Jukka will be forever missed because of the positive energy and showmanship he had live, but damn, Kai is such a beast and Nightwish couldn't find a better replacement on drums. He's more precise than an Atomic Clock.

Kai was Jukka's drum teacher, so no one than Kai is the best replacement for Jukka.

Check out/react to Wintersun 'Sons of Winter and Stars' live rehearsal at Sonic Pump Studios. Kai's work with his previous band. There is also a drum cam from this performance. Hope you recover soon and many thanks for the reactions.

He is a Master of his craft

I love Jukka, big fan. I deal with insomnia constantly, and it has ruined my life. I have NO idea how Jukka managed to do all the work that he did with the band. He was a delight to watch in performance. Thankfully, Kai already knew the band and knew what was needed. His style is very different than Jukka's. He is less "showman", and more "bulldozer". He fixes his eye on the prize, and just blasts his way through. Unstoppable. A solid foundation for any shenanigans that Tuomas can come up with.

It's all practice and repetitive motion. It takes alot of dedication. But even the best fumble at times. As a "former" Drummer... I can't argue the Drummers are not Human. LOL

There is nothing boring in watching Kai play. I love watching Jeff Porcaro also and i'm guitar player.

Jukka and Kai are both superb drummers and good friends also:) Sadly Jukka had to step a side because of his insomnia and he asked Kai, great friend of his, to take his place. Jukka is still in Nightwish crew handling other stuff.

Lower Leg takes conditioning more so overall with this style/s. Not discounting upper body, but it all becomes muscle memory from an early age up or from beginning forward. He is a Technical Master.

And also, it was really nice hearing everything that Kai does, I really enjoyed it. And I enjoyed your video too of course. :)

Welcome back and hope you're well. Best wishes from this soldier of the Nightwish Army. Great reaction and nice to hear a different perspective of the band! I've seen a couple of Kai's drum cam videos and I enjoy the contrast between him and Jukka. Very different from one another but also both extremely good.

I'm a drummer of 36 years and i can tell you this. This song is by no means easy and Kai is a beast. Jukka is crazy good too. I miss his energy, but Kai has that lazer precision.

Awesome! I was set behind my Dad's Old Kent Kit at 4 (1978), I was given sticks at 6, Played for years. I haven't played though for probably 20 years. Just here and there. The past 4 years I have been focused on my Son's musical adventures in learning. I do miss Playing, but so little time to just go at it again. Yes, I love both Jukka and Kai. Unbelievable Talents

Hahto is said like how you said it first - just with the h before t audible like you saidin the end with the... (that's what I'm) 'tahlking' about :) You made an audible h in 'talking', where there's normally none (I know, the laughter brought it - but tha's it: that losing bretth puff of air). About Kai - yeah, especially what I'm amazed about are the fast tremulas, tremolos or how you call the drrr! he makes in the transitions when there are the fast hits between 2 pauses (where he shuts the plates). So fast and precise. Plus some pro sait it's harder to be accurate with the double bass when it's slower, like here it often is. Which compliments the fast kicks when he uses them. The normal speed sounds like galloping: this is like a bunch of fantasy heros riding. Well, the lyrics repeat the heros on the quet: Master, apprentice, ...Or Hamster, a dentist, ... (the so called 'wrong heard lyrics') Depending which lyrics you prefer :)

Thank you. He is a Technical Beast. I have been trying to figure out one of his techniques as in some songs he is playing Double Bass and still chirping the High Hat. My guess as a former drummer (Yes, Former LOL) is he is catching the pedal with Heel swing as he is playing the Bass Kick Left side (Crazy). I never played at this level. Mainly Country, Southern Rock, and normal Metal. Fantastic Time Keeper Kai is. A Master

@@PositiveCrunch Some Nightwish fans call him he Machine. Have you seen him play in the Wintersun song Sons of Winter and Stars? That's the most jaw-dropping drum play I've ever seen! :) Not that I've seen a lot - but it's a drench for Kai. And the guitars tend to drop people of their chairs too. I don't know if the bass there is anything special - he rarely gets mentioned. I just like the style of sound he's allowed - a loud one, which makes him an equal partner of the song,,, when the bassists are often infamously faded in the background. This one you can't help but to hear. Metal uses that quite often, so props to metal for that. I'm not a real Metal fan, quite omnivore, just as I like the song is it for me :)

I am really glad you are feeling better, I hope you will fully recover soon. About the video: I have to be honest, I am glad this video focused on the drums, because I think Wish Master with Floor is rather bad. This is just about the only song where I definitely recommend Tarja’s version over Floors’ version if you want to check out the song itself.
