And then starts to fight, he’s going to send his own mama to the grave with his quick temper and wanting to fight anyone in his way. She wanted to go out for her birthday, he should have taken his mom out for her birthday. If she’s not suppose to drive for health reasons, then where’s her kids to do something special for her? After the EMTs asked for him to stop stressing her out(raising her BP), he got angry at being told what to do. As he raised his voice to argue, the EMT demanded that he get out of the truck. He was simply doing his job, accessing the two elderly women's injuries when the son of one of them came in and suddenly got angry at the EMT and attacked Theo. He didn't deserve the attack. Now, the other EMTs, other than having to treat the two elderly ladies, they have to treat one of their own. I can't believe someone would be so brutal to someone who is helping people. I am glad that the perp got detained and has jail time for his brutal assault on an EMT.

I have a friend who's an EMT in New York, hes been assaulted, stabbed, shot at, etc. More times then I can count, it happens all too often man and it's really sad, tho it's a good thing to know you always gotta keep your guard up, I'm also planning on being an EMT so it's an eye opener you know? Edit: spelling

Idk what state you’re in. But 7 years of doing it and going on calls where cops are 30min plus away, you’d be wise to get proficient with a gun and conceal carry. Most of us do where I’m at, especially night shift. Shootings and stabbings every night. I had a pretty wicket stab wound the other night you could put 4 fingers in the guys ribs. Make sure that’s not you. 13-20 dollars an hour isn’t worth it. Rule number one, take care of yourself and your partner first.

Speaking from experience, charges of attacking a medical professional are usually reduced or thrown out completely. The excuse usually given is that the offender "was going through a difficult time when the incident occurred." In short, everyone basically gets one free punch.

Not my experience. Ive seen it twice, and the assaulter was fully prosecuted both times. Judges have zero sympathy for attacking emergency response or any other hcp. Only problem is it goes unreported a lot.

I went through something like this. My unit was at a scene vs telephone pole, when a drunk driver didn’t see our lights, the 3 SO,cars or the 13 wreckers? As I was thrown towards the open back doors, my hand finally caught the Iv bar and saved me from flying out the back and on to the concrete. That was 1985 and I have had back trouble ever since. I am currently in a wc due to 3 lumbar discs that I have nursed off and on all these years. It ended my EMS career immediately, and I still miss it today. Y’all take care out there!

One who cannot control their emotions is WEAK. It is clear to me that he was very angry, but underneath that anger was fear. His family was injured, so it is understandable. However, the law is the law. Don't assault someone just because you're scared, and ESPECIALLY don't assault someone who is trying to help YOU. He says the EMT put his hands on him first? Well, actually, sir, he was trying to guide you out of his truck so you wouldn't cause any more emotional instability than there already was. You were being a hindrance, so you needed to leave. Unbelievable.
