Japanese bands in the heavier genres (in contrast to J-Pop) will often go deep in their lyrics, with references ranging from classical literature to traditional culture to religion. This band is an example. You need a dictionary and encyclopedia to figure out some of the references. They will use archaic expressions because the sound fits the rhythm of the song better than modern words.
formed in 1987, 20+ album discography, youtube algorithm blessed them with their 2019 song "heartless scat" and blew them up. amazing band, with near limitless deep cuts.
I'm glad you reacted to the rocking song from Ningen Isu. Well, I would be happier if the score was a bit higher, haha. It is okay. I have the impression that this song is a straight rock/metal number for the band, but even so, it has a tempo change in the middle part, and I guess it is also typical of Ningen Isu and a progressive influence. I guess that the song title is used in the original Buddhist term for ‘ultimate’, rather than as a tribute to Kurt Cobain. It would be nice if you could check out the lyrics too. Thank you from a fan of Ningen Isu in Japan!
Great song from Ningen Isu. I only know a small amount of their songs. They remind me in a way of 1970's prog rock with some of their arrangements and as you point out, the change in tempo and direction. Their musicianship is so good. Watching live material from Ningen Isu, it easy to forget there is only the three of them playing.
Another nice touch is the part of the verse when the snare switches to the 1 and 3. I like the bass distortion demo!

Such a fantastic band - I'm really looking forward to catching these guys live again one day. So many bands have a "difficult third album".. Ningen Isu are 23 albums in - still making incredible songs and showing no signs of slowing down It was good to see you break out the bass to work out the distortion 👍 PS: on the band name, you need to make the 'g' hard.. more like "get" than "jet" in "ningen" cheers
If you like this one you should check Meido Kissa out. The live version is better. Not for reaction just enjoy the music. Oh! an put Ningen Isu in the search tag, because meido kissa means maid cafe. you could get weird results...
