Niko Is On A Weight Loss Mission! Is Castrating Your Dog A Benefit??
Before you say anything, this was filmed before we got the motorhome haha she just needed to shed the lbs anyway. Niko and Phil both ate the same as Teddy, the only difference is the hormone balance as both Niko and Phil were castrated. As soon as they were done they put so much weight on and their diet had to change, we fed them green beans for a long time to keep volume of food up but calories significantly reduced. Whilst this worked short term, they were obviously still hungry so we had to change it up. It's all well and good saying go on longer walks or cycling etc but Phil had joint and health problems and Niko couldn't keep up either. Teddy has always eaten the same amount which shows it's down to the fluctuation in hormones having them castrated. Whilst there are big benefits to doing so, there are always negatives to contend with too. Castration is said to be better for pedigrees to reduce complications, it calms down males stops the marking as a whole and the female dogs being in season but you have to consider other elements and weigh it up for you (forgive the pun)

Thats the "PC" thing theyre REQUIRED to say because of irresponsible pet owners who allow their dogs to impregnate other dogs which creates hundreds of thousands of unwanted dogs worldwide! IT SHORTENS THE DOGS LIFE!

The ONLY reason they say that is because of the number of dogs that are born every single day that are abandoned by moron owners. IT IS A PROBLEM, BUT THIS SHORTENS YOUR DOGS LIFESPAN, CONSIDERABLY, AND THEY WONT TELL YOU THIS BECAUSE THEY WOULD GET OSTRACIZED FROM THEIR VET COMMUNITY! Dr. Becker, on KZread is the ONLY vet Ive seen who has told the truth and she was obviously reluctant to do it!

Teddy’s larger size gives him a longer stride. It’s the same as a short person trying to run as fast as a tall person.

I have always neutered and/or spayed my pets as I had no desire to breed them. There are many health benefits and few contraindications. My dogs also were always healthy and outlived their life expectancy. Our biggest dog (bigger than yours!) did need a knee replacement but he recovered nine months sooner than expected and lived another five years. It is a personal decision but one I always voted in favor of doing.
Please don't fix Teddy before he gives you at least 1 litter, he is such an amazing boy it will be a dam shame to lose his gene pool

Teddy won't give them a liter. A female dog does. She'll give birth and theirs enough dogs as it is.

you can purchase a belly band for male dogs to prevent marking inside your home or on your furniture. Belly Bands can be enough to stop male dogs from marking but, if the male dog does mark, the absorbent liner will capture the urine to keep dog and home clean.
Agreed with the writer's comment written below, our Veterinarian told us to get our Shih Tzu, Mikey fixed bc he was a senior and likely to have a malignant tumor, anal adenocarcinoma. Mikey got our female Tiffany a Shih Tzu too pregnant. Tiffany had 3 puppies and only one lived my beautiful baby Sweetie. Tiffany also died young of cancer bc Mikey had gotten her pregnant before she was 2yrs old. My Sweetie lived to 15yrs and I loved and enjoyed her everyday. So every dog we get I always get them fixed. Plus when Tiffany had her puppies and only one lived Sweetie, she wasn't interested in feeding her. So I bottle feed Sweetie. Our male Alaskan Malamute was much calmer, easier to work with/train, and he got along better with other dogs once he was neutered. However, our vet recommended we waited until he was a year old to let his body fully develop. He was the same size as your gorgeous Teddy, but colored like Niko with a black mask. Your babies bring me much comfort when I’m missing him! Much ❤ from 🇨🇦

My girl, who's nearly 12 years old and part labrador, always had a good appetite but since she had her emergency spaying in November 2022, she acts like she's dying from starvation every two hours or so. She has arthritis is her shoulders and, because of allergies, her paws are inflammed throughout most of the year (I have yet to find shoes that fit her, and don't need adjusting every couple of steps). So long walks, in addition to a special diet (she has so many food related allergies, it's not even funny anymore, and kidney problems on top!), are not really an option. Keeping her weight on a healthy level, is a struggle. Best of luck with Niko's weight loss challange. Be careful having her run on the asphalt though. My girl once ripped a good part of the pads on her paws raw, running on that particular ground.

I wanted to say ,that when you give these dogs a bath .Please lift them when you put them in the tub . I remember Phil always hesitated to jump in tub .Not good could break a leg ,or even get physically hurt .Better off just lift them even when you finish bathing them lift them to get out of tub . Its easierfor them .Just help them in and out of tub .
