The male lead is V, he is a member of BTS, an amazing singer. Both IU and V are actually actors, IU has acted in many dramas and movies. V has also acted in a drama and plays a character in the bts universe storyline. The two together are natural actors and are risk takers. This is one of best MV’s in long while. KZread is littered with reactors crying, I’ve not seen such an emotional reaction from them.

IU is a seasoned actress, she is really really good. While V only has done 1 drama, but he is a very talented actor, he should act more fr.

To get so invested in the characters in a five minute movie video shows the abilities of the actors. Amazing job.

IU's name is pronounced as the individual letters: I-U. I mainly know her from her dramas, "My Mister" and "Hotel del Luna", and the movie "Dream". She's a great actress, so her incredible acting here came as no surprise. V has acted in the drama "Hwarang" as well as BTS's MVs, some of which contain a fictional storyline that required acting chops and that he executed amazingly well. They're good friends in real life, so it's no wonder they have great chemistry in this MV. There are two behind-the-scenes videos, one from her channel (IU TV) and one from his (BangtanTV). The director is an award-winning director. They sound beautiful together too. They have sung a duet called "Ending Scene", a lovely song with her clear angelic voice and his deep smooth baritone.

The Director of this music video - Um Tae-hwa - has a film that came out this past year that was South Korea’s entry for the Oscar’s (unfortunately it didn’t get a nomination)- “Concrete Utopia.” I saw it on Viki, but it may be available elsewhere? It was very good.

@@eunicelucia3106 right, but that wasn’t the same director. Concrete Utopia was directed by the same man who directed this music video - Um Tae-wa. Parasite was directed by Bong Joon-ho.

When they run around the corner and see the cubes, there is a look of exhaustion and despair on V’s face which is so nuanced and incredible. IU when she covered his eye at the end really broke my heart. The love and despair and bravery and tenderness of it!

Seriously, the emotions they approached with this video are so subtle and so rarely displayed in media... it's not fear, it's not defiance, it's not stoic resignation. They don't give in, but they also realise their destruction is inevitable, and they only have each other for a few seconds longer... it's despair, sorrow, grief and love, all conveyed in a few brief moments. I was really blown away by their performances!

IU is very much beloved in Korea, both as a musician and an actress. When she acts, she is often credited under her birth name, Lee Ji-eun. Her filmography includes a key role in Broker, a 2022 film that was chosen to compete for the Palme d'Or. The male lead is V (real name Kim Taehyung). He had a role in a K-drama in 2016, but since then he's been very busy as a member of the globally famous pop group BTS. As others have said, he's currently doing his mandatory military service. He shot this video with IU a week before he began basic training. Many folks believe this video is a signal that he might want to do more acting after he finishes his service in 2025.

All of IU’s acting project she chooses rare and challenging roles that she’s never done, all to improve and add to her arsenal. She doesnt like generic stuff. Even in music she explores and does all genres, she learns all vocal techniques and writes lyrics like shes Shakespeare. The fact she is known as the #1 hiphop star in Korea cause of her genius witty lyrics like Eminem. Shes such a Queen.❤

Such a beautiful and emotional video featuring amazing acting and vocals that makes the experience so personal. I really do hope that Tae & IU do other projects together both film and music as they have great chemistry and when he was on her show their voices also blended so well. So powerful how both tried to protect the other and both clung to each other until the very end. It was a potent touch to have their clothes land together on the pile. This last point yet again showing that while they physically lost to the cube, it couldn't destroy their love for each other. They stayed together in life and death, so indeed their love did win. I can't get enough of this MV, the acting is Oscar level and combined with the award worthy vocals and lyrics it's both heartbreaking but also heartwarming that at least they went together.

As other commentators have mentioned, the actor in this video, V from BTS is currently serving his mandatory military service. He was selected as one of only 6 military trainees out of 20,000 as an elite trainee and accepted into South Korea’s super elite counter terrorism unit. Not only is he an amazing singer and actor but currently he’s also a for real, for real soldier. He just excels at whatever he does.

IU has been the top soloist singer in Korea for over a decade and even owns her own production company. She’s known BTS for 10 years and is friends with several of the members (BTS being the biggest group in the world) including V. She asked an award winning top Korean director she has worked with before to film/direct this and it’s all her idea she wanted to make something special. They showed them discussing how she chose a make lead and they couldn’t figure out who could pull off this roll (she could get most A list actors likely) but she thought of V and asked him. I also recommend IUs musical video, 8. It's a beautiful song with a deep meaning regarding losing her friends. She has a moment at the end where she goes through 5 different emotions just staring at the camera and not saying anything.

There have been several notable 'mini-movie' K-pop music videos this past year. 'Haegeum' by Agust D, 'Cool With You' (A and B videos) by Newjeans, 'Top Or Cliff' by Kim Sejeong. You should check them out just to admire their ambition.

I really enjoyed your reaction, I could see you were genuinely getting into it... I was so impressed with both their performances, especially since they're both far more known as singers than actors. IU has acted in some TV dramas before, and while Taehyung has only had one small TV role so far, he's acted in a lot of music videos as part of his group, BTS. As far as I know he never trained in acting, only learned 'on the job' as it were. BTS actually has an entire series of music videos with an interconnected storyline which I highly recommend you reacting to. It starts with 'I Need U (original ver.)' followed by a featurette drama called 'BTS 화양연화 on stage: prologue'. They were a lot younger when they made those and only one of them had any acting experience, but I was really impressed by their performances, and got so drawn into the story! There's a whole series of music videos released over several years which gradually reveal a storyline... they also have a series of dramatic short films leading up to their album 'Wings', which was a concept album inspired by the novel 'Demian' by Herman Hesse, but woven into the pre-existing storyline they were building. Honestly it's some of the most daring, interesting, affecting work I've seen from any pop artist in the last decade, I really recommend you get into their stuff!

I’m never more impressed by art than when the piece is hugely ambitious, and then it completely, 100% delivers on what it has attempted to do. As you say, nobody needs to try to do something like this. It takes enormous confidence in yourself and the team around you to try it. Extraordinary.

I don't know a lot about IU, except what I've learned in recent days. I recommend "[IU TV] I caught the flu that day" to see behind the scenes of the mv shoot and "IU 'Love wins all' Recording Behind" for the song recording session. She's a brave person, tough, resilient, and disarmingly funny. ("When you upload this video, please make the title 'IU's last recording.') I have seen V, on the other hand, through behind the scenes videos back to 2013. He is a natural-born actor, to the point that his own bandmates would be fooled. He and his friend Jimin naturally fall into play-acting when they are bored on set, creating a scenario of their own that usually involves characters bickering. Several times he has launched into the most believable expressions of pain and sorrow, the fandom became concerned. On the other hand, he is very expressive of his actual emotional state, too. So, although he hasn't done much formal acting, he's been "acting" and gauging his effect on his audience for years. [And honing his comic timing...] Probably since young childhood. IU also has an upcoming Netflix kdrama next year which is the highest budget of the production team..she's the most anticipated Korean actress and Korean musician this year according to the critics (she hasn't released music for about 2 years and her last kdrama was 6 years ago)..she is very prone to getting love calls by the kdrama industry and very famous movie directors couldn't hide their sadness when IU would back out or not accept a lead role from them (ex: the webtoon Money Game as a kdrama and the new Netflix drama this year titled Queen of Tears which came from one of the top directors who keep on releasing viral high rated dramas)

Great Reaction Beautiful Queen! I love IU's MV and IU and TaeTae's acting was excellent. TaeTae was blind in one eye and IU was deaf/mute, but they saw the beauty of each other. They looked normal to each other when they looked at each other through the camera. The evil cube sees them as inferior or imperfect and wants to destroy them. At the end you could see smoke rising so yes I believe the evil cube was burning them because you could see their ashes in camera view while their clothes were being lifted on the pile of clothes. Our handsome and multi-talented Kim Taehyung aka BTS V or TaeTae definitely needs to do another K-drama. If you haven't seen K-drama Hwarang you definitely need to see it. It stars TaeTae, Park Hyung-sik and Park Seo-Joon. You watch it because TaeTae is in it, but end up falling for the whole cast. IU's voice is so angelic and she looked so beautiful in the wedding gown. TaeTae and IU need to do a K-drama together if possible when TaeTae is done with military duty. Be Blessed!

If you would notice..IU is actually deaf in this music video as you can see her doing sign languages (in real life IU is also diagnosed with a rare hearing impairment condition) and as for V the guy..he is partially blind that's why in the end IU only covered one eye that's not blind so he couldn't witness the tragedy that will happen..the cube running after them represents the marginalized..when they looked through the lenses of the camera you can see that they're both in a perfect condition and aren't hurt.. basically just recreating those memories.

IU has been in multiple kdramas and even worked with the legendary Song Kang-Ho (actor from Parasite) in the movie Broker which featured at the Cannes Film Festival. She's definitely an amazing actress if she can work alongside someone like Song Kang-Ho and still stand out.
