I cant imagine Nightwish without Floor. She is an angel with electrifying voice and stage performance. Never seen such a talented singer. Always Jaw drop and goose bumps.

You can tell Floor loves to sing "Ghost Love Score" when she sings it. She SLAYS the song, and now it's become her trademark live. I hope third time's the charm for Nightwish's quest for the right vocalist, and Floor stays onboard.

I think it's because of the fact that she has another band also, so Nightwish's touring schedule could collide with ReVamp's and I'm sure the guys don't want to do that.

True, but isn't Marco in another band too? If so, that shows it's not impossible. Obviously ReVamp is her baby though. I just hope she doesn't have another burn out. She's going to tour a good amount with ReVamp this year, then go and record with Nightwish only to start touring again with Nightwish.

Yeah, of course you're right about Marco. But they are a really small band and tour only in Finland so it's not as much of a hassle as with Floor. Same with Emppu and Brother Firetribe. But all worries aside, apparently they overcame those problems cause she's in the band now :)

@@023achilles I felt that way for several years, I just didn't want to listen to the older studio albums after hearing Floor's versions of the older stuff, but.... I bought the From Wishes To Eternity and End of An Era shows on Blu-ray/DVD and found new appreciation for Tarja (especially from watching FWTE a few times). Floor is my unquestioned favorite and the perfect singer for Nightwish, both for her voice from a technical aspect, and her artistry (how she uses her amazing instrument), but Tarja was awesome too and deserves much love from Nightwish fans. Annette had her moments as well, and her version of Slow Love Slow is still my favorite.

Gets Tuomas and new vocalist in for interview. First question. “What happened with Annette.” I’d say that’s pretty disrespectful.

Floor is beatiful....

She is amanzingly beautiful. And her voice, my GAD! Her voice is perfect.

It is quite clear that Toumas Holopainen is a very very intelligent person. It's so clear by his composure on subject he does not want to talk about. Calm and collected and of course tired from all touring. But you can see in his eyes, his intellect shines through.

I saw the Waken show On youtube, I didn't know Floor Jansen at all and I believe that she is by FAR the best singer nightwish ever got. It's all a matter of taste but still, Her presence, voice and character works really well with the whole vibe of the band.

Actually Annettes lawyers don't let them speak about what happened. I think she did it because she saw what they did with Tarja and how badly Tuomas spoke about her and she wanted to protect herself over it

He hints very well , Annette didn’t want temporary replacements including Eliz and Alissa in Denver and she admits that even if she would accept a temp replacement, she feared Floor would definitely outshine her. Let’s be honest , Floor did outshine her . Annette may have been difficult but she knew the facts on her tenure was in trouble . Tuomas’s point of view is that the cliche “Show must go on”.

And the rest is history! Floor is it and making serious waves!

Floor in my opinion is in this very moment the best female metal voice,she saved imaginaerum tour for us with those amazing performances,she deserves an album with nightwish,will be the most expecting album of the genre.

Tuomas is quite the interesting fellow. I can never tell what he's thinking during these interviews. I feel like we only ever see his true emotions and thoughts in his music/lyrics. A lot of people like to paint him as an petty evil dictator who enjoys manipulating the band members, but I have a hard time believing that. But at the same time I can see how he can come off as strange or intimidating. Then again we don't know how he acts off camera behind the scenes with the rest of the band. I just honestly can't read his facial expressions or behavior haha. Anyway I'm just rambling. Hopefully Floor stays with Nightwish for a good many years :) Here's to a new era \m/

When break-ups happen, sympathy is on the side of person who got kicked out. And easily you sympathize with the girl when the other side is a bunch of boys (well, men). To me it was the band that fired Tarja, all togeher, not just Tuomas. In fact he went in a bad depression as is known by now. The depressions is, as is "The Poet and the Pendulum", Tuomas' love note to Tarja. Yes they felt they had different values at THAT point, that Tarja (or her husband) got more interested of the possibilities of Tarja's solo career, which resulted Tarja's diminished time with the band. But looking at their song lyrics, the poetry, their celebration of compassion and all life, dislike of greed, I don't think Tuomas or the band is evil people.

I am the opposite. I thought he seemed like a very nice and intelligent guy. Everyone seems to sympathize with him also. But after watching the documentary, and thinking of all the other pieces of evidence of the way that they treated their singers, I no longer think he such a good guy. I do think he's manipulative and petty.

@@Aurinkohirvi Ok this might come off weird since it's been a year since you commented this, but I have been revisiting a few old NW interviews that I used to watch and I keep seeing you around in the comments, and I have to say that you're a very level headed fellow. I saw you dealing with a lot of other commenters who like to put things into black and white and I know it can be very grating, but yeah like your comment above, it just surprised me to see because you don't really get a lot of it when in a Nightwish video (level-headedness, I mean. Most of the time, you get people still fighting over who's the better vocalist, or who's fault who left who).

Floor has an Amazing voice

I think Floor will stay with Nightwish for a long time. From everything I've read, and everything I've heard, she's the singer they wanted from the beginning.

She demanded a personal jet en threatened to go solo if her demands were not met. She got what she wanted (going solo). And Nightwish finally got the singer they deserved. FLoor is the best thing to ever happen to Nightwish.

So funny that they said they didn't know if Floor continues in Nightwish. *But* later in the years floor reveals that they asked her and Troy to become members permanently and wanted to reveal this bit of information around Christmas time (but the documentary forced them a little bit). Love to the band. Respect

My favorite song it's Ghost Love Score too! And it became my favorite after watching Floor's interpretation live on Wacken/Buenos Aires. But Tarja's version in studio is really good too, a diferent emotion

There is no denying Tuomas is a musical genius. But you cannot tune a human being (much), so you have to work with the human voice you can find. Floor seems both grateful for the opportunity and rightfully proud of her abilities. I hope they choose to get along and see the beauty of the band and the girl, and not see either as eclipsing the other. Music is both the imagining of the emotion (Tuomas) and the channeling of that emotion (the band...and Floor).

On paper, and judging from recent tour performances, Floor and Nightwish are THE perfect match. Nightwish needs a strong vocalist with a good range, epic intensity and stage presence - which Floor has - and Floor needs a brilliant composer and popular band to front (she loves performing to big audiences) - which Nightwish has. The only thing that remains to be seen is whether Floor and the NW boys get on well and find they have a spark/personal chemistry together! Fingers crossed.

I read an interesting article about how Tarja's departure introduced a growth in Tuomas' writing that was held back by her very specific style of vocals. Anette's style helped him become the song-writer that he is today, and it seems like Floor will help continue that tradition. Hopefully she lasts longer than 2 albums.

Interesting to read some comments about Tuomas,and his emotions/expressions. One short answer made me smile and laugh abit though. "Its just cause hes Finnish". I have actually talked with numberous Finnish people,who agreed upon the same thing. They thought of theyr own kind (Finnish people) as somewhat cold on the outside,might come off as cold people in public. But if you take the time to get to know them,they blossom with emotions and expressions. As a Nordic brother of Tuomas and Finnish people,i can truly relate. Many has stated that it can be of the clima/weather we have in most parts of the Nordic countries. A long,hard winter,a extremely short spring,a short summer,then abit longer fall,before the much longer winter again. Some actually never experiences true summer,as it goes from straight over from signs of spring,to fall again. It all depends on where you live,within each Nordic country. Also,i have learned to know Tuomas through media,as a rather uncomfortable person in the spotlights. He prefers smaller clubs,venues to play in,above huge stadiums/arenas they sell out. Most in the band might feel the same. And he comes off very humble,doesnt like to talk about himself too much. But rather focus on the other members if asked,or focus on Nightwish as a whole,rather then individuals.

The fact that someone sings better doesn’t mean it’s ok to kick them out like this....anyways, no need to thrash down passed singers....what’s done is done, if they’re in peace with it, it’s what matters....none of our business....that letter in the past was a di*k move though....that being sad, if they’re more happy like this....it’s their life in the end

I love how Floor pretty much describes why "Ghost Love Score" is such a great song. I mean, heck, it's so great that an entire Internet meme has been constructed around it!

She wasn't ridiculed because she wasn't Tarja. She was ridiculed because they didn't like her voice. Her voice didn't suit what made the most famous Finnish band so popular. So all of you fans out there, please stop saying all she can do is sing like Tarja and Anette. I've most likely listened to this woman way longer than most of you, and there is more to her than what you saw in the Nightwish performances. Be grateful you have someone with so much talent and dedication in this band.

I'm glad to see someone actually mention Sammi for once! I always really enjoyed his bass style and it's something I miss, though I enjoy Marco's style too. It's a shame he gets so overshadowed, but I guess inevitable when the next bassist has such a presence as Marco does.

So nice to listen to this interview, and be aware how Wacken 2013 became that awesome gig, with all those close to perfect songs in the set and the exchange of energy with the audience.

Have you heard Floor's studio work though? Especially with ReVamp she does the belting justice and brings quite a lot of power and edge to her vocals.

This interview happened about 9 months before the magical Wacken 2013 show. And Floor was already signed as permanent member of the band before that show even though it was announced only later for marketing reasons.

I thought that "Once" sounded so dramatic... I thought it could be made into a rock musical or something so when I heard about Imaginaerum I was so excited!! I can't wait for its release later this month... I kept watching out to see if it would be released in theatres here in Ireland.

People have their tastes, and I will respect those. Strictly speaking for myself, I own all of the Nightwish media and only listen to the Floor editions - I just can't listen to Tarja - like a hammer on an anvil to me. Too heavy in opera voice for my tastes. For those who like it, I applaud your loyalty,, we just aren't ever going to meet at a show.

However, there are songs that I like more with Tarja's voice, and there are also songs that I like most with Anette's voice. But for anything live and most of the NW content, I like Floors voice the most. She is just so good at everything.I have hard time imagining Tarja "singing" those growl voices in Yours is an empty hope, etc, and Floor really made Ghost love Score marvellous. In addition, Floor really can work the crowd from stage. But anyways, what I'm trying to say here (I think) is that from fan perspective, I think we are kinda spoiled to have up to three (!) great official versions of many of the songs. Each can pick and choose the versions they like best. All of the singers were great. I know Anette is dissed more, but she is really good on some of the songs (from the era when Tuomas made songs for her voice).

Tuomas, that question about Floor joining permanently is not "a tricky one", it's actually quite easy. Proper answers (pick any): "Yes","Definitely","Most certainly","100 % sure","Certainly","Oh yeaaaaaah !" :-)

Oh, God, they're only starting to rehearse for the new album in 2014! I can't wait that long!

Tuomas's English is extremely good. I'm a natural born English speaker, and I think that he's a better speaker than me. Floor is a really good English speaker as well. I hope this band keeps going.

Can't wait till 2014 for the new album! I have practically everything nightwish related, anyone at my school who knows nightwish was mainly because of me, I got into being a musician and playing the keyboard because of them :)

Yea she left Monday October 1st and Floor replaced Annette that same day to continue the American concerts. I actually did not know anything about Floor and when I found out about Annette leaving that day, I was not sure about going to the concert anymore because I would have loved to hear Annette sing live to the songs from the new album because I felt it was better than the last. When I had gone to the concert that Saturday, Floor just did an amazing job and I was not disappointed at all!

a lot of people still grieve over Tarja, but Nightwish wasn't just Tarja alone. Anette was ok but a band like this requires a stronger voice, and Floor is absolutely amazing! AND most importantly she suits their music, she can carry the songs both old and new and she simply fits in, she has a powerful appearance too. Now again they sound their best live, Floor may be the best thing that happened to them!

Floor made Nightwish able to reach their potential as a band. ”Ghost Love Score” is HER song.

I think most people who are thinking objectively can see that Floor is an exceptionally talented vocalist and Nightwish could only benefit from having her as a permanent member. However, from what I can tell, Floor is still heavily involved in her own band. She is talented enough that she has lots of options. It seems odd to think of it this way, but joining Nightwish might not actually be a step up for her.

Tuomas would make an amazing Santa Claus.

If you have yet to see the Imaginaerum movie. You will want to see it. It brings the album to life even though the score in the movie is not the album songs. A well done movie from a great band. If you have the ability, see the movie. It is incredible.

I developed a new respect for Tuomas after this interview. The way he refuses to dish any dirt on the parting of ways between Nightwish and Annette. I think it shows a great deal of ethics and respect to not rehash the situation for everyone who ask. All too often band trash former members and Tuomas simply refuses to sink to that level. As a side note, the hat is truly classic. Regardless of what the next incarnation of the band brings, I will still be a fan.

Too late for a reply but Annette put her lawyers in and made sure she was not mentions again. It was a shitshow how it ended and by putting her lawyers in between she protected herself but not letting Tuomas speak about her the same way he did with Tarja

I´m pretty sure that it´ll be hard for her to leave behind all the affection and gratitude the fans of nightwish are giving to her. Like she said, her first show with nightwish was magical. Its my opinion.
