Joel is an awesome guy too. I discovered him on MySpace in 2006. He was very nice and responsive to messages. Later on when Night Ranger fired Jeff Watson, Reb Beach of Whitesnake and Winger filled in on NR live shows. I doubt the guys in Night Ranger put any weight into my messages, but I recommended Joel. Before long he filled in on a show in Raleigh, NC and soon they announced him as a band member. The 2011 Somewhere in California with Joel on it is one of the best modern albums by any of the 80s rock bands.

Absolutely awesome attitude. That's what guitar is really about - energy, fun and great musicality. God bless those two great musicians.

Brad Gillis is one of the greatest players off all time. Im not so big into Night Ranger, however Brads whammy bar work is hands down the greatest of all time. His work on Speak of The Devil is amazing!!

I remember when Speak of the Devil first came out, I was blown away by the guitar work. And then when I found out it was the dude from Night Ranger, I was like, "What? No way". So I've been a fan of Brad Gillis' ever since. And Joel Hoekstra looks like he could be Sebastian Bach's twin brother.

These guys are such a great band and such nice guys. I was actually hanging out with Brad and Joel at a hotel pool in Florida recently. It was very surreal. What was so great was that they actually treated me like a friend. I'll never forget it.

Yeah Brad & Joel great People and Musicians, and must admit,i was honored to hangout with them at Emerald Theater in Detroit, while i was trying to introducing my self as an former singer of Horoskop band from Macedonia, and of corse they were nice to even listen to me,knowing that i'm not even a letter in their dictionary.Another thing im happy to hear about Joel joying my fave band of all times a speciali David Coverdale. But Honestly not happy about Daug Altrich getting out of the Whitesnake.Anyway i wish you the best wherever you are.

That was a really cool interview, it really showed the love these guys have for the music and performing, and honestly, it would blow me away too, if I were on tour with Journey hanging out with Neal Schon! No matter where we're at in our careers, there's always going to be those moments of pure hero worship...

The mixing on the lav mics are really odd lol keeps distracting me, when it cuts off to complete silence on the last word of half the sentences. Guitars sound sick though, Brad Gilis is insanely talented. One of my favorites up there with Rhoads, Jake E Lee and Chris Poland

Yes, he was indeed great with Ozzy. I loved how he did the classic Ozzy material. I never quite heard why Ozzy never did an album with Brad or why Brad didn't last long. Was it Brad's choice? Perhaps to rejoin Night Ranger? Brad Gillis, Rudy Sarzo, Tommy Aldridge. Great lineup.
