesn't use HALL effect sticks now are because two reasons: 1: HALL effect sticks cost about 2-3x more to make (still VERY cheap, about 15 cents a piece in bulk) 2: They make more money when you buy a new controller (about a 5x price markup on standard controllers, even higher for joycons)

@@hock_100 Nintendo intentionally capped the performance of the switch to get higher battery life, without even putting in an option to change it. Wouldn't you agree having a higher performance mode for docked play would be nice? They did make it slightly better docked, with the CPU and RAM being utilized a bit more if the switch detects it is docked.

The real hope with magnets and controllers is that Nintendo switches to hall effect controllers.

I’m holding out for better graphics or graphic processing for once; the Switch is only within processing PS3 graphics and it feels embarrassing that we need a large hurdle to hop over

Make the switch 2 have a separate library? Errr this is Nintendo we're talking about here - their games library are barren: if they made it so you could only play Switch 2 games - what exactly would I be playing? Nintendogs horizonverse? It would be console suicide to make the same mistake that they did with the Wii U. You'd have these things sit on the shelves for years because no-one would have developed anything for them so of course they'll have backwards compatibility. One thing that I'd like would be the L and R joycons to be completely symmetrical. This way you could attach them without caring about which one goes where, plus this would mean that they have to manufacture just ONE model, thus making it cheaper. along with the ability to have rollback, my biggest hope for the switch 2 is more computing power. it doesn't need to be as powerful as the xbox or PS but it needs a boost in power to keep up and let developers continue to make bigger and better worlds on this console. I was thinking an active cooling dock would help with the additional power in docked mode, i'm sure some thin fans could be designed that would keep the dock not too big but also while providing cooling to the switch

All I care about is when the console is revealed they also reveal some great games to go with it. No remasters, remakes, ports or deluxe editions. Brand new games that make me want buy and play it. Tired of new consoles with nothing to play. Xbox is a barren wasteland of exclusives and PlayStation just got the ball rolling 4 years after launch.

Yall want rollback like it’s supposed to fix lag. You’re missing the idea of what rollback does. In my experience with rollback, instead of the game freezing when your game lags, it doesn’t freeze, it will frame jump both players (if not, just one player. I don’t know). This means you will see your opponent teleporting around the stage and sometimes just hitting you while you hit them (the percent you would have dealt with that hit probably wouldn’t even be dealt). Rollback does not fix netcode. It’s a different form of lag
