    Hippos are not afraid of crocodiles, it's the opposite. If there is an animal they are afraid of, it's only the African elephant.

    However, some large Nile crocodiles have been recorded as predators of subadult hippos; anecdotally, the infamous giant crocodile Gustave was reported to have been seen killing adult female hippos. A 5 m (16 ft 5 in) specimen from Zambia was found to have eaten a "half-grown hippo". At the no-longer-existent Ripon Falls in Uganda, one adult bull hippo was seen to be badly injured in a mating battle with a rival bull hippo, and was then subsequently attacked by several crocodiles, causing it to retreat to a reedbed.

    Crocodiles- even the Nile Crocodile - will NOT mess with hippos. They actually move out of the way when hippos are crossing their path.

    Or pretty much anything. Nile crocodiles I have seen on doco's leave baby hippo's alone and don't even bother the baby one's even if they are jerks to the crocodile because of the wraith of the adults.

    Lions doubtless have to be wary of crocodiles when they come down to the water`s edge for a drink; hippos, on the other hand, need to have an eye on their youngsters all the time, but apart from that, it is safe to say if they were afraid of crocodiles, they simply wouldn`t have chosen to become semi-aquatic.

    Thanks someone for loving my comment so many people would say they want this animal deal but I think even if it’s aggressive and I don’t deny that we need to be careful with it it’s still a being of great coolness and we should value it and say it’s an honor to get to see such a magnificent creature and do what we can to ensure its future

    In a lion's territory the croc would come off 2nd best. Once the croc has lost its element of surprise the lion will outwit it and attack the area where the croc's brain is.

    @@Polosatiy_Varan oh yes I have seen them in Zimbabwe. Sadly when we were cruising on the Zambezi the only croc I saw was a baby, basking in the sun on a log. Saw the biggies in the croc farm
