One of the reasons she got a bad rap was because of Dark Passion Play. Half the songs were written for Tarja and Annette did her best but didn't really fit the "feel" of them. Imaginaerium was the first album that was written exclusively with Annette's vocals in mind and god *damn* did Nightwish knock it out of the park.

Floor is majestic but that was not the point. The point is that NW is alive because of their old material. And Imaginarium is probably their best work. Even bloody Marco couldnt stand that pile of trash anymore. The Dark Element is more Nightwish than Nightwish themselves. Now hold Anette's beer while she sings her heart out in TDE.

All of the different singers had their own styles that came out in the band when they were present. Tarja had a powerful operatic voice which led to songs like Nemo and Wish I had an Angel. Anette had a faster and more delicate voice, which provided a good contrast to the usual heavy style of the band. Floor just fucking works, which is why I would say she's my "favorite." Although, it isn't really fair to say which is better since they were so different. I think what would make more since is to say who fits the songs better, not about who is a better songer. As much as I love Floor though, I have to say this is Anette's song.

I actually found out about Nightwish through a book. John Ringo's "Under a Graveyard Sky" has a killer playlist in back that one of the main characters listens to. It has been really fun listening to the music as the action happens. :)

Makes me think of back when I lived by a river, and had a little sailboat. It leaked, but luckily had an inner hull so it was just more ballast. I'd sail down that river in the morning and not come back until nearly sundown. I'd have the occasional mishap, but there was only one time I didn't make it back until after dark. Oh, I would have, but the wind died a little early. Mostly. I'd get a breath here and there, just enough to make headway against the gentle current. I was making it. I had to shake my head when my dad came out to "rescue" me in the canoe. He'd tried that before one time when we lived by a lake instead and I got caught in the lee of an island. He flipped the canoe. This time he'd gotten it down though. I still didn't think he should've risked it. I was doing fine. Slow but steady, and it was really peaceful.

I just watched the movie this evening - I had *no idea* Tuomas actually wrote a movie for this album...and it got made!!!! The Easter eggs in the film are wonderful, the storyline seems pure Tuomas, and I *LOVE* how the whole band is in it!!!! Not to mention the pure magic at hearing bits of tracks to the album intertwined throughout. I'm going to watch it again. And maybe again after that.

This song really is a lyrical masterpiece... However the album version are so well... digitalized. Regardless who sings it, be it Floor or Anette, the chorus completely pales to the live versions(Any singer). Anette did it with such a huge smile in her bright tone, Floor also does it with a huge amount of energy and a smile... but what really makes the chorus stand out is Marco's sheer power. I know that the album has a theme and much of Anette's sound are digitalized to fit that "style" and Marco's not allowed to sing from the top of his lungs due to him breaking peoples sound equipment... but... yeah I sort of feel it's pretty lacklusting after hearing it live five times.

My introduction to this band was seeing the video for the song ‘Nemo’ on kerrang and since then I have had a fairly healthy obsession with them and their combination of mind blowing vocals and the mix of rock and orchestral music. In a nutshell quite simply one of the best bands about
