Journalist: "People in Serbia were watching the game (in the middle of night), what can you tell us about the game, it was a very important win, first one in Miami, important both in terms of score and psychologically as well?" Jokic: "I also got a lot of messages that people in Serbia are awake and were watching the game, I'd like to thank them. The game was very important for us, we returned the break they made in Denver, we controlled the whole game, once we got it we never lost the lead. The bench was great, they brought us victory."

About the match, It was an important one for us. We managed to "return" the break they achieved in Denver. We had control of the match. If I'm not mistaken, we didn't lose the lead from the moment we took it. Our bench players played great. They are the ones who brought us this victory. Serbs are basically the opposite of humility...often in a good way though
As a Croat, I'm proud of our Serbian brothers. Life taught us to stay humble, but at the same time always do our best and never give up. The fact that our small area, sometimes condescendingly viewed, has produced such absolute top athletes as Jokić, Modrić, Djoković, Cro Cop, Ivanišević, Petrović, Balić, Vlašić, the Kostelićs, Ivanović, as well as athletes who grew up abroad like Karabatić and Miočić says a lot about our unique and incomparable mentality. Love Jokic. He's such a humble and hard working guy. I grew up in Puerto Rico, a predominantly Spanish speaking country but I always remember hearing how important it was to learn English just so that we could communicate with americans given our political relationship with them. Then I moved to NYC in 1980 and I found that speaking a language other than english was the equivalent of being dumb or having a missing leg or arm. If you spoke anything other than English there was something wrong with you. "You're in america now, speak english", was the message. There's even been ppl (so called Karens) who have called the cops bc they heard somebody speaking Spanish as if that was a crime. Those ppl don't realize how satisfying it is being able to speak more than one language and being able to communicate with others in their language. It's really a great feeling. My daughter speaks 4 different languages, Spanish, English, Italian and Sign Language. This last one she got interested in while in college when she noticed this other student having a hard time communicating. Became close friends and ended up getting married. He's a great kid, treats her with love and respect I love him for that. I'm so freaking proud of my baby.

We can hardly express how proud of you we are in your city! Greetings from Sombor, we are always with you
Serbia is turning into the Harvard for the sports world. Do not forget about Luka from Slovenian. He is taking this to heart big time, and most likely practicing after each playoff game if he’s worth his salt. These two guys are my favorites because they are first a gentleman and then a super-basketball player to top it off. They bring back the “Like for basketball” that Magic, Bird, Jordan, and Kobe embodied.

Translated: Zigic: Congratulation for your historical performance. Important first win here in Miami. Joker: Yes, I have received many greetings from Serbia telling me they all have been still awake for this match. Thanks to them of course. For the game. It was an important game for us because we could immediately get the re-break for that loss in Denver. I think we had everything under control and when we were up in front we never gave the lead away. We had big support from our bench who played fantastically. They gave us the win.

Bravo Kralju nas, samo jakooo do pobede
That was some home cookin’ for his soul. It clearly meant a lot that people in Serbia are caring and showing love. Come to think of it, I makes sense for major Americans sports publications/websites to have translators for superstars that aren’t native English speakers. English is tough, looks at every comments page. Get them speaking in their native tongue and you bet higher quality answers because they have a bigger and more accessible working vocabulary and will try harder with their answers because you are putting the work in for them bringing a translator. Superstars love a good work ethic because they are all relentless.
He's a nice guy and great for the NBA
How do you not like this guy? He is such a refreshing change from the usual personalities.
I bet that feels so nice to be able to speak your native language again! I only speak one language.
Man he looks incredibly proud and frankly a lot more confident speaking in his native language. Which is to be expected. But when he's speaking English he always seems so humble and unthreatening. It reminds me of the Tom Brady awe shucks persona lol
He just seems like a good dude.
