As a 68 year old who is a new subscriber AND a new photographer trying to learn some of the art and find some good equipment, I want to say I really value your reviews and your narrative on photography. I appreciate the fact that you back them up with the downloadable files you offer. I inherited a D70S from my late photographer/sister, picked it up one day, caught the bug, and now I'm trying to sort out my next steps on equipment and education; your videos really help.
Super detailed and thorough review. I can't believe this level of quality (HD, Drone shots, Full Res jpgs, multiple cameras/go pro view) is *free* on KZread - very comprehensive. I'm sure an insane amount of effort went into this production. Great job Jared (and team)!
Hey Jared. Just upgraded to the D500 yesterday and will be running it through the paces this weekend. Impressed as hell so far! Great informational vid here man. Thanks!
I don't know why, but I am still amazed every time I see one of you guys videos. The quality of the video as well as the content is phenomenal as always. Keep up the great work Team Fro!
Have been a fan of yours for a few years Jared and even chatted with you once at Alan's. I have to say, in my opinion, this is one of the ABSOLUTE BEST video reviews I've seen ANYWHERE! You out did your great work! Thanks!!
Do the pants come with a volume control?

I think you wanna buy this cam if you are shooting sports and nature. If I wanna get best results in portrait photography, I think I'd to take a full frame body. But, still interesting to see it above iso 4000.. But- as he said, the D(n). - Bodies are in their own iso-league..
I haven't seen your review for a while now, and gosh your videos got so much better! Good job guys!
Dude, I used to hate your reviews, but I got over it and totally respect your knowledge, thank you. keep up the outstanding work.
i bought d500 last 3 weeks, love it so much, more things to explore on this camera...great and clear review. thanks...
I'm using a F80/N80 from year 2000 and its still goin strong!
This is just what I was waiting for . Thank you very much for such a detailed review and in turn making my purchase decision a much easier one.
Another great and thorough review! I've got my D500 for two weeks now, and am absolutely loving it! I've also bought a few new lenses for it (one of which is 200/2!!), and will start to take some sports photos.
For wildlife, real deal fast shooting like hummingbirds, or the real fast sports action this is the very best camera on the market even today on April 2020. The autofocus of the D500 is perfect. There is nothing like this on the market. If you work with real fast action buy the camera and be happy! Don't bother yourself with the mirrorless mania, full frame things... Buy the right lenses and the D500 will deliver every time when you most need it. Portraits, shows, concerts, studio work are too easy for this camera.
Love watching/listening to your videos ect, have both d500/d4s and they both do the business as far as I'm concerned, keep up the good work Jared, all the best from across the pond.
Super job with tihs detailed video. This looks like the definitive DX camera. Have a D300s currently and still loving it, except for sensor size and ISO noise.
This was absolutely the best review of this camera I have seen, I also think this is one of the best videos you have done to date! Excellent work! Love your channel!

Really impressed with the way you have done this review, one of your best videos yet. Informative, detailed and grounded in real world requirements. keep up the great work.

by far the best review you've done yet!
Excellent video Jared, thanks!
Really good review. And, I love your use of the drone.
great job jared! is there a way you could do a dedicated lowlight action test?
In the sand pit when he started bouncing the ball on his club I started to lose it. That's talent.
I have no interest in the camera, I came for the pants.
That was the best d500 review ever tons of information.. Thanks jared i was considering buying the D810 as you know its full frame but now i have to rethink about that
Full frame vs D500: decision is simple. If you buy full frame camera you'll have to buy all the expensive fx lenses whereas with d500 you can use dx and fx lenses and get x1.5 times reach in all lenses.

Actually all fmount lenses work on all f mount bodies. Its the same with z mount
Gotta say this is definitely an awesome video edit. I wish all video reviews were edited lit this. the intro is definitely the best I've seen from all your videos. looked like something out of vh1 or MTV. 👏
I shoot my D800E for Architecture, Landscape, Wedding Ring Shots, Portraits. I am adding the D500 to my bag for Wedding, Portraits and when I want to 'zoom' in tight on Landscape. Thanks for the review!
I love how this is shot and edited. You guys upped your game on this review. Great job guys!
Excellent review - thanks Jared & team
Awesome! thanks for sharing the RAWs.
Nice review. Gona buy that fantastic camera. By the way love it when your hair is in the picture of ur gopro:)
always great, thorough content sir. keep it up
The best review I've seen so far! Many many thanks, sir! I do have a question though. This is becoming to be known as the "wild life and sports camera." What makes this less of portrait camera than the D750? I am debating on which one to upgrade to. TIA
Great Video, I am sold on the C500 vs. the D7500! Thank You!
i really loved the drone sequences! great work! keep it up guys
HI, Jared i love watching your videos their very informative. keep up the good job your best fun from Ghana West Africa

At a time
The camera, 9/10 I'll reserve 10/10 for the D850. Those pants? (So that's where my grandma's quilt went)/10.
Another excellent review! Thanks Jared.
Thanks for this review although it’s a few years old now. But would you still recommend buying this camera now ? For example it’s as expensive as a Fuji x-t4. I don’t do video and have a feeling the D500 is still superior over the x-t4. Is that true?
Finally a serious Nikon body that doesn't cost as much as the D5 does. I am most probably getting one later this year and honestly would be doing the same even if the D750 was coming out now - maybe the AF is the biggest selling point for me. Edge to edge coverage? Cross type points at the farthest left and right of the frame? F**k yeah, even the top end of the previous generation bodies didn't have that. Maybe the lack of a built-in flash is a bit of a let-down (I'd love to have one for off-camera flash control), but it's understandable from Nikon's point of view - they want to push the sales of the SB-5000 and the wireless controller.
Great vid. & man that guy is good with the bouncy ball whack.
Fro you killed it on this one! Great job!
Best review of the D500 I've seen so far. Being a landscape photographer utilizing wide angle lens this camera is not for me. But for a sports/wildlife camera it looks great. Thanks
I have a D500. And i wonder what lenses do you use in this video? Did you used the kit 16-80 lens and if it worth buying it?
best D500 review. I will buy it.Thanks Jared.

Thanks. Great video!
Great review! Keep up the great work : )
You definitely nailed this review. Haven't found a better one yet of the D500. Action shots, portrait, wide angle, motion, it's all there and it's perfectly shown and explained. I'm now definitely looking at this camera as a follow up for my current D7000.

I love your reviews! It almost makes me wish I wasn't Pentax-only. Any chance you'll ever do a K3 ii or K1 review?

great video jared!
best D500 review ever. Thanks ! My choice is done for my next Nikon. Tokina is an excellent lens. I've got it on my D7200. Put it a 5.2 to get the sharpest images.
Hi Jared, thank you for providing such great videos about photography. You've been my "guide" into the world of photography since 2011. I want to ask you something. I have a rebel T3i, which is getting really old and it's giving me some troubles. I have a nice budget (around 1500€, 1600$) and I'd like to do a lot of things, but of course I can't. I thought about replacing my old rebel T3i with a newer 7D mark II or 6D, which are getting quite cheap. Now the main problem is that my lens setup is not so great. I have a 24mm EF-S f/2.8 STM that I love, the classic 50mm 1.8 and the samyang 85mm 1.4. I really need some advice. Should I buy a new camera (and if yes, which one between the two) or should I invest more on lenses (I was thinking to a 50 1.4 and a 70-200 f4)? Thanks for the answers!
Would you use a Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f2.8 ED VR on the D500 or will it work better on full frame.?
What is the best choice ?? Nikon D750 FX or the D500 DX ??? but in the case for image quality of portraits and events.

I swear to god. Such lame pants.
This camera will be my next one to buy ! Thanks for the awesome review ! But which lens did you use for the shoot ?
I shoot canon but I have a few buddies that shoot nikon. I'm not switching systems but would love to have both. I was undecided about which nikon dx to get. I think this one is the one. absolutely great review.
this review motivated me to buy this camera. I love it, thanks. Now concerning lenses, or glass as you call it, any recommendations? do you have an ultimate DX lense line up?
Dude u get better and better, awesome video man.
amazing camera, I️ want to make a purchase and have been watching most of your videos on nikons.
Great review! Super thorough! One thing I may suggest. The visor you wore during the your talking points did cause for a difficult situation on lighting but it may have been beneficial to use a fill light camera right or bring the light a little further in front to fill in your left eye. Anyway keep up these reviews!

I love these reviews. A review should be done when working with it, not just some test charts photos, to really see what's good and what's not. Great channel!
Finally, been waiting for a while
Me encantan tus videos!!!!
Jared love the review? question I have the D300s and want the new features but would it be best to keep it for sports and wildlife but get the D750 for low light? Or is the D500 more well rounded for both?
Hi, which camera would you suggest for landscape ? everything is great about Nikon but it appears grass is slightly yellowish ?
I don't remeber why I subscribed to you 4 and half years back, but videos like these remind why. Production quality is literally top notch, the editing and cinematography alone warrant this channel being top in its class, but the information, the examples, the charisma in the video make it that much better. Thanks fro, Todd, and Stephen. you guys nailed it with this one.

Hi Jared, pleeeease I need your advise, I am a semipro wedding photographer, I own a D800 and I need a second camera for both video and photos, but I don't know what to do between the d750 and the d500! Please a quick advise, the only thing that stops me it's de DX and FX matter!

Could you do a review on Nikon d500 vs Sony a7 iii? Would be much appreciated!

Just get the A7III, dslrs are outdated at this point.
Great review! Are you still using the D500 is it holding up as well now that your out of the honeymoon period? I am so close to pulling the trigger on one - I have extremely pushed my D3400 to its limit and am torn between the D7500 and D500.
Perfect video as always! GJ:)
Great review - mirrors everything I've seen so far with mine as well. I really think there's more to be heard about the metering issues regarding the high end highlights in some scenarios, but since you shoot RAW I'm not even sure you've noticed. ;) I do a lot of mass sports and event photo stuff with a high reject or non-purchase rate, and just can't handle processing that amount of RAW files - so the highlight thing is a little frustrating at the moment. The camera is spectacular though. I got a D7200 to up the sensor IQ over my D300 which was getting killed lately, but this camera finally solved all the issues I had every time I picked up or touched the D7200 vs. D300 in spite of its nearly-decade-old age, it handles so well I quickly knew I wasn't going to be sticking w/ 7200.
I miss these kind of videos
Fro, I just got back from shooting a Golf Tourny on memorial day. One recommendation I have is get in front when driving, I mean really in-front. I typically shoot about 20 feet in front and 7 to the side. Yes i'm at risk, but you get some really nice shots. I shoot full frame with a 70-200 for tee shots. Also with my silent shoot mode, I get the back-swing as well.
Hi Jared! love your stuff, where did u see the covered af points in a relation of your type of lenses? Peace
Just got a used D500 and 500 5.6 at Allens camera last week :) march 2024..
Great review jared. can you do the review of d500 vs d810
