I shot with my Nikon D810 for eight years. It’s an awesome camera! Last December I decided to upgrade to the Nikon D850 and got a terrific deal. No regrets here. I gave my son my D810 and it’s still in perfect condition and takes amazing photos! I highly recommended getting one used. Don’t get caught up in technology, it’s the person behind the camera that creates great photos!

Could you compare the autofocus between D810 and D850 in low light ? Looking to do the same upgrade here but I do not know if it is worth it for my events.

I just upgrated my gear from D800 to D810. Compared to D850 but finally went to D810. With battery grip I paid 810 €. SC 21k. I believe that this body will fullfil my needs for many years. 😊

I got one a few months ago for landscapes, best purchase ever! The image quality and dynamic range is incredible, I don't see any point in buying the latest mirrorless cameras, especially not for my use case. Some people say they are lighter but are they really? Once you factor in carrying many extra batteries the weight becomes becomes negligible and the lenses are of a similar size/weight. You can use the d810 with gloves on too which is a bonus in winter.

🖕 mirrorless cameras. They are way too expensive and feel cheap. They are good only for whimps and shills.

I have been using a D750 for years, and just this week got a D810. I'm happy to have better resolution. (I've yet to try iso 64.) I will keep the D750, but suspect I will mostly use my new/used D810. ( November 2023 )

i shoot the 810 next to guys with sony mirrorless and canon R series and none of them can tell the difference between my photos and theres in the same situations. besides the auto focus the image quality is just as good as any newer camera

I have a D810 and a D850 for aerial work out of helicopters since changing lenses during the flight is not too smart. Love my D810 and love my D850. Great vid... no reason for me to go to the Z8...yet. :)

I just got one for personal use yesterday, I’m impressed how well it performs and feels, I already have a z7 but this d810 seems to perform better in low light and af. Z7 is better in everything related to video.

I recently repurchased a D810, and I'm happy to be using it again. I also found that it has better low-light ability than my Z7 and Fuji XT5.

I have been shooting with my D810 for nearly nine years and the camera is still up there with the latest and best of them. It is the best camera I have ever owned. But yours looks to be in a lot better shape than mine. The AF on lettering is gone on mine and some of the rubber is wearing off. If I could get a good deal on a used D850 I would upgrade it,

Depends on the price & shutter count. I have mine (1st 7 only DSLR) for 7.5 yrs now. I would have to guess my shutter count is up to about 80-90k from shooting wildlife (mostly wildlife/nature/macro photography) with probably a 35-40% keeper rate for wildlife. Plenty of res for everything but the heaviest of crops but still very decent. I'm looking to upgrade to the tilt rear lcd & the in camera focus stack shooting mode. I'll always take more AF options if available. If I get the D850, no need to upgrade any of my software either. As a bonus, the 600mm f4 vr lenses are coming down in price quite nicely also. If the camera does what you need, no need to upgrade.

The only thing these Nikon models lag behind ( no pun ) is in Live View. D800, D810, D7100 and D7200 all really struggle in Live View. I dont really like it on my D500. Otherwise, all really great imagers.

If your just doing stills and as you have plenty of backup options then stick with them IMO. Image quality is as good as the more modern mirrorless unless you go for a bunch of Z9's so save a fortune and love the d810's.

@@Eyeofdajjal The answer is in the above post... I purchased the new D810s years ago; was involved in a serious accident-unable to use them/work. Now I only need 2 more operations, rehabilitation, then back to work using my still brand "new" d810s. Peace out, my friend.

@@jackedwards9048 oh, sorry, I didn’t catch that! I wish you a - well, that sounds kind of ironic, but still - quick recovery after your final hurdles. I only have an old Canon s as a backup, so I envy you for the great D810s. Something to look forward to! How did you get through these times financially, if I may ask? Insurance is expensive where I live…

@@Eyeofdajjal Thank you for the well wishes... As a working pro, if you need a higher tech backup camera, rent it; save your nickles & dimes to upgrade (at least 3 bodies, half a dozen fast lenses (prime & zoom), and three good lights, brackets, tripod, monopod, light stands, soft boxes, backdrops & stand, etc. Continue photographing & keep the faith; you will get there! These videos are plenty here on KZread. Thematically all the same. And the same answer applies every time. If your camera system is delivering the results you need, it is always relevant, no matter the time. Done!
