From what I understand, Anette got really ill before the show in Denver. She had a high fever and had also gotten pregnant while the band had a break midway through their World Tour. She was unable to perform and so Alissa White-Gluz and Elize Ryd from support band Kamelot had to step in and perform with Nightwish with printed lyrics. Anette insisted that the rest of the tour be cancelled but Nightwish wanted to continue with a temporary singer. This argument and previous difficulties between the band and Anette led to them parting ways. Nightwish phoned Floor and asked for her help to finish the tour. Floor flew to America and had 48 hours to learn the setlist before taking to the stage for her first ever Nightwish show in Seattle. There is a documentary on KZread about just this funnily enough called Please Learn The Setlist In 48 Hours. The performance at Wacken, Germany that you watched in your video was just 10 months later! After that Wacken performance both Floor and Troy were made full members of Nightwish. Hope this helps. Stay safe 🤘✌️

I am amazed that you believe what was said in Seattle to calm the public. Annette was fed up with Nightwish. Nobody really knows what happened. But it suddenly exploded at a very inconvenient moment. I don't believe for a moment that she was ill. If she had been ill, there would have been well wishes, pictures of her in the hospital, with flowers besides her bed and the band members around it. Nothing of that all. It was so bad, that Annette did not even want to figure in any way, shape or form from that moment on in any documentary about Nightwish from that moment on. I think Annette was perfectly healthy but very, very angry. So angry that she left the band mid tour, on the spot.

@@ronaldderooij1774 I don't think the illness was fake, but rather the last drop. It was clearly not working out. A lot of fans never accepted Anette and let her know that. Nightwish's heavy touring schedule at the time also didn't work out for her. Maybe she would have been able to power through if the band relationship was healthy.

@@ronaldderooij1774 I'm pretty sure her pregnancy had a lot to do with it. Perhaps she was demanding to cancel the tour for it and the rest of the band refused. Kind of ironic, being that they're currently touring while Floor is WAY pregnant. I think she did shows while pregnant with her first child too! It shows how loyal and dedicated to her passion, and the band, she is.

I understood that before the "Denver debacle" Anette did not want to do the Australia leg of the tour, probably due to her pregnancy(not sure). The band did not want to cancel and reached out to Floor as a possible substitute for that part of the tour. Anette found out and did not like the idea. When she was unable to perform with the band in Denver, the band decided to call Floor to replace Anette right away, The "learn the setlist in 48 hours" call during Floor's sister's wedding that got her on a plane to the US. Anette may have done one last concert before Floor replaced her. I am sure there was some drama about that, and any footage with Anette was not not included in the documentary at Anette's request.

Thank you for showing openness, accepting to do this "tour de force" of 12 songs of the band, from all 3 eras (plus your first reaction - there are already 13...). You covered about 10% of their repertoire in this way. I hope I've whetted your appetite :) to keep exploring their music - the fans will help you with suggestions. If you are interested, you can find 2 huge messages with links on the Community page of my channel. I also recommend you to visit the Nightwish Arena channel, where you will find a treasure of good quality links, including entire concerts, from all eras of the band. Regarding the songs I chose - I tried to be as diverse as possible in the first place, deliberately ignoring the "usual" recommendations. For example, I could have recommended you ALL 15 songs from the Wacken 2013 concert (only Ghost Love Score is from there) because it was probably an alignment of planets then, they are all that good - but I thought that wouldn't be the best idea, because then Floor re-interpreted an entire setlist of songs recorded in the studio with Tarja and Anette (at that time Floor still had no material recorded in the studio with the band), so it would not have been representative of Floor . A similar situation - the songs from the Decades tour (2018) in which the setlist was a compilation of songs from the 2 decades of the band's activity until then (the Buenos Aires 2018 concert was recorded in its entirety on this anniversary occasion). Once again, thank you for giving us your honest reactions, and I hope to see you again soon!

Hi! Thanks for checking out my videos! It really was important to me to get the videos finished. I made a promise. Once I got my act together, so to speak, I was able to edit and publish fairly quickly. I have to admit the 3rd video was the most challenging and kind of a mess. My apologies. I really want to thank you again for "the list." It was well-curated and made the beginning part of this project easier. When I decided to redo the reaction video I had no idea how I would go about it. Tarja...a foundational muse and queen. Anette...a radical change in style... I can get my head around that. But I was a little put off by how similar they are in appearance. Style-wise...Pop-Rocker chic for certain but I did love what she did on Slow, Love, Slow. She was definitely in a tough spot on her way into Nightwish as well as her way out. Floor came in like a boss, did what she needed to do when it needed to be done and it has paid off. Period. lol As much as I'm thinking I've lost my taste for metal over the years, there is enough new stuff happening that I'm still curious so that is good. BabyMetal was a treat but I haven't been back. I've popped down the rabbit-hole that is Nightwish and it's kinda cool in here. I'm working on a list of Nightwish-related media to check out and stuff my brain.

Tuomas and the members of Nightwish are big nature lovers. IMHO - I think his Keyboard stand at Wembley looks like Groot from the Guardians of the Galaxy. It looks like he is being sacrificed (crucified) to represent mans abuse of the old grow forest and nature in general. Both of the songs you didn't appreciate are songs with a very intense message, which is the focus of these 2 songs. A deep dive into the lyrics and meaning behind these songs may give you a different feeling. Maybe not? I think you would love the Decades tour from 2018 in Buenos Aires. "Dead Boys Poem", one of my favorites. Love both Tarja and Annette's studio work. Respect to both. Big Floor fan all the way! ❣❣

Lots of effort in the reviews, and I respect that. At the end of the day, it’s all personal opinion and taste. I’m not into comparing the three because I don’t think can do it fairly. I am a Finn with dual American citizenship, and first came to know of Nightwish about age 7 or 8 and saw end-of-an era at 17. The reason I don’t compare or don’t think that can be done is because it’s like apples and bicycles and it all comes down to Tuomas. He is the Metal Mozart visionary, and has had different visions of Nightwish over the years. Early Nightwish with Tarja was his romantic Peter Pan Gothic symphonic period. T&T go back to HS a lnd Tuomas has called her his muse and his 5th instrument.not voice. And because of that some people found her singing less versatile. Not bc she isnt. But bc she sang the way he wanted the songs sung. Part of the reason for the breakup was his changing vision and her desire to sign more type of music and use her full voice more. Poor Annette was the anti Tarja filler. Now the vision since 2013 has been more Arena anthem.Heavier. More metal/rock. Which fits Floor perfectly. And Tuomas permits her to sing the older sings that way. In fact, Tarja sings the old songs more that way now. Also Tarja was singing the songs when she was in her early to mid 20s and Floor joined Nightwish at 33. So I enjoy the first Nightwish journey for the first 10 years and the third Nightwish journey for the last ten years and ignore the middle. They are both great singers. They are good friends, they respect each other’s talent. Personalities singing styles to some extent and outfitting they are very opposite, but they are both great singers, and Nightwish owes them both a lot. Personally, I probably am more a Tarja girl because she was my first love, but Floor, Tarja and NW are all doing better in their current situations.

Actually, I think all of the singers brought something unique to the Band, and the evolution works for me. I actually haven't been a Nightwish fan that very long, and I have the benefit of hindsight. I discovered them totally by accident. I found the Tarja/Marko version of Phantom of the Opera. What drew me in was the more classical singing with the metal. So, that is where the sound hits for me. Tuomas tailored of lot of his songs with the particular singer. Some people will say Anette was not a good fit, but I disagree. They needed someone different. My heartbreak is a little different than yours. To me, Journey was never the same without Steve Perry. I hated that they just basically picked one that sounded like him. So, I can appreciate Anette because she had her own great songs. She did sing some of the old ones, but It would have just been silly to try and match her voice with some of them, whether she had the power or not. The same goes for Floor, by the way. She can sing just about every Nightwish song, but if one is a full classical style, it undermines her versatility which is her biggest asset imo. She was perfect fit for this band when she took over. Being the third singer, and coming on so unexpectedly she was required to be able to sing some of the older songs right away. They threw her into the deep end and she kicked the crap out of it. This was the absolute right time for her power, technical prowess, and versatility. And of course, she has that happy light beautiful voice. I appreciate them all, and listen to them all

Their current bassist Jukka Koskinen hasn't sang yet in any performance even though he did sang background vocals with his old band, Wintersun. Nowaydays Floor does most of the singing and Troy does sing some minor parts, too. As for the songs I personally like the most, I think Ghost River from Wacken 2013 and The Poet and the Pendulum from Wembley 2015 are the two best for me.
