    Have never used planer boards yet. I bought a pair of 9.5" ninjas. Is 4oz of lead weight (trolling sinker and lure) too heavy to run?

    So, what is the secret to make these pull and track? We run Off Shores and Optis in my partner's boat, but when it came time to set up my boat, I bought in to the Ninja board hype. After watching this, and another vid where two other captains "sold all their other boards and went to Ninjas", I was all in and bought 3 sets of the small boards. I really like the way they attach and the flag set up, but mine do not pull well at all. Even when just pulling walleye crank baits, point up at a steep angle and lag far behind the boat. Started with the weights forward and tried all positions... moving further back made them run worse. So, after 2 trips with them we are now back to bringing all his boards when we fish out of my boat, and they run great. Got to be something, as I don't think you or the guys on "Reel To Reel" would BS about the way they run for you, just because of sponsorship. Any suggestions? The other thing I notice is no reviews show them running, just how to rig them, and how great they are. Thanks

    Very interesting. I can tell you that it's not a "paid" hype thing for me. Mine run absolutely beautiful, and I've never heard of any other captains complaining about how they run. I would have suggested moving the weight forward, but you've already done that. Have you altered the boards in any other ways, such as removing parts of the foam or adding any other weights to them? I've never had one run poorly right out of the package. I've had a few lag but only because I was running different presentations (heavier or lighter) than the others.

    No alterations, other than a small piece of velcro on top for the tea lights. I didn't question your endorsement, that's why I asked on here, knew you'd be straight if you had seen anything. Thanks for the response.

    You're welcome. I wish I could be of more help, but I find it really strange that they are not running true right out of the box.

    Chris a question for you. What holes do you run on the spindoctors? Front hole, back hole, fin hole or non fin hole? Same for both flies and meat or different? Or maybe you could do a show on that.

    Hi Chris, just wondering if you ever run snap weights in conjunction with your lead core and what your thoughts or opinions might be?

  • @tangledtacklefishing

    @tangledtacklefishing

    I don't use that method. I've heard from some that it works and from others that it's not worth the hassle, but without experience I'm not qualified to make any opinions on it.

    Based on the video, it seems like these boards do not release (fold back) to bring them in? Can you confirm? Seems like a major oversight.

    @@tangledtacklefishing you should tell your clients that... this board is controlling the fish and taking the fight out of them... here take the rod and reel in a rubber boot. Then pay me $100s of dollars to be here, reeling that boot in.
