That’s exactly what I love the most about photography. Long exposure at night. The feeling when you’re outside alone in the dark, looking for nice compositions. Feels so rewarding when you’re back home, looking at some descent pictures. All I can say, well done, you did a great job !

I appreciate that you think differently than I do -- that you do is neither good nor bad, neither better nor worse than me. It is just different, and it makes me rethink the way I do my photography. Thank you for that. I appreciate your efforts, your knowledge, and your expertise.

David Green I guess sometimes yes and sometimes no. All depends upon the light-meter - Aperture- Tv - ISO looking at the millennium bridge pics, they looked super sharp. Were any of the final pics post processed or photo-stacked or something. I’d love to make mine pop like yours. The detail in the pillar was crisp. As I say, I am happy with my comps, but they just ain’t sharp, not sure if it’s focus, settings, camera, lenses or just a learning curve and I will figure it out eventually

I'm interested in how you determine your Camera Settings for Night Photography? Are you shooting in Manual? Since you used ISO 200, how did you determine that? Being new, do you get all your info off the light meter? Please Explain?

Hi Gordon, there are a few which I do in the video. When it's a really long exposure u generally take a reading then do an exposure test. All about exposures are explained in more detail here www.theschoolofphotography.com/courses/beginners-photography-course

Loving your videos. I'm a dslr virgin with a wish to make awesome photos. My initial interest was quick pics - sport and wildlife, but I'm loving the artistic flair of long exposure. Awesome work!! 👊😁

The information and the video was great, but 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, the music drove me crazy. Close caption worked with no sound. Thanks for the video. It was very useful. The f stops were tighter than I use but will try f/11 and f/13 at night now. Again THANK YOU!!!!

Thanks for the reply, I have to say I have read a lot of camera reviews but as I recall nothing mentioned about about the 30 sec limit and which cameras have a longer limit. Perhaps something you can share with us in future

I believe you might be mistaken when you stated setting your focal length to 9mm is equal to 18mm for a full frame camera. I think it works the other way around and equals 6mm on a full frame sensor. Different makes of cameras have different crop factors, but any sensor less than full frame converts the lens to a longer f number than full frame. Half-frame cameras usually convert by 1.5 or 1.6.

  • @davidtrill4347

I thought I ought to comment on my above statement, I was wrong in assuming use of a half frame DSLR, I relies now that you were using a new mirrorless four thirds camera which as you rightly say converts to double the focal lenght of a full frame camera.

My request would be not only to show the aperture and ISO and focal length, but also the histogram! Because my problem is with night photografy that most of the time I´ve complete dark pixels AND complete white pixels, especially whith fotos in the streets. And nobody tells you how to avoid this or what is ok and what not. That would be something new in the internet!
