@seel5 skating stairs, rails, or flatground is the same thing as skating stairs, gaps, or rails, in a skatepark. Thats why they apear to be golfing in a golf course but, what the cop says is that it wasnt built for them but, obviously they golfed there because it was a perfect place to golf at. it was similar to a golf course.just like skating a spot in the street is the same thing as skating a skatepark. its still skating. i hope you understand .this is what skateboarders go through everyday.

I just took up skating, and I live on a street that's really smoothly paved and great for skating. And I skate on it. I pay attention to cars and get out of the way when they're there. Their's not a good place to skate where I live where someone won't complain. So I just smile and ollie.

@yahvoxman no see, you literally get told to get off your board and walk. you're not allowed to use it as a mode of transportation even. i've been ripped off my board and held up by the collar of my shirt, spit in my face as a cop swears at me because i was RIDING my board. not doing grinds. (and i do not consider doing grinds a crime. it's a different of public is all)

"Cops can stop you from playing football on sidewalks and on private property. Just like skating. Difference is football players don't cry about it like skaters" We cry because there is no where else to go! We can't go to a field and skate we need concrete! Everyone is equal, it's just some places don't have places where it's legal to skate at like a skatepark.... then they are forced to go skate on the street or a park nearby.

i see people's point that it's different because golf courses are "made to play golf on", but what about sports like skiing, or snowboarding? the mountain wasn't "designed" for that, but its still totally fine to practice those sports there. these adverts arent made to be taken literally, there just making a very valid point on the way that society views skateboarding as a negative sport

skaterandchiller is right. if you dont skate than how could you possibly get it. skating is more than a hobby. its a passion. this advertisement is just to relate to skaters. sure its to try and get some sales and we all know this. its also not very accurate a comparison to skaters being kicked out but still, people dont get mad at people for biking across there sidewalk or a plaza inside a city. if it were private property put a fence around it and put up a sign that says "PRIVATE PROPERTY"

But with a major company backing skating, it allows the world to feel better about it, more security gaurds arent being such dicks, theres more parks, and hell you gotta admit technology thats developing for shoes and decks are amazing because its something worthwhile since more and mores people doit! Its one of those things where you gotta take the good and the bad! I love skating but sometimes i turn the other cheek to whats happening just cause enjoy how much more it respected now adays!

if it was tresspassing than why dont they kick people who arent skateboarding who are still on the property. most of them dont work there so why kick the skaters out and not those people who are lounging around. and when i was talking about the cost i was referring to how, like many people, security gaurds dont seem to respect us. sure its their job but they can do it nicer. as i was saying before we put lots of money into skateboarding not to be pushed around but to enjoy it.

Not that i argue that commercialism sucks, but its kinda like getting a sick teddy bear for christmas as a kid, but finding out theres a hidden camera. "Being convicted or having charges pressed is a crime?" His statement was not confusing at all. You chose to make it confusing. He is saying trespassing is in fact a crime, but being convicted or having charges pressed for committing that crime is not a fact. It was very clear.

But still people treat skaters like crap i can go to my school and run on the track or play football or baseball and i won't get in trouble and i could get hurt doing all those things. but the second i step on a skateboard they don't want to get sued? its a lie they just don't like skateboarders.

Everyone watching this should read Thomas Frank's "One Market Under God"-in it, he talks about how Nike marketers in the late 90s had trouble selling products to skateboarders, because they thought of Nike as the "man." So they made these commercials aligning themselves with the skateboarders AGAINST the man (the police, society), and the shoes were a hit. Just another example of how subcultures can be swallowed up by dominant society/corporations.

the only reason golfers dont golf in a no-golf area is beacuse they cant for obvious reasons like no holes or tees. if the area is private than why are they allowing random people to just sit at these places. i thot they were private. if you build a sweet skatespot and put up a "no skateboarding" sign, you cant expect peole to not skateboard

I totally understand you man, but it sucks because everywhere you go you most likely can't skate there. Don't be ignorant though, there are very little places legal to go. Especially if that city doesn't have a skatepark. Unlike others i respect you and understand the argument you are making, but please open your eyes. See how some people really have no where to skate but there front yard. Some places are just not skater friendly! Even just skating down the street could be illegal!

do you skate? answer that. have you ever been kicked out of somewhere for having fun? ive seen cops do this. we spend over $120 for boards trucks and wheels to skate yet cops and security gaurds treat us like the scum of the universe. sure this particular ad isnt quite accurate but thats not really the point. we spend many hours perfecting our tricks. its hard work. same with golf only they kick skaters out and not golfers etc. this is the point of the ad

"No, trespassing is a crime, " Ah yes, It is indeed a fact that trespassing is a crime. However the construction of your sentence did not actually convey that. It seems that it does, but that would require actually thinking about it. "being convicted or having charges pressed is another. " Being convicted or having charges pressed is a crime? I am deeply confused about the principles by which our legal system operates.

thats not what im saying. your putting arranging my sentences in ways to support you instead of what i was actually syaing. all im saying is that no one gets skateboarding except the skaters themselves. you seemed to have ignored my sentence that said that security gaurds dont kick out people just sitting there on there property. i know not to tresspass but if you build a bench for people to use its not tresspassing. were using that bench but just differently.

We'll I guess its been established that you fail at logic. "No, trespassing is a crime, being convicted or having charges pressed is another." I wish you would get over this, trespassing isn't strictly speaking a crime. In absence of posted warnings, and indeed, in spite of them, given proper cause individuals can go wherever they want. ex. Someone is hurt and needing medical attention, trespassing laws are deemed to be less binding.
