Nightwish at Wacken - Ghost Love Score (LIVE - First Time Reaction: Performance Coach Reacts

Музыка

Finally Floor Jansen with her band Nightwish singing Ghost Love Score LIVE at Wacken...first time live music video reaction. So many of you wanted me to do her cover of Lara Fabian's song Adagio but I thought this would be a better introduction to the singer than a cover that I am very familiar with.

Hello That’s Not Acting Either [Brandon Scott] ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing at Wacken Open Air in 2013, together with Floor Jansen, the 3rd and present female singer of the band, in front of an 82K+ audience. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [The 1st Bassist of the band was Sami Vanska, he was with them until 2001. The 2nd one was Marco Hietala, as Bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least - we'll see what the future brings to us. Then very recently (May 2021) Jukka Koskinen became the 3nd Bassist of the band, for at least the Human :II: Nature tour] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol " Hoping you'll continue this journey with us, I'll drop here a list of songs (with links) with the current lineup of the band you may like (please consider this list of links only as "a tip of the iceberg", an indication that they have a vast and very diverse repertoire, and NOT as something mandatory): "Storytime" live at Wacken 2013 (uplifting vocals) kzread.info/dash/bejne/oqqfu9mIer21frg.html "Romanticide" live at Wacken 2013 (metal) kzread.info/dash/bejne/rK6TmbF8c7TSiNY.html "Ever Dream" live at Wacken 2013 (uplifting vocals) kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y4ydltBxlK3Jdps.html "Song Of Myself" live at Wacken 2013 (dark/metal) kzread.info/dash/bejne/noWpl7Ojmceuh8o.html "I Want My Tears Back" live at Buenos Aires 2018 (celtic / folk vibe) kzread.info/dash/bejne/hnaDxsmxmsWWm7A.html "Dead Boy's Poem" - live Buenos Aires 2018 (soulful ballad) kzread.info/dash/bejne/hWx5la5wl8qyfbA.html "Ghost River" live at Wacken 2013 (metal) kzread.info/dash/bejne/YmmZy9adXainZqw.html "Dark Chest Of Wonders" live at Wacken 2013 (metal, the greatest show opener ever) kzread.info/dash/bejne/gaqDppixlcbWmJc.html "My Walden" live at Wembley 2015 (celtic / folk) kzread.info/dash/bejne/naKlx6txYJrAnLw.html "Sleeping Sun" live at Vizovice Masters of Rock festival 2016 (ballad) kzread.info/dash/bejne/ooqEtrd-h5S2dbA.html "The Islander" live at Tampere 2015 (Marco in charge..) kzread.info/dash/bejne/jKNs0MWEj5jRqsY.html "Stargazer" live at Tampere 2015 (operatic vocals / metal) kzread.info/dash/bejne/gJx516OJidDFhco.html "Alpenglow" live at Wembley 2015 (uplifting / metal) kzread.info/dash/bejne/eKZ-2K2TfqjOZ8o.html "Sahara" live at Tampa 2016 (middle eastern vibe) kzread.info/dash/bejne/noiqu8iFkZe9nM4.html "Slaying The Dreamer" live at Buenos Aires 2018 (metal) kzread.info/dash/bejne/qXVoltajkbObnpM.html "Devil & The Deep Dark Ocean" live In Buenos Aires 2018 (metal) kzread.info/dash/bejne/pmZq1MGvcby3YLQ.html "Weak Fantasy" live at Tampere 2015 (dark metal) kzread.info/dash/bejne/c4JmlZuJktTImtI.html "7 Days To The Wolves" live at Wembley 2015 (dark metal) kzread.info/dash/bejne/iqqnyNl6gMW9iMY.html And if you want to be surprised by Floor's vocals :) then try "Yours Is An Empty Hope" live at Mexico City in 2015 kzread.info/dash/bejne/dqmru5OdXa6vo9Y.html @Nightwish Arena: Since most of the reactors end up doing a lot of reactions from Wacken 2013 concert, they should be warned that there are a lot of slowed down and even high pitched versions of this concert, so it is better to use only official videos or this version of the whole concert: kzread.info/dash/bejne/lXWr1tyiZ7SZcs4.html Last but not the least - they released their 9th studio album on April 10th 2020 named "Human :||: Nature" - just take a peek to their official playlist: kzread.info/head/PLihZ3gi5Yvzc0pfH2cbNKUUX8o3pb8eVg (for example: "Shoemaker", the 3rd track from this album, tells the story of Eugene Shoemaker, one of the founders of planetary science, whose ash was sent on the Moon after his death, as a tribute from the scientific community ..) @@tnae Thank you for your positive response. Please do not consider my message - intense, as you say - as a form of pressure to follow a specific path. Nightwish has composed and performed a real ocean of high level music for the last 25 years (compositional, instrumental, vocal) so in any direction you decide to continue this journey of discovery, I assure you that you will not regret it. You have captured the essence in your final analysis, so I will subscribe. It is not the musical genre that is at the forefront, as you say, but the human essence, of complete dedication through art.

I was at that concert. Wacken Open Air is the biggest Heavy Metal Festival in Europe (or even the World) and Nightwish were Headliner that evening. When she performed this song, she was already singing for more than 60 minutes and she did not miss one single note. Whenever I see/hear this, it gives me goosebumps. This is, what we fans call a "Floorgasm". You nailed the description completely, she is in the moment, she feels, what she is singing and commits to it entirely.

Floor has the empathic ability to draw the emotion out of the lyrics of a song, genuinely feel them, and express them back to an audience, so they feel them, as well. That’s a special gift that few have. She is truly a once-in-a-generation talent.

You have hit the nail on the head when it comes to Floor...she LIVES to be on stage connected to an audience. Nevermind the technical ability, which she has in spades, the joy she projects when she's on stage is just awesome. This was in front of 82,000 plus...but she is the same way in front of 800, it doesn't matter. There are official DVDs of 4 Nightwish shows with Floor, along with hundreds of fan shot vids all over the 'tube, and you won't find a second in any of those vids where it doesn't look like she's having the time of her life, and giving the audience 110%.

She is classically trained soprano, vocal coach, but she doesn’t stick to genre either. She can do it all, from opera to growls from hell. Floor started to sing professionally with her first band as a backup singer at 16 but they quickly realized that she was their key to the top of the European charts so made her lead singer. That band was After Forever and it was a great band. When they disbanded a decade or so years later. Floor decided it was time for her own band. She started ReVamp which lasted basically until 2016, three years after joining Nightwish permanently. ReVamp had enough music for one more album and after that and a brief stage tour, she disbanded them and is now putting most of her time with Nightwish. She does now have a solo career also. Later, check out her performances on a Dutch TV show called Beste Zangers (Best Singers). All her performances on that show were outstanding. Floor was the best fit for Nightwish which had 2 lead singers before her.

Welcome to symphonic metal, its foremost practitioners Nightwish, and the Valkyrie Queen Herself. Floor is a Nederlander and a classically trained soprano (the band is Finnish) who is NW's third and current singer-- she came on board in 2012. In addition to the classical voice training, she has had some formal opera and rock education as well. She is also a voice coach, horsewoman (rides dressage), and lives on a small farm in Sweden with her husband Hannes Van Dahl (drummer for Sabaton), daughter Freja, horses, barn cats, and Fenris, the world's largest dog. AND I agree with you re Lara-- I've been a Lara Fabian fan for well over 20 years!

Enjoy the Journey.

Hi Brandon. Thank you for reacting to this song, as I asked you to do. Your reaction was wonderful to watch. I knew you'd appreciate this. The band is Finnish, but Floor is Dutch. There is also an English multi-instrumentalist in the band, but he wasn't on stage for this performance. Like I said in my recommendation, Nightwish songs are very diverse. Yes, they have the really heavy songs, but there are also beautiful ballads or celtic sounding songs. So I'd love to watch you explore more of their discography as well as Floor's voice and presence. If you're looking for song suggestions, have a look at Gabriel Bardac's comment (he will be here soon). There are a lot of suggestions on his list, they all come with some keywords as to what to expect. Thanks again for taking a look at Nightwish, see you again soon (?) Greetings from the Netherlands.

Dude I wish I could give you more than 1 like for your truly genuine description of your experience listening to Floor for the first time. I truly believe that magic was afoot that night at that concert wether intentionally or not. This all stemming from the structure of the songwriting, the flawlessness & tightness that the band displayed to Floors vocal performance & commanding stage presence & to the Production crew recording the concert & putting the final product out there. Simply magical. Great job! So much more for you to enjoy.

You said it my friend. Floor Jansen (Yahn-sun) is the Dutch Valkyrie QUEEN of symphonic metal. You said it again! It is like an army. The Nightwish army. Then from the opera style coordinated onsets through to the end of the song, your face started to change. Your eyebrows started to express your though process of trying to comprehend this epic and powerfully emotional song. Then your eyes began to show your emotional physical reaction to the amazing and breathtaking vocalizations to end of this composition. Loved it. I think you would love Floor's solo stuff and all of the covers she recorded in her home studio during the pandemic. She did them for all of her fans to give them some love and emotional support while waiting for Nightwish to start their tour. Check out her channel for all of her covers, including Adagio. You may still prefer Lara's version, but Floor does it more than justice. She usually adds a rock element to the musical arrangement. However, her voice is amazing and so powerful Floor is a high sensitive personality and she is able to give so much of herself to every performance. kzread.info/dron/xy4Ijz2QKXXJaREs-isxwA.html - Floor's YT channel Also check out her amazing performances from the Dutch TV show "Beste Zangers". She pays tribute to other Dutch singers on the show by singing songs for them. Everything from Operatic aria to pop songs, and even one that sounds slightly country style. She also sings in English, German, Spanish, and Dutch. It is not a competition. Just 7 Dutch singer honoring each other with emotional musical performances. Great show. See my links for a starter. kzread.info/dash/bejne/c3uZyaWFnNTSdbA.html - Vilja Lied (Vilja's Song - an aria from the operetta "The Merry Widow". Performed by Floor Jansen to honor Henk Poort (Dutch Opera singer). This was the very first performance for the 1st episode of 2019. The other singers did not know Floor and are quite surprised by her ability. They expected some metal rock screamer. This version is provided with a couple minutes of subtitled discussion before the performance. It will help you to understand the concept of the wonderful show. Hope to see you again very soon That's Not Acting Either!

Great reaction. Floor Jansen is a vocal athlete with incredible range, versatility, vocal stamina, and stage presence. She is a spinto soprano with a range of almost four octaves (D3-G#5-F6). When listening to her sing, it is apparent that she has spent the better part of her life fine-tuning her instrument with help from several vocal coaches. Floor can sing in multiple languages and genres and is a Master vocal coach. It is incredible how she is able to take any song from any genre and make it her own. This woman is a true gift to her craft and an incredible addition to a band that has always been great until 2013 when they officially hired the undisputed Queen of Metal, Floor Jansen, making Nightwish the greatest band on the planet. I’ll be honest - 12 months ago, as a self proclaimed extreme fan of heavy metal, I had always heard of nightwish, but never gave them a chance because I always just shrugged them off as another one of those 80’s sounding hair metal bands with a high pitched lead singer (no disrespect to 80’s hair metal bands - just not my thing) - however, as a fan of black metal and music from the region, I was convinced to give them a try, and this song single-handily served as a gateway to me opening my mind and soul to this world - they aren’t anything like hair metal bands (but I even do listen to some hair metal bands now anyways because they taught me how to appreciate everything). I’ve watched countless reaction vids wanting to learn everything I can from others - trying to understand what they see so I can help define my own feelings. At the end, the conclusion is simple: music is beautiful, no matter the genre, because music is art, snd good art reasonates with the human souI. As a subject matter expert in the world of people who have watched reaction vids to this specific song at this specific concert (lol), I must truly admit that you are the most genuine, understanding reaction artist I have seen. Thank you for your review and I look forward to seeing more. Ps, I’m pretty sure this is the first KZread comment I’ve ever posted or at the very least, the absolute longest hahaha. Nightwish Army Texas reporting for duty. Great reaction! Our Valkyrien queen is from the Netherlands. She does stand tall, about 6’1”. I’m convinced she can sing anything and make it sound just how she wants. She puts emotion into all her performances. And this was song 13 of 15 - All FIRE! Goosebumps and teary eyes are not uncommon. She can get much heavier, and will move about more, depending on the song. They have a pretty good spectrum of songs, and she individually goes even broader. Marko, the bassist also sings, backup and harmonies and even lead.

I enjoyed that...It's so easy to be swept away by the music and her singing that I sometimes wish for more commentary on her as a stage performer, though there are certainly many who mention her presence. Right before the guitar solo, when she turns to leave, she doesn't just turn around and walk off, she turns sharply, almost like a soldier would about face, then pauses during the first step, like she knows she has to leave but doesn't want to, then strides with purpose almost in time with the song. That's a stage exit. She has great economy of style, as you noted with her still position in the beginning, so that even a simple movement of a hand commands attention. So, when she does something like raising the arm during the "Hey" section, or headbanging at the end, it looks huge...

Spoiler alert: you love metal, only you don't know yet :P About Adagio, very good to have experienced Floor in her daily job, but now you know you can react to that without problem, you'll not be disappointed. Of course Floor version is not in a show, it's a cover done in her home studio, so on a performance point of view it's not comparable to a Lara concert, but it's EXTREMELY good, no need to compare.

Welcome to the Nightwish Army! Floor is a highly sensitive empath, as such she has the ability to emote through her flawless voice and move one to tears of joy, and bring a depth to her storytelling that few mortals can reproduce. In short, she is a Raven Haired Valkyrie that can stir the soul. Her voice is my therapy. The Wacken 2013 video is up there with the best 98 minutes of live music ever produced.

Like you... metal isn’t typically “my thing”... this isn’t something I’d listen to while driving to work in the morning.. or on a long road trip, it’s just not my style, HOWEVER, that being said... watching this performance makes me want to go see them in concert so badly!!! What an amazing performance! Holy crap it’s powerful! You know me... I’m all about Lara... but I’m definitely looking forward to falling down the Nightwish rabbit hole with you! Lol

Probably won’t see this, this is my favourite band and I was in that audience at Wacken. Absolutely epic. I’ve seen these live with all 3 different singers over many years. Floor Jansen makes them the best they’ve ever been. Go and see this band live!

This is Symphonic Metal. It is basically a mix of opera and metal. And its bloody marvellous. The band Nightwish is from my native Finland and Floor is from the Netherlands. The Nightwish army will head on over to your comment section, if they have not arrived yet. And I for one can recommend going for a few more songs from Nightwish or go see what what Floor has been putting out during the last few years. There is a whole lot of material from this Valkyrian Goddess.

Right choice my friend. THis song is Opus Perfectum of Floor Jansen performance. Just with this single performance she made me a fan of the band for life. This song by her own words has a special meaning to her and I think we could see and feel that. Great reaction.

Nightwish Shadow Unit from Estonia reporting in ! Valkyrie Goddess spotted ! Gabriel Bardac entered ! Floor her name is derived from the Roman Goddess of Spring, Flora. Floor Jansen is called the Valkyrie Goddess of Metal and Empathy. Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 4 octaves (Eb2 to F6) She can sing from classical to belting and raspy vocals like screaming and death growls. And she's also a voice coach and teacher to boot. Floor Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg with classmates Jacqueline Govaert and Danny Vera, where she graduated in 2003. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she gave singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016. From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour. On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Nightwish's second studio album with Jansen as front singer, Human. :II: Nature., was released in April 2020. This was recorded at the 2013 Wacken ( pronounced Vahken) Open Air festival in Germany in front of an audience of 82,000 people. The fiery bull head is the symbol of the festival. We hope, that there is more coming. 🤘😎🤘.

If you follow the "road map" Gabriel gave you you'll have a safe and pleasant journey, it's been tried and tested. When this was recorded Floor had been the replacement singer of Nightwish för just about 10 months. She did her first show in Seattle Wa on Oct 1st 2012 after the band fired Anette, their second singer. This was recorded Aug.3rd 2013. This song wasn't on the set list for the tour originally since Anette didn't have the vocal ability to perform it. But Floor had heard the song when her first band After Forever" toured with Nightwish when Tarja, their first singer, was still in the band, and she loved it. So Floor asked Tuomas (the guy behind the keyboards) if they could make it a part of the set list. And they did, it was song number 13 of a 15 song set. There's som minor variations in the backing between Floors and Tarjas version, mainly that the choir have been reduced in volume. There's a video on youtube from, I think, Argentina, recorded Dec15th 2012. And there's one of Tarja doing it too. If you want to know more about how Floor got in to the band I can recommend a documentary, also here on KZread called "Please learn the setlist in 48 hours"

BTW this is my opinion, but feel like I speak for many NW fans here. Adagio is an great song. And Lara Fabian is one of the best singer and performer of her time. And I know Flo9r has a huge respect for Lara. That's why she tried to do the best version she could, still staying real for her roots in symphonic or rock metal. Same goes for Heart -Alone cover, and many other covers she did. She just rock'd it up a bit.

Brandon, on her own channel, Floor talks about this song. She recognized, how many reactors did ths song. So She thought, not is better to talk about what she and the band did there. My respect for this Frouwe Jansen, grew enormous. Man stay safe and sound, Merry Christmas. Es ist nur fair in English zu schreiben, wenn die Meisten kein Deutsch lesen können. LOL.

Hello Brandon! First, I have checked out the other videos on your channel, and, from Canada, thank you for paying so much attention to Lara Fabian (Belgian and naturalized Canadian citizen). Yes she is really good and I have seen many, many "Floor vs. Lara" debates over the years! Also, I myself often write in to music reaction channels and recommend "Adagio", so I was pleasantly surprised to hear that others had already beaten me to the punch here !! I would like to make 2 points on Floor: 1) She can sing in a number of different styles, from very, very soft, to a really ear-splitting sonic BELTING. Often I have found on other channels writers prefer her softer side, and therefore recommend her cover of Lady GaGa's "Shallow", from the Beste Zangers concert. I prefer the more powerful, "belting" style, so that is why myself and others may go with "Adagio". 2) Since you are more into acting as well as vocals, one "fun fact" I could point out about Floor: *Did you know she can speak FIVE different languages?* English (the same as we do), Dutch (she was born in the Netherlands), Finnish (the Nightwish band is all Finnish and she briefly lived in Finland and learned the language there to be able to better communicate with the band); Swedish (she is married to a Swede and now lives in Sweden and they speak Swedish at home), and German (she is learning German now so that she can fully participate in the upcoming German TV show "Sing Meinen Song" this coming Spring, 2022. What do you think about Floor potentially doing some acting? I would love to see her, e.g., as the villain against James Bond, or a Klingon warrior in "Star Trek"? Any ideas? (P.S. -- I am also a subscriber to the Wendy Alane Wright channel for information on acting. I am not into acting myself, but I feel I have learned a lot from her channel). And also, as far as Hollywood goes, don't forget her widely acclaimed cover of "Oblivion", from the movie by the same name with Tom Cruise! We're all looking forward to more Floor and Nightwish !! Especially that "Adagio" review !! Keep well ... T.C.
