Great interview, and brought back some fond memories of the early series , sadly I share your 0% sucess rate (applied for S1, S2 and S3, got an audition for S2 but didn't make it through..that agonising wait as the deadline draws ever closer was torture!!), and the "need to get back in shape .." ! 🙂 I've actually still got the emails, for both S2 audition, and the various audience tickets, S2 was 2015 (my audition was Sat 11th July 2015 near Manchester )

Yeah the day when they were calling people was torture. My phone rang a couple times that day but it ended up being spam/marketing calls 😩 I’ve just checked the dates. My audition was the week after yours. Monday July 20th in Swansea. For series 1 I was at the same audition as Dion & Geoff Trigg and Jacqui & Connell Macquisten. I’ve known Jacqui for about 20 years. Actually if you look at my interview with Jacqui on here from last year, we do talk about her Ninja Warrior appearance

​@@jumpinjono LOL, everytime my phone rang I was "is it is it ??", and refreshing my emails more and more rapidly the nearer it got to midnight ! From day 1 , well, even before day 1, as I first got talking to a bunch of the 'regulars' online in NWUK group, then met a few of them face to face at Urban Attack #1 (shortly before the announcement we were getting NWUK Season 1...) and #2 in Manchester, but the community has always been absolutely amazing. Gutted I've never made it to Dion's yet, old place or new, 1 day at Ruel's years ago, and Henry's once (even tho I live 20 mins away !). That will be changing soon, I *hope* !!

@@leighsaunderson9203 Haha, yeah I remember when NWUK first got announced I got tagged in so many posts by friends who were expecting me to go in for it, but I didn’t feel remotely ready for it and hadn’t even been on any sort of obstacle course in about 6 years. It was all thanks to meeting Dion at the S1 audition that I then heard there was a Ninja community. I sighed up for an event of Ruel’s in Feb 2016 but couldn’t go due to a lung infection. It floored me for 8 months. I’ve since found out I had of a lot of the symptoms people have had with Covid but in 2016. After being knocked sideways by that then non stop injuries for the next few years I just fell off the grid with it all. I’d love to get training for this sort of stuff but have to gradually ease in to it as I can’t afford to have the sort of injuries I had around 2017-19 again. I went to Dion’s 3 times between 2016-17 but was already a shadow of what I would normally expect of myself on obstacles, so really went there to watch some of the others and just enjoy the day out. Maybe one day I can go to one of these training days and be a bit more like how I’d normally be…

Agreed! I’ve been meaning to contact him for ages now! Knockout Chris’s interview should hopefully get recorded next week. Then it’s likely to be a mix of either Ninja Warrior or Wipeout interviews depending on who is available at the time, if that makes sense?
