New Dreamweaver "Ninja" Planer Board-Unboxing, Assembling and Testing

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video we take a first look at the new Dreamweaver Ninja Planer board. We take a moment to unbox, assemble and test it, and throw in our initial assessment. In an upcoming video we'll take it out on the water to see how it handles heavy coppers and cores, braid and anything else we can throw at it.

Great review Chris. By any chance, would it be possible to add a general overview of the great lakes salmon and trouts reaction to nature's forces? How weather, wind, morning, afternoon, evening, seasons, and thermocline play a role in their behavior and add it into your fundamental series? Thanks again for putting out more videos!

Great question Pao. That’s something that we can consider. If we did it would only be in generalities because there are only “sometimes” rules when it comes to salmon fishing. For example “sometimes the wind does this” and “sometimes the evening fishing does that”. But let me put my mind to it. I’ll see what we can do.

Being new to this I just started last year so I'm trying to figure out how to fish with a little success. None yet. Lol. My grandson named my boat Miss NO Fish. I thank you very much for your videos. I can already see some of these in my future. I am 65 years old with hands that don't work like they used to. The yellow brand boards will be going in the very bottom of the box for emergency use only. I have been fish lake Huron and am looking forward to trying your videos on it

Depends on which yellow brand you're talking about...I don't like these...and don't like yellowbird planners either...there are two clips on every planner...one in the front(should pop off) and one in the rear(should remain solidly attached.......front one should pop free if they don't pop free then you're fighting the planner all the way back to the boat...also if it don't pop free then it doesn't drop back directly behind boat... possibly tangling with rest of the rods...not sure why people don't comprehend this ALL

tloutfitter as in everything there are many ways to accomplish tasks. Myself I prefer the board to stay on the line and not release. There are pros and cons to both. For me to say that my way is the best and anyone who doesn’t do it my way isn’t comprehending is fairly closed minded. I appreciate your comment and your input but let’s keep this a positive place and help one another. Thanks for watching.

I’ve been running them for over a month on Lake Michigan. I like most things about them, but they seem to flip on their backs and dive upon retrieval no matter what I do with my rod tip. Running 8 and 5 colors of lead behind them.

I just got mine. I have found that if you try to tighten the grip to much the back spring will not disengage. And it is not easy to wrap the line around the nub and back into the grip. I just hope the board stays in place and does not run down the line. They should have made the default on the gripper stronger IMO.

Hello Chris! Really enjoy the channel. Do you have a comment or video you have done in the past regarding why most Great Lakes anglers seem to prefer in-line planer boards, instead of mast and reel\ski type planers? As someone new to the sport they seem to have quite a few advantages with the exception of cost.

It’s really a personal choice thing. Some guys love them and some guys only use in line planer boards. I like the in-line planer boards because I can reset my lines much easier at multiple depths.

Hey Chris. Just a thought , when you hook a fish the problem I see is that you have to fight the board back to the boat ..... which doesn't allow you to properly feel the fish, it might be beneficial if the board could be designed with a release on the front of the board similar to that of a down rigger and a non slip release in the rear of the board. So that when you get a fish on you give the rod a good jerk to release the line from the front release and rear release stays intact allowing the board to reverse direction. Now you don't have to fight the board and you have full feel of the fish. Reel in the line until the board comes back to the boat grab the board push the one hand button feature and release the board....... share that with dreamweaver and they'll have a real winner....... got to say I like what they did with that one hand button release feature. Thanks Henry Schmidt

Thanks for the comment Henry. There are quite a few after market releases that are out there that will accomplish that task, but there are also pros and cons to either having the board release or having it stay put. We like to have the board stay put and not release. You still have great control over the fish and the fish tires quickly trying to fight the board and the angler. But those are just a few of the reasons. I’m not saying we’re doing it the right way or the wrong way. It’s just the way we prefer. Thanks fir the input.

@@tangledtacklefishing I agree with having the board stay on the line and that's why I mentioned where pin is on the back that the design of that portion be somehow fixed so that the board stays put on the line and when reeled back to the boat you grab it push the one hand bottom and it releases . Of course with the way that rear pin is if you have a release on the front that you can yank your line free the board could just slide down the line . Thanks Henry Schmidt

That's how I feel too......I hate fighting the fish and the board...I live offshore planner boards since they are the only ones I have found that actually unhook from the front clip...I don't see why people want to fight the board...doesn't make sense

The price point is my only stopper with this board. It probably costs $5 to produce and they want $50 each. I run at least 6 boards which is why I chose to build my boards. I ordered the Scotty line clips from Amazon. This board is nicer but I have $4 in each of my boards and they don't look like Fido's butt. The Fishn n Stuff channel has instructions on building your own boards. I like catching fish on what I build anyway.
