Lordi - Hard Rock Hallelujah; it is not very operatic, but the showmanship is great. And they won Eurovision with this song back in 2006, so they must do something right. Fun fact: they are from Finland, just like Nightwish

The “noise” which Nightwish talks about in this song is a metaphor for constantly being plugged into the “matrix”. Or a simpler way of putting it is that this song is based on the concept of the modern human dependency on electronic media being a bad thing. don't get me wrong , virtual media is not entirely bad, but it's abuse is. The hole Human. :II: Nature. album is basically slap in our face (what we need ), about nature and our role in it. This album is absolutely brilliant !!!!! Also , Nightwish received "Cultural Achievement of the Year 2021" reward , with this Virtual concert . Nightwish Shadow Unit from Estonia 🤘😎🤘.

Watch the music video and the intent will be very clear. The intro for the song is actually from the first track on Human:||:Nature, "Music". The animal noises were on a track and as I understand they were a mix of Marko, Floor and Troy. Floor can get very low with her growls so she has no trouble fitting in with low male vocal lines.

Don't know if this was mentioned in live feed, but this was about 2 months after Floor had her gall bladder removed in an emergency surgery (when they had just started rehearsals for this virtual concert). Therr were a couple of occasions on the first day's show that Floor seemed to have some pain (she had said earlier that she's not 100% pain free yet), just quick tiny signs on her face. And I somehow she even sounded a tiny bit better on the second day's show, can't explain how, it's not like she wasn't sounding good the first day 😂

@@maggiereneemusic Metal Overload interview , Tuomas: One thing that I did when doing the lyrics for the song « Noise », and it is something I’ve never, ever done before, and I did it deliberately: I spent about a week in the discussion forums and KZread commentary sections on the Internet just to dwell in the darkness, to be able to write those lyrics as they came.. I went to the Nightwish discussion forums, read everything that was on our Facebook page. Being there for an hour, I felt like taking a shower and washing my brain, but it was necessary to go there and see that world to be able to create a song.

So I am torn about his one. Saw this concert back in May and love the live show however I am surprised that it wasn't blocked. They want hard after fan release copies of the concert on YT for quite sometime (it is after all their intellectual property) and nothing from this show has been officially released. The official music video does a better job of showing the meaning of the song. My take on it is the danger of when technology so dominates our lives that we loose touch with the real world and real people. So I enjoyed the performance but for a host of reasons would have preferred that you reacted to the official music video.

I watched both concerts live and they were stunning as a whole. Noise is a reminder that while people use and rely on more and more technology their is a real World out there, don't forget it, or ignore it enjoy reality, not just a computer or phone screen all the time. And can I just give super props to Jukka on how good his bass sounded?! Chunky and biting...he fits rt in. I know he sings some in Wintersun, but idk his full abilities. Also, I've not heard the album versions that Marko.sings on, so I have no comparison to feel snobby about. Becuz I'm a woman..I.can go ahead and thank the stars for boob tape...cuz both nts we see Floor in her most cleavage-showing outfits ever...windmilling...and staying safely tucked away... @@maggiereneemusic Hi, the new outlook of your channel looks great. The backgroud image is so beautiful. I like it very much. To be honest about these little graphics you added on your video, I don't say yes or no about them, this is your channel, you decide. However I have to ask you, how do you want us to see your videos, what is the point you want us to focus on. The music video, your reaction with your comments or something else? When you watch e.g. Nightwish video, you probably pay attention to the music and also to all those little details you'll see on the stage. The same way we watch your videos. I understand it's so enthusiastic to try something new, it's ok. We have to try all new things to see what's the best option. My motto which I have been carrying with me through all the years at work is "simple is beautiful". Although my ideas would fly, my feet have to be grounded. You are very lively person which makes your videos so fun to watch. I find your reactions and comments to these videos very interresting. To understand how differently we can hear the same music, finding new details of them. And your windmill with your beutiful hair - just great. This became a long story, I hope you don't mind me expressing my honest thoughts this way. Let's listen more good music, and I hope there would be something of Nightwish too, they can make us to feel happy. The next reaction to NW songs could be "Devil & Deep Dark Ocean" or "Shudder Before the Beautiful". Actually any of NW would go. See you soon.

Your statement is correct in that it is not a criticism for cell phones and tech per se, but a lament that we have allowed them to take over so much of ourselves... everything has become a facade, a false portrayal and a retreat ever further from reality and the real world that offers so much more and better than the tiny view afforded by those screens. The official video that was playing in the backgronud window offered an even more poignant look at the efforts we go to in order to present this "perfect avatar" of ourselves and vying for attention and accolades.... from birth to death, we are becoming locked into, this artificial world and in lock-step with everyone else... and in the end it really doesn't mean much at all.

Great song. It's about so many things in modern society. You really need to see the official music video it makes so much more sense. We as a society have become obsessed with technology and social media. People buying things online they don't need. Getting likes on social media for many is a drug. Humans spend more time on their cell phones or computers than talking to real people. How often have you seen people together in a room and everyone or most are on their cell. People today often come across as superficial, self absorbed lacking empathy and compassion for others.

They are not against technology, on the contrary, but rather how people use it to their own detriment. They're saying there's a whole world around you that you ignore because of your eyes being on that little screen all the time. Also you pronounced Ego like eggo but it's about Ego (as in self) which is pronounced Ee-go. The official video of this song shows it very clearly with the imagery in it. This was also the first live performance of them (without Marco), so one needs to forgive them for not entirely sounding on point. I've seen some live-recordings of their subsequent shows where they sound more put together. But I really recommend watching the official video because you'll understand it a lot better. Noise is the term we use in communication for things that distract us.

The message of the video, it is quite complex. On first glance it is a critique of social media. How everyone is trying to show themselves in a good light, all the while being quite different in real life. How that social media is feeding us false truths and ideals to go after, all the while being fake. On second glance it is a critique of technology in general. How it takes over our lives, smartphones in particular. We are living more in the technology then in real life. An even deeper insight is that it talks about the distractions in life and our own hypocrisy. We look up to a bunch of false idols. The characters in the video encompass all 3 points. The beautiful youth idol that sells sex (she fills her day with beauty treatments and botox injections), the eco friendly activist that hugs trees (he bathes in oil while alone, meaning he leaves a huge carbon footprint, when he is alone; also he changes his opinion on nuclear power depending what is the trend right now), the instant "fix your problem" pill pusher (who is quite depressed and unhappy himself), the pageant mom showing her happy child (secretly pushing the child into what she wants, for views and likes), a guy with a different opinion (that gets attacked by the rest), and someone taking selfies instead of helping him. But at an even deeper level, this is about enlightenment. And what is keeping us from reaching it. Noise. From almost everything. Everything around us is noise. Distracting us from ourselves. From silence. Don't get me wrong, I am an atheist, but this song and video capture the essence of most eastern philosophies. There is a reason why meditation has you looking inside, not outside, for answers. All you have to do is get rid of all the noise around you and look deep.

Nightwish isn't against technology, per se, but rather, letting it take over every aspect of our lives, and using technology to forget the wonders of the universe and even the wonders of our own planet. The message is simple: Go outside. Unplug. See how wondrous this world, and this life is. To be honest, I would think that Noise would fit in with the movie Ready Player One, which, for the most part, takes place in a simulation. But perhaps the biggest lesson is at the end of the movie: To experience something human and real, technology can never take the place of the human existence. Though technology can mimic humanity in a technical sense, it cannot replicate us in the spiritual sense. And Noise takes this one step further by saying that we are letting ourselves be made compliant and be imprisoned by technology, because of how painful life can be. But being imprisoned with every comfort you can imagine, is still living the life of a prisoner. I would ask you to react to a band and a song you may never have heard of: Digital World, Amaranthe. The best lyric in the song is, "Freedom is for sale/if you give them control." These are some of the things I look around and ask why is it that we let so many diversions keep us divided and not paying attention? Then I remember history, and the Roman Empire -- and remember that just as they had their "bread and circuses," so too do we, and it almost has, as it's motive, free people giving up that freedom for the purpose of control and subjugation. "I would rather live in dangerous freedom, than a peaceful tyranny." ~ Thomas Jefferson Edit: The child saying "I will follow" is deservedly creepy, and for good reason: Because too often today, parents want to abdicate being parents, and not raise their kids. Even with my generation (I'm an '80s baby), parents would put their kids in front of the TV "babysitter" in the late '90s. Now, it's putting iPads in the hands of kids like my 5-year-old niece, for the same reason. To get the full meaning of this song, I highly recommend watching the music video. It is very powerful in it's imagery and message.

Not against technology per se, but rather how it's being used - fake people doing fake things for fake fame on fake media, and how the reality behind the façade may not be so pretty.. Great song, great performance. The music video (scenes of which could be seen in the background during this one) is super effective and kind of creepy, with all sorts of disturbing images -- well worth a watch. The song ends on an optimistic note, not as obvious here, with soothing harmonies and scenes from nature.

If you love classic films by Japanese director Akira Kurosawa, you know that "The Magnificent Seven" inspired "The Seven Samurai, "Star Wars IV" inspired "the Hidden Fortress", Clint Eastwood in "A few dollars more" is inspired by "Yojimbo", and the Start Trek TNG episode "A Matter of Perspective" is inspired by "Rashomon". -Well, Nightwish are probably the BEST at doing operatic voice-when you least expect it; they were not the first: inspired by the East German, punk-rock. G#1 - B7opera-singer: Nina Hagen. I think everyone would enjoy a reaction (don't peek first) to "Nina Hagen Naturtrane (Rockpalast)" BUT- first you'll have to check out Pink Floyd "The Great Gig in the Sky" and King Crimson "In the Court of the Crimson King" to get (one of several) references in Nina Hagen's performance. Think Crocodile Dundee "that's not a knife...THIS is a knife" Nina Hagen "that's not vamping for the camera ... THIS is vamping for the camera..."

@@maggiereneemusic Haven't had a chance to analyze that one yet- For this video, there are themes of tech-takeover and screen-addicts, but the production reminds me of an essay years ago about MySpace and Pro-Wrestling. The writer mentioned how, whenever he mentioned that he enjoyed watching pro-wrestling, the FIRST question everyone asked him would be "you KNOW it's not real, RIGHT?" These were the same friends who were carefully retouching, cropping, and curating their social media lives into something that was equally scripted. So, the jinky computer game feel emphasizes "this isn't real". A better way to think on this is, looking at this song as an update to Rush's 'Limelight' (about how being in a rock band IS theater because you're always playing a role). Now that applies, not just to music stars, but thanks to social media, it now applies to almost everyone- "All the world’s indeed a stage We are merely players Performers and portrayers Each another’s audience..."

Illegal? Bands and labels can bring any song down if they want, because youtube content ID recognizes and reports these uploads, and they are usually always copyright claimed, so that labels will get their money (it's not much, but they have agreed to terms). Reactors and other "content creators", such as me, we don't get a dime. Bands get huge amount of "free" PR through this reaction scene, and that is why they allow it. One new real fan will bring them much more money than a thousand casual listeners, because we buy everything they publish, go to their gigs, buy merch, and on top of it, we listen to them on these streaming services.

@@NightwishArena @jw geurts has a point. For simplicity let's say there are three kinds of music videos. One: videos that are posted on youtube by those that own the rights. For those your argument may be valid (I think it is, some IP holders disagree). Two: fanmade videos of live concerts. Fans should not upload them short after the performance when the tour is still in progress. Nightwish sometimes/often explicitly askes the audience not to do so at the beginning of concerts. But if the video is on youtube and not blocked by the rightsholder, probably still sort of ok to react to. Three: payed content that has not been published by the rights holder. That is what this was. Here your argument fails. People should not react to that, unless they were granted permission from the rightsholder before publishing. That the company can ask afterwards to take a video down is correct, but totally irrelevant. Nuclear Blast has been very generous (ok, perhaps for self-interest reasons) to reactors and us as a public. Let's give them credit for that by respecting their legitimate interests.

They still get their money through YT's ContentID system. Those millions of views from casual people won't make them too much money in anyway, but those other millions views do, because they are the real fans, who will buy everything they can afford, even if it's in YT.
