I think the judges should score three scores seperately. 1. Whats the on paper score of the trick based on difficulty (maybe also novelty). 2. how much is deducted because of flaws in execution 3. how much is deducted because of repetion from similar tricks being landed by the same skater or the competition.

The wall of positive noise dilutes skate competition. Kelly's reasoning of "dude that's hard" is such a straw man. It's all hard, that's why they are the pro's in a contest. The point is boundaries pushed at the highest level. But hey, the consumers dictate how valuable a product is. Which, judging by who is advertising at events, it makes sense.

Should the trick lose points if that skater does that trick at every contest? At every SLS stop? I think it should definitely lose points over time from the same person. Aurulien doing ghetto birds gets old to me. Same with Kelvins 270 tails/blunts. Yuto’s tornado trick. I'm with Chris. I'm a few minutes into this and I'm not giving any of these tricks a 9. I think the judges are wayyyyy too generous. Given how technical skateboarding has become, the only trick I'd consider giving a 9 to is Jagger's. Hoefelers tricks and Yuto's are simpler than people think. Rotating fakie or nollie is way easier than spinning from regular stance into grinds. Why do you think everyone learns fakie and nollie 360s before regs?
