Der Iotine Core 4 ist ein vollanaloger, spannungssteuerbarer Audioprozessor mit drei verschiedenartig ausgestatteten und kombinierbaren Kanälen. Hier zeigen wir das Gerät in Verbindung mit einer Acidlab Drumatix und dem Haken ContinuuMini.
Zwei Signalwege besitzen weiche Multimode-Filter, fantastisch klingende Sättigungsstufen und rauscharme VCAs. Der Unterschied: Jeder Kanal bietet eine andere Zusammenstellung aus sieben (!!!) Sättigungs- und Verzerrer-Schaltungen. Beim dritten Signalweg gibt es ein Multimode-Filter und einen Frequenzteiler /-Multiplikator mit Zerrung zu entdecken. An Modulatoren sind eine HAR-Hüllkurve und ein Envelope-Follower eingebaut. Dank ihnen kann man Audiomaterial nicht nur dynamisch filtern, sondern auch Kompressor- und Expander-/Gate-Effekte kreieren.
Auch wenn es im Video schon ordentlich zur Sache geht, kann der Iotine Core 4 sowohl viel subtiler, als auch noch deutlich brachialer zulangen. Sehr sehr vielseitig!

The Iotine Core 4 is a fully analog, voltage-controllable audio processor with three differently equipped and combinable channels.
Here we show the unit in combination with an Acidlab Drumatix and the Haken ContinuuMini.
Two signal paths are equipped with a smooth sounding multi-mode filter, an extremely flexible saturator and a low-noise VCA. The difference: Each channel offers a unique combination of seven (!!!) saturation and distortion circuits. The third signal path features a multimode filter and a frequency divider / multiplier with distortion capabilities. Furthermore, there is a HAR envelope and an envelope follower. The modulators can not only influence the cutoff of one or more filters, but are also usable to create compressor and expander / gate effects.
Even though the video already shows a lot of action, the Iotine Core 4 can be much more subtle as well as much more brute if you want it to be. Very very versatile!

how does it compare to the "elektron analog heat" and the "shermann filterbank 2"?

I have one and had a Heat, the iotine core sounds better to my ears, more alive and 3D if it means something... also, there's no menu to dive in on the iotine core, you can use both channels independantly (you can't do that on the Heat) and the POST section is pure madness :). The filters on the IC are amazing too, much much better than the ones on the Heat. Regarding distortion, you can get them pretty close on some settings, but there will be some différences overall (I really like the Hi Gain setting on the Heat). The Heat still sounds very good and have EQ, more filter types, etc. I didn't try a Sherman but it seems more on the experimental side.
is "distortion" synonymous to "saturation" and to "adding harmonics (even+odd)"?
someone knows how it compares with the "E.S.L Vertice" analog filterbank or the "Shippmann Ebbe und Flut"?

Do not know the vertice but i own a sherman, iotine and a ebbe. From my limited knowledge and experience i would say: Iotine is by far the one i can get more shades and grades. Sherman goes it mad distortion land too quick for me but I’m guilty of not giving it so much love. Ebbe and flute is a total different monster, because of the envelope follower and lfo + distortion + compression it really make things mental but with a lot more control than the sherman, it can be subtle and has tons of different filter modes which us fun but i like it wild. I would say iotine is in a way the most usuable and versatile for me as you can grade it really nicely while on ebbe and sherman is just too tempting to go down to town with them and ended up overcooking real quick
