'Hi Ren' ... A Raw & Authentic Performance: NO VIDEO FILTER

Музыка

After some warranted fuss over the filter effect I used in my original reaction video...cause I was still learning about copyright strikes...I have decided to re-edit the video and remove the awful and sometimes nauseating effect.
You're welcome!
This video is all about my reaction to Ren's vulnerable performance of his single "Hi Ren". His emotion and powerful lyrics tore my heart out. I had to break it down and share my thoughts on the track! Watch as I take in this extraordinary and impactful song. So grab your popcorn, press play, and join me as I dive deep into this amazing performance.
Notes "after-the-fact:" The statement he is making...his sharing what he has learned and his experience...sharing his vulnerabilities...sharing his creation...GENEROUS. Such a blessing to be able to use his creativity and skills to give voice to things that so many feel and cannot find the words for. Such a blessing to understand that the power to live is in each of us. Such a blessing to find grace.

You never have to put a filter on his videos. He clears all copywrite issues. He wants reactors to post and comment on his music. He often shouts out reactors on his own KZread channel. Great reaction btw. Ren is unique and different. So amazingly talented.

Welcome to the RENiverse ❣️ I have listened to his music, almost nonstop, since I first heard this one in January. I am a widow and I am an artist. My husband passed away after a very short notice that he had stage 4 pancreatic cancer. After a 33+ yr marriage, we had less than 8 wks to say goodbye. That was almost 3 years ago. I am left alone with my 2 dogs and my memories. Ren has helped me to start the healing process. He has the voice of an angel and he is a genius wordsmith. His community is huge and most of us are healing from something. ❤❤

Ren wrote this after years of suffering with undiagnosed Lyme's Disease (at one point being bedridden for 23hs a day and unable to eat properly and in constant severe pain). He was also misdiagnosed as having various mental illnesses in the meantime, none of which addressed the actual problem and the meds they gave him actually made things worse, making him hallucinate and experience episodes of psychosis. At the point of writing this song, he felt he didn't have long left to live and wrote this (and others) as something to leave behind and help others in the process. He explains some of this in his 'Thank you for 1 million subscribers' video which I recommend to watch as it gives you the measure of this amazing guy. The song to follow this one would be Sick Boi as it talks a little bit more about some of the things he went through. As a side note, just b4 he got ill, he'd gotten a contract with Sony but that fizzled out because he got sicker and couldn't commit to the contract so they dropped him. Which in hindsight was a blessing in disguise!

Welcome to the Ren Rabbit Hole. Via this piece of art Ren has drawn thousands of followers, countless reactors who support him. It is this community that is building and carrying forward this amazingly humble artist. There is no genre that defines him. I have reached my 3 score and 10 and have to say he is the most exciting artist of my lifetime. He has several other very emotional pieces built around his illness, "Chalk Outlines (Live)" with Chinchilla, "For Joe" - a tribute to his childhood friend who took his own life at age 19, and "How to Be Me (Live)" with Chinchilla, also a tribute to his friend Joe. Ren loves hip hop and to rap. He is dropping his first hip hop album "Sick Boi" on 14 October, with many of the Ren community pre-ordering the digital album to try and get him to No1 on the charts at release. There are also several outstanding interviews with Ren, e.g. Knox Hill, Black Pegasus, that reveal the amazing person he really is. great reaction. Subscribed to watch your journey.. There are reactions where we viewers learn details about musical forms and videographic techniques. And then there are others where we learn about ourselves and each other through surprised expressions, frowns, and tears. Once we've had our first Ren initiation, we want to experience people like you having your own. A certain connection is made that binds us forever. Welcome to the embrace. I know you'll accept the emotionality I express, in light of the same by you and so many others.

Thank you for the reaction. Ren's music has completely changed everything for me. Keep going down the rabbit hole. Its an emotional roller coaster, very worth the ride. I've never been into hip-hop or rap and now Ren sits at the top of my favorites of all time. He doesn't fit into a single genre. He definitely has some form of music that you will listen to. He's command of the English language is like no other. He's a wordsmith. He produces all his own music. Self-taught guitarists, bassist, and pianist. He makes all his own beats for his rap and hip-hop tracks. And that's just a miniscule description of Ren. You'll see.

I want to add a little defence to the "Music Industry". I don't work for them, and no affiliation....other than still buying physical media for music i love........But, not the whole industry is rotten. For sure there are Charlatans, and they exist in every industry, and there are those that "manufacture" music, turning it into a consumable product. But there are still those in the industry that are about the quality and the art that music can be about. I'm 100% positive that if Ren had the opportunity to work with Rick Rubin, he would. The man is a legend in the industry and as always found ways of assisting musicians produce some of their greatest art from Hip Hop to Very Heavy Metal to Country Blues. What artists have to remember when flirting with the Corporate side, is to never forget themselves, and remain true to their art.....if someone is trying to change what you want, then run away, if someone offers you support for your vision, there is nothing wrong with finding out more about them and what they can do for you.

  • @JenniferTakes

    @JenniferTakes

Hi. Thanks for your message. I really can't disagree with anything you said. I can only say that any time an artist, any artist, becomes a part of the media machine, I believe they are making a trade. They are trading their original creative spirit for whatever the machine affords them for however long "it" assigns value to that commodity. The "music industry" no longer assigns value to actual musical talent. What can be generated to broaden their bottom line and push naritives...that is where they throw their money now. That is why artists like Ren are rising on their own merit. Because real people want actual music. Authentic music with authentic people performing it.

I am a massive fan of Ren's. He is, without doubt, one of ( if not THE ) most creative, genius artists out there plying his trade. His authenticity, his musicality, his poeticism, his rhythmical use of every aspect of English grammar, his vocal dexterity and his articulation, combined with an insane ability to combine all these skills to address the most important psychological and physiological issues facing humankind, whilst employing his own, personal, innate life experiences to hammer home his message of optimism, even through the most testing times, leaves me so humble and speechless every time I witness his God Given Gift. I enjoyed your reaction Jennifer. It was real and unfiltered and I thank you for your honesty and empathy. The major part of " HI REN " ( for me ) which always gets overlooked is the initial response to this " strange young man " being wheeled out by a " pig headed health worker " .... when he begins to play his nylon stringed, classical, guitar, fairly aggressively ( and with a purposeful amount of dissonance ) then he transitions into an amazing vocal falsetto ( with an almost " cuckoo " like refrain ... to me, implying something of real melodic / harmonious beauty being deemed as a " bit odd " simply because it is " out of the norm " and unexpected. Once the song opens up to the more " rap " flavoured yin / yang spoken type vocal, the song is immediately accepted ( I can almost hear every reviewer / reactor thinking " Aw right, here we go " ) This very same reluctance to accept the beautiful bird like vocal, at the beginning of the piece, somehow seems to gain an acceptance when Ren reintroduces it at the end of the performance. In reality, it is THE most poignant part of the whole song, as ; when we initially hear Ren being REN ( with his high pitched, amazing vocal dexterity ) we are shocked and we struggle to accept it, even though it is something of such rare beauty ( in a world of predictable mediocrity ) .... after Ren has had his battled conversation with his dark side, his glory manifests as his insistence to be himself, regardless of the lack of understanding or acceptance of his uniqueness. This wee subtle twist, at the very end, for me, is the " FINGER " to those ( including Dark Ren ) who fail to understand the enormity of believing in our own uniqueness / going against the norm and being our own unique selves. ................. I hope some of that made sense 🙏

Yes! The reckless abandon, the "glory" as you called it...no words. It has done my heart a lot of good to see so many others see the creative genius at play. "Hi Ren" is extraordinary and a natural portal to the creative genius that is Ren.

Beautiful honest, emotional reaction. That vulnerability really hits. He really was severely sick for a long time with wrong diagnosis whuch allowed Lyme disease to ravage his brain and body. He is getting treatment in Canada all this year trying to repair some of the damage. He us an inspiration in every way. He is a genius. Think I will recommend Chalk Outlines wit Chinchilla next..he sings. Or the full tales of Jenny and Screech...he plays guitar. Acts..and tells a stunning story.

This is art of transcendent beauty and an *important* song. Artists often struggle with imposter syndrome. There’s a movie starring Olivia Munn called “Violet” that rings of this and was a transformative experience for me… just as this song also resonates. As a person who’s never been able to escape imposter syndrome and negative self-talk, *realizing* that I can exert the strength that destructive voice questions-strength that I *know* I have-was sooo important. It takes time to push past the negativity-to make your own voice stronger, but if anyone out there is struggling with this, please please please *know* that you can do it. *Know* that I believe in you… but you don’t need me to-just like you don’t need the shroud of doubt that feels first of protection and then as a prison. You are *stronger* than that voice. You are stronger than you can *possibly* know… until you push back with softness or aggression-your choice.

On October 1, the premiere of a stunningly beautiful OST video for the song “Baikal” took place on Diana Ankudinova’s KZread channel. The soundtrack performed by Diana became the main musical theme of the film “The Spirit of Baikal,” which will be released in wide release on October 19, 2023. In the film itself, Diana voiced two roles - the spirit of Lake Baikal and the voice of the soul of the deceased mother of the main character of the film. The film received several top awards at film festivals. Baikal is the deepest, oldest, freshwater lake on Earth (22-23 percent of all fresh surface water), it is a place of power, the spiritual center of shamans, different religions - Shamanism , Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, a pristine place not yet touched by civilization. Since he has improved my life.Touching heart and soul with several other pieces of truly unbelievable musical art.He has a uncanny ability to evoke emotions out of people with his delivery, outstanding pen and remarkable talent like I've never experienced in life .I'm 53 . Great reaction!!!!Ricky Martin (haha not the star) Queensbury N.Y.

Art is a creation that makes a connections on any emotional level and gets you thinking. While music is art, this creation isnt just music. Perhaps a deserving piece of the term High Art?

No argument from me. Any time I have talked about "Hi Ren" to someone I describe the video performance as an art piece by a creative genius. I have been moved by music and I have been moved by videos. "Hi Ren" is next next level in my opinion. Thanks for writing!

He just makes you feel not alone in this mental health battle. Some people give you perspective and makes you realise someone always has it worse and you shouldnt beat yourself up all the time. . If you want another artistic one, tale of Jenny Nd Screech (full version) should be your next venture into Ren. He also.does just amazing hip hop, rap, reggae. Many talents.

'Sick Boi' following on as a shorter work done in the same venue that explains his misdiagnosis and medical mistreatment for years. If you break down on this song, you're going to be in bits over his and his amazing videographer Samuel's triology of 'The Tale of Jenny & Screech + Violet's Tale' as well as more autobiographical works regarding one of his oldest childhood friends in 'Suic*de' and 'For Joe' which are also the basis of the title of his first album 'Freckled Angels.' Nice reaction, will look for you work through those on his playlist as well as more social commentary works like 'Money Game Part I' and what's blowing up right now 'Money Game Part II.'

Welcome to the Rennaissance @Jennifertakes and thank you ❤ for your empathetic and insightful Ren reaction! I liked 👍 it and subscribed 🔔. Ren has got an awesome back catalogue, and I am looking forward to you discovering it. So what do you want to see and hear next? A ballady thing w/guitar? 🎸🧑‍🎤💊 Ren X Chinchilla - Chalk Outlines (live). Rap? 🐟&🍟🚢🌊 Genesis. Fun stuff? 👯👯👯👯 Love Music. Raggae? 🎸🎸🎸🥁 The Big Push - I Shot The Sheriff/Road To Zion/Hip Hop (red suspenders). Hard beats? 💉💊 Sick Boi or 🦁🦍 Animal Flow. Goofy madness? 🚲🐺🦍 Losing It! (FISHER Rap). Masterly storytelling horrendously sad stories? 🎺🏥🔪 The Tale of Jenny and Screech (full 13 min version). Another great one-take storytelling short movie? 🚗🔫 Murderer or 💰🐚 Money Game! Deep thoughts? ☁ Dear God. Trippy electronica? 🎹💊 Diazepam. More singing? 🧑‍🎤 Humble. Have great fun! Ren has a premiere of the long-awaited Song & Video 💰 "Money Game, Pt. 3" on Thursday 12 October 2023. On Friday 13 October 2023 his new album 🎶💿🐷 Sick Boi comes out. The album may (and should!) be preordered at bio.to/Ren-Sick-Boi , sickboialbum.com or through @renmakesmerch ... last we looked at the album preorder hit list, it actually topped it being trailed by the new albums of the Rolling Stones & Ed Sheeran. Only a year ago no one, least of all Ren, would have expected anything like that to happen.

I compare this song to: The Beatles "Sergeant Peppers" album. Queen "Bohemian Rhapsody" song. David Bowie and The Spiders from Mars tour era. As a time, when the boundaries of what pop music is, were redrawn.
