Hey Nina! In the 1970's I lost a friend once because I burst laughing when she told some kind of health committee that Cheerios were among the healthiest of foods. This happened in Berkeley, CA., and I remember it clearly and distinctly I kid you not. So this "fight" is not new. The only difference now is that we have the Internet, and this time us healthy promoting people are going to win.

Just checked the price of those in Germany. 13€/kg. That's insane. You can get 1 kg of oats for 2 € and 1 kg of sugar for 1,50€, if you wanna cerals for breakfast. I love nuts and my favorite mixture costs 12€/kg and they will keep me satiated longer. Lot's of people in Germany complain about prices for meat, but then they buy cerals with brand names.

It is very terrifying. Just the thought of removing all the animals and replacing them with corporate green houses and labs, and what that would do to the ecology and food supply of the world is terrifying. But I just read something recently that was reporting on the decline in sales of fake meat, "milk" and whatnot. It gave me hope. I'm happy to be doing my part to make that happen while increasing revenue for beef, bacon, butter, real cream, cheese and eggs. The pressure is definitely on to force us in the direction of fake food and no animals, but we have the power to push back and real food folks are a rapidly growing population. Not to mention, what would we be left with to feed our pets? It would mean the end of cats and dogs.

Such a great talk! Definitely heading over to the NC website to give my comments after this. Nina Teicholz should be awarded a presidential medal for the incredible work she's been doing for 20 yrs. I'm someone who seriously needs for things to be logical and to add up, and when they don't my brain starts to implode. This is what happened 8 years ago when my dad died from post-op complications after a heart attack. All the specifics did not add up at all and I went in search of answers because my brain could not leave it alone. Nina is a nutrition hero in my book, because she deals in facts and true history as a journalist and refuses to leave it alone!

15:00 -- a useful (new?) perspective on this would be to start showing POSITIVE impacts on cardiovascular health et al when eating a diet with quality saturated fats. The current logic is to check 'does eating saturated fats cause ill health' however if we can move to the positive logic, it could have HUGE ramifications and support for a true change to the 'standard of care' that Physicians et al must follow.

There's virtually zero chance that the murderer will see the inside of a prison, alongside the absurd number of people who are still in there for infinitely less harmful acts. Very good talk explaining the truth behind the propaganda. A lot of carbs, and especially sugars, are not good. But I strongly suggest the most dangerous is the seed oils, not the sugars. They are highly oxidative, inflammatory and toxic in big amounts. Comparable to arsenic. Search for Chris Knobbe and his presentations. He has researched this a long time.

Most people should take one look at that Tuft's chart and immediately think it's something straight out of the Onion. I think down deep, most would. Yet, if you try to get people on board with flipping the food pyramid or just simply rethinking their carb-heavy diet, you'll find excuse after excuse after excuse for why those foods "aren't so bad" or can be "eaten in moderation" or how they're "part of a balanced diet". You repeat a lie enough times, and it starts to feel true. This is what I think has happened with the general public.

according to the chart, at 77, I should die soon - haven't had a breakfast cereal for many years, mainly eat meat and fat with a lot of ground beef. Lunch was 3 buttered cheese/egg chaffles and 5 bacon, dinner will be flank steak and butter. 😋 Sorry, gotta run, literally jogging, then off to ride my horse after I trim up her hooves, then swim with my hubby 🏊. I never mention my diet unless somebody says they wish they had half my energy and ambition.

Ms. Teicholz, you have such important information to convey! I just wish you would practice your presentations more thoroughly. Your tendency to misread your own slides, jump forward and back on thoughts and specific points and speak in incomplete sentences really gets in the way of your important message. For example, when discussing saturated fat, you say that "between 73 and 100% of the papers don't support their conclusion..." It's really between 50 and 100%. Not a big difference, but the listener/reader of the slide is left trying to figure out why you said 73% instead of 50% rather than listening to what you say after that. I've listened to many of your presentations and always find it very difficult to fo;;ow what you are saying.

Nina, you look way too old not to be familiar with the monster cereals of the 70's...Fraken Berry, Boo Berry and Count Chocula. Trix, Honeycombs, Fruity Pebbles, Freakies...what happened to my favorite Freakies (Hamhose and Snorkledorf)???
