NightFire Console Comparison - Cutscenes
Ойындар
Sound effects getting dropped, audio quality worse than a recirculated KZread video, fade outs being too slow, and weird text wrapping? That's NightFire for you.
Notes:
• PS2 audio raised by 10dB to match other consoles.
• PS2 was hacked to run at 480p which may have strained performance but even in 480i the issues it has still pop up.
• GCN was hacked to remove the blur/deflicker filter so it's sharper but this makes the 16-bit dithering more obvious.

PS2 is basically a Charlie Chaplin movie.
Can't believe the amount of Sound Effects dropped in the PS2 version. It's the only one I ever played, never noticed. I always thought the pistol sound missing at the end where he's going after Kiko was intentionally muffled/not actually there.
Eurocom sure had to choose which sounds to compress; the doors sound notably grainier on PS2, as does picking weapons up. Voiceovers on GameCube get heavy, albeit consistent compression in exchange for weapon audio.

Believe it or not, GCN's voice clips are the same sample rate as PS2's meaning they could've sounded the same but somewhere down the line they threw in horribly mixed voices.
The xbox version has a shadow for sakura cutscene while the other two don't. I bet there are additional details elsewhere in the game as well.
The sound quality on the Xbox is not compressed and sounds the best
Interesting little video! Thanks!
This somehow makes me thankful that I grew up with the Gamecube version and not the PS2 version 😅
Wow, the ps2 graphics did not age well O_o
Gamecube is the best

The Xbox version sounds much clearer than the GameCube version.
Xbox is the best of both worlds: - PS2 better sound - Xbox better image
NightFire? Never heard of that
