Love this video. One of my favorite subjects is abandoned buildings and houses. They give me a feeling of sadness and abandonment. A feeling of memories past and a place that was alive and a time forgotten but yet frozen.

Ahh yes I know what you mean! I got that feeling viewing an empty house with an estate agent once. I could feel the love in the walls of the previous family. I could imagine their christmas in the livingroom and stories by the fire!

History isn't so distant where i live. In the 1930's the dust bowl drought and storms pushed a lot of people off land they settled only a few decades before. After that the people of the land continued to grow fewer as remnants and their children moved to cities or other states. The countryside is littered with the bones of these prairie and ranch homes that have been empty for decades as the land around them was sold and repurposed or integrated into larger holdings. On a quiet night you might hear a swinging door or gate, or the creaking of sunbleached wood as the night humidity creeps into the wood that once was a barrier between rugged people and violent weather they dared resist to build a life of abundance from that land.

I have attempted to write a sci-fi story, but that's never going to go anywhere. My daughter wanted a sci-fi adventure whose "hero" was not a hero, just a an ordinary person that got swept into the action. She lost interest, so there was little reason to continue.
