Really love this video series. I particularly enjoy how your guests modify the cars to suit their use and requirements, and then hearing the stories of how they use the cars. This has really hit a sweet spot resulting in amazing content, well done guys!!!

Absolutely wonderful build. I tried to buy a car without a sunroof, got a sunroof and love it. I think it’s because in a 911 the sunroof is so far forward it really makes a difference.

Great video! You talked about “wax oil” and steam cleaning your undercarriage. Can you give a bit more detail on your regimen? I have an 83 SC and would like to do something similar.

What is the rough cost of this build vs Tuthill, for example?

  • @stuttgartclassica6283

Depends on the spec. But a lot cheaper than Tutt’s

This is a lipstick job compared to Tuthill. Probably 1/4 of the work so no more than 1/4 of the Tuthill. To be fair, I think that the Tuthill cars should remain with traditional materials (aluminium and dipped steel) rather than carbon fibre. The factory managed 830 kg on a S/T but obviously this generation was flabbier.

@@Andrew-vx2ls well I disagree. Seeing as I built the car I know exactly what work was involved. Far more than “lipstick”

@@stuttgartclassica6283 I can appreciate the hours and was perhaps untactful in my portrayal of the time involved. What I really mean is that if someone really wants a S/T IMHO they should approach it with period shell and replace for example the roof panel if there is a sunroof. They would also need to make many parts from scratch from scanned originals. Whereas the skilled home restorer can do this, the professional would need to charge more than the market can bear which is why backdating is popular. Each to his own.

1040 kg with all steel parts and a sunroof? That's impressive! But how?

I thought the same. But with the original car weighing in at about 1200 kg, stripping our rear seats and everything that doesn’t need to be there, plus smaller tank, lighter exhaust etc, it must be doable, but loosing circa 160 kg is impressive.

That’s correct. I stripped everything what was not needed. Rear seat, air con, heating, door cards, name it…
