I was very lucky to witness and film the unique hunting behaviour of the Nimbochromis Livingstonii, this was captured at Lion's Cove. Rarely witnessed in the wild let alone filmed.
The other diver was my dive buddy Kathy from Australia.

So freaking cool. What an experience it most had been to go to lake malawi!!
Wow! I was in awe thinking it was some type of flat cichlid. When it swam off I was like - no way! Good job mate, I'd love to see these magnificent creature's in their natural habitat... special, feel privileged to share in the moment
Your dive footage is so awesome. I find myself holding my breath while watching. So cool. Thanks

what an excellent video its so rare to get a chance to see these fish we keep in the wild and the behavior that is natural for them ...bravo...
I really enjoy your videos. Please keep them coming.Ted
just adopted one from a family with 2 kids and to think this thing should be in a lake in the middle of africa and not a 50 gallon is crazy. the one i have is MUCH darker but its because of the environment its kept. luckily i found someone who can adopt it from me with a giant tank to give this chonker a bigger home and some company. for the week or 2 i get to keep this animal its pretty cool.
awesome video mate👍
Great. Love Nimbo but I miss a few cm to keep him. Thanks so much, that I could see it. Good luck.
Very interesting, good catch!
Marc!!! Welcome back. I know this is how they hunt but I can't say I have seen t before. Thanks.

Beautiful video...
Love when my fish does this in the tank! Although I have never actually seen him lay on his side. He spreads his fins and goes completely motionless.

I have a 55 gallon tank with 8 medium sized cichlids. My first question is how many more cichlids can I put into the tank, and can I put a crayfish into the tank? Thanks

what kind of him?
Awesome footage mate! :-D Whoever clicked unlike on this...I hope they s#it a cactus soon! ;-)
Where u gone ?
My god .. this fish is insane 😂😂😂
brilliant
Mine like to do that too, but he prefers to lay in a hole in big rock i have in my tank. He blends right in. The little guy in your vid might want to choose better background for laying, but i guess you do not need camouflage if other fish think your dead.

He lays there so smaller fish investigate. He then eats them quickly. That’s why it’s called hunting behaviour It’s an ambush predator
behavior could lead to evolution of flounders?
Cute!
lovely footis
Makes me want a livingstoni, very cool behavior and patyerns!
