    How bad does it have to be that an electrical engineer has to try to seek refuge in the U.S. from an ostensibly developed country like China? Someone with that training should be able to get work anywhere. Also shame on that governor who tried to discourage the residents of his state from unionizing.

    Wake up. That chinese engineer did not sneak out of China to seek refuge in the USA where btw there are secret Chinese police stations in both Canada and the USA now to deal with chinese who left china illegally or were political dissidents there. The chinese coming across your border are not coming for "asylum" but for something much more insidious and dangerous to your country. Ask yourself why the chinese migrants are all single young men of fighting age while all the rest of the illegal migrants come with their spouses, children and extended family members? Why are these young chinese men taking firearm training in Mexico before they cross? And why is the Chinese government facilitating their trip from Peru up to your border with numerous chinese way stations to stay in?

    Think the court schedule is the judge is going to hear paperwork on the gag order at 9-9:30am tomorrow morning. At 11 or 11:30am, they are going to meet with the jurors, but not sure why. Trump today outside screaming with his Maga supporters that they want much less court security. Am ok with this if he leaves Secret Service home, ditches his bullet proof vest and thick diaper.

I’m almost 47 now but at 26, looking out on the beach at the sea of people and the ocean, I had to look at the horizon to stop my knees from visibly shaking so that my voice didn’t shake to sing Black Velvet I was so nervous 😂❤

    I really don’t understand… how do protests on campuses here help stop the war? What is the school supposed to do?

  • @RaymondHng

    @RaymondHng

    Ай бұрын

    During the Vietnam War, college campuses became hotbeds of anti-war activism and protest. The Baby Boom Generation was leading these protests. The draft system meant that young men were being conscripted to fight in a war that many did not support or understand. This fueled anger and resentment among college students, who felt their lives were being dictated by a government they didn't trust. The 1960s were a time of social upheaval and activism, with college campuses serving as centers for movements advocating civil rights, feminism, and environmentalism. The anti-war movement was part of this broader wave of activism, fueled by idealism and a desire for social change. The Vietnam War was the first conflict to be extensively covered by television, bringing the brutality and chaos of war directly into people's living rooms. Seeing the horrors of war on TV galvanized opposition to the conflict, particularly among young people. Colleges and universities were environments where critical thinking and questioning authority were encouraged. Professors and intellectuals often took a stand against the war, providing intellectual and moral support for student activists. Student-led organizations, such as Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), played a crucial role in organizing protests and spreading anti-war sentiment on campuses across the country. These groups organized rallies, teach-ins, and marches to mobilize support and raise awareness about the war's injustices. As the war dragged on and the death toll mounted, opposition to the war grew. The escalation of U.S. involvement, including the use of tactics like napalm and Agent Orange, further outraged the public and fueled anti-war sentiment. Some protests turned violent, particularly after the Kent State shootings in 1970, where National Guard troops killed four unarmed students during a protest. This event radicalized many activists and intensified opposition to the war. Overall, the college campus anti-war protests during the Vietnam War were a significant part of the broader anti-war movement, reflecting a generation's rejection of war, imperialism, and government policies they saw as unjust. These protests played a crucial role in shaping public opinion and ultimately contributing to the eventual end of U.S. involvement in Vietnam.

    These pro palestinian protests reminds me of the angry white protests during the segregation and civil rights times. The seething hate and the threats and the mob action is very reminiscent of the way the anti black pro white mobs treated the blacks during the Jim crow days. How can the American government allow this to continue !!! Especially when there's millions starving and being killed by bombs in Sudan by the arab islamic colonizing army.

    A Tribute to Ukraine The Fight Where were you when the walls came crumbling down. Fearing for our lives In our home towns. Where children once played Laughter was everywhere We now find graves Seems like only...we care. But now, We're standing side by side Defending arm in arm Praying for our lives. And now, We're standing toe to toe Fighting hand to hand Dying for our nation's soul. Instrumental 🎶 If we lose. If this was our last fight. I promise you We didn't run and hide. Only one way to live Head high and full of pride What we would give Our blood and tears we cried. But now, We're standing side by side Defending arm in arm Praying for our lives. And now, We're standing toe to toe Fighting hand to hand Dying for our nation's soul. Instrumental 🎶 A burst of lightning coming from the morning sky confuses all We will not run and hide. But now, We're standing side by side Defending arm in arm Praying for our lives. And now, We're standing toe to toe Fighting hand to hand Dying for our nation's..... And then, There's one thing that remains. Fight until the death Fight for our Ukraine. But now, Our prayers were not met By those who stood by By those who would forget. . There's two different routes. Some fly into Ecuador since that country does not require a visa from China. Then, they use ground transportation to get to Mexico. The Darién Gap is a geographic region that connects the American continents, stretching across southern Panama's Darién Province and the northern portion of Colombia's Chocó Department. Comprised of a large watershed, dense rainforest, and mountains, it is known for its remoteness, difficult terrain, and extreme environment, with a reputation as one of the most inhospitable regions in the world. While the Darién Gap has been considered to be essentially impassable, in the 2010s thousands of migrants, primarily Haitian-and in the 2020s, thousands of Venezuelans-crossed the Darién Gap to reach the United States. By 2021 the number was more than 130,000, and 2023 is on pace for 500,000 migrants for the now more organized 2 ½ day trek, which used to take a week. Of the 334,000 migrants that made the trek over the first 8 months of 2023, 60% have been Venezuelan. In 2023, people fleeing China traveled to Ecuador, then to Necoclí in Colombia, with the intention of crossing the Darién Gap on foot. The number of Chinese people crossing the Darién Gap increased with each passing month in 2023. Search KZread for "The Chinese migrants risking it all for the American dream | 101 East Documentary" and for "Inside the shadowy industries profiting off Chinese asylum seekers in the US | 101 East Documentary" The other route is fly into Cancun, then into Mexico City, then Tijuana on ground transportation. This can cost up to $15,000.
