Nikolay Rimsky-Korsakov The Flight of the Bumble Bee / Daniel Kåse / Daniel Norberg

Russian composer Rimsky-Korsakov is often associated with the symphonic suite Scheherazade, which is based on the folktale collection One Thousand and One Nights. But his showpiece, Flight of the Bumblebee, is from his opera The Tale of Tsar Saltan, which is based on a story by Pushkin.
The opera in its entirety is not often performed, unlike the famous interlude between the scenes of the third act: Flight of the Bumblebee This work is utterly masterful and has been arranged for many instruments and instrument combinations. Here, we hear it for two marimbas.
