    Hi Danielle. You are the ONLY ONE who gave me a solution to my issue. PLEASE TELL ME HOW as soon as you can hot to add bracketing to each menu bamk setting. I need to bracket about 9 shots with certain steps in between and an interval between banks which I don't know if I can do so may need to do that manually. I'll also read the manual and look at what is in each bank. I need it for a specific subject. THANK YOU for being the most innovative I have have found. Makes me want to Safari with you:)

    We tend to take things for granted , and later we feel sorry.It applies to us , photographers , who are not using custom user settings . You are absolutely right, most of us had experienced the situation where we missed many great shots because we weren't ready or we weren't fast enough to change the settings. This video shows how easy it is to do the simple changes to make our photography life much ...easier:) Thank you Danielle for a valuable explanation and tutorial :)! Hi Danielle, Thanks for taking the time to provide this information! I have been wanting to assign custom settings, but never took the time make it happen, so you have stimulated this interest. I do however see a challenge with assigning the Pv button for my Nikon D810, as the "Photo shooting bank menu" is not an option on this camera under either the Pv or Fn button. The only way to access control is through the "info" button, changing it on the display. Seems the method you show for quickly changing is only for the very newest Nikons. Cheers!

    Hello Harvey. Ah, the D810 then doesn't have that option as a shortcut. The info button works like a charm to toggle between banks also, so yes I'd definitely do it that way (you'll see in the video I toggle between the banks quickly at one point and I was using the i button there). The other possible option is to assign the shortcut of "access top item in MY MENU" and then make Photo shooting menu banks your first item on MY MENU. I don't have a D810 with me but that might also work. Thanks!

    Very good explanation. One thing I would note about the newer (Z) cameras... When saving User modes (U-modes) the camera remembers what shooting mode you used to set that up... so for example, if you set up your custom settings while in Aperture priority mode, then camera will use Aperture priority mode with your pre-set settings when you switch to that user mode. I would suggest either set up using Manual mode, so you can quickly adjust your settings in that mode. I would also use the "Save Settings" function to save a copy of your settings to the memory card, and then download and store this file in case you have to restore the camera to factdory defaults... you can then quickly copy this file back to the card and restore your settings (most of them, at least, as this does not save EVERY setting but most of them).

    Hi Euan, great to hear. I can't remember exactly how the Z6ii is set up, but I would've thought U1/2/3 would stay as "default" settings and not change? That's how my D750's U1/2/3 works. Danielle

  • @u0096

    @u0096

    @@PangolinWildlife yes, you are correct - they do revert to the saved settings much like the D750 rather than give you the last-used settings in a photo bank like the D500. Any subsequent tweaks made to the U1/2/3 out in the field to suit the conditions on the day are lost if you switch to another mode and then switch back or power the camera off and then back on again.

    Hi Danielle, thanks for this presentation. Helps me to understand this... I am new to D850. One thing I do not manage for the moment is to set exposure compensation in one bank so that it would not affect the exposure control in other banks. If in A I put e.g. +2.0, then that same is changes in B, where I used to have e.g. -0.7. Now wat it would result😢. Do you have this experience, what could be the reason? My other settings seems to work as in your video here. Thanks, Gert

If I have set up memory banks and am working within one but wish to change back to Manual shooting, must I first turn off the Photo Shooting Bank Menu? Also, when shooting within a menu bank can I make adjustments to the settings or am I locked into what I have set up in the bank? BTW, love your videos and your very clear way of explaining the various subjects.

    My understanding is it does not actually save, it leaves Bank A at your last settings. I am new to the Bank system though, so am not sure. I am going to leave Bank A as my "normal" manual settings, where I can change it up and know it isn't saved and then use B,C & D to use for specific uses like possible flying birds/panning and then try to find a button I can link to that particular Bank.

    Where it does not work, is because you can not « save » a setup… if you modify something, it stays … you can not revert to the « real » setup you enter in your shooting bank… so you never really know what is your current setting when you come back to your bank… it rally misses a « save as » fonction to keep your bank in control! Really more efficient with the new Z6-7… (i am now on the Z9)
