I don’t understand the “thumbs down” - if you’re a great photographer, you’d have wished for information like this and so wouldn’t give a thumbs down. If you’re new to photography, then this information is absolutely vital to great Long Exposure images. I think it was a brilliant video with every bit informative. Thank you!

Thanks Bruce! Sadly there are a lot of people who just dislike for other reasons or without even thinking. It can be quite disheartening being on KZread, but fortunately the positive comments and reasonable, polite people remain the majority and I try to focus on them.

I can't understand it either, Bruce. Some people really go all the way out just to turn perfectly good work down. I am an experienced Photographer. Actually, I love to be called Photographer. And regardless of my vast experience, I always go around to check whatever other people are doing AND LEARN WITH THEM, shamelessly. Acting like that, I hope I will never be obsolete. My word of advise to new Photographers: Always be ready to learn, always get rid of the senseless critics.

I agree Bruce... this was an excellent video, filmed with zest, fun, and good lessons. Some will downvote just 'because'...

are you new to youtube or something? he like to dislike ratio shows over 95% of people who watched this video liked the content and you're whining about 88 dislikes in comparison to 4.4k likes? i wish i could thumbs down your dumbass comment

There are a group of really good photo/camera websites, and Cameralabs is one of them. The Thumbs Down vote should come with a reason, this gives the video creator an idea of what is at fault.
This is by far the best guide on this subject I have seen on KZread. thanks!

General Rule for ND Filters: - Little Stopper (6 Stops) to blur people and movement at 1/2 s - Big Stopper (10 Stops) to blur movements from water and/or clouds for 30s to 1min - Super Stopper (15 Stops) to blur cloud movement w/o water for 2-4min

Probably the most well put together on Long exposure photography I’ve ever seen. Plenty of videos teach people how to shoot long exposure but don’t ever mention Nd filters. this video not only mentioned them but gave a bit of beginner knowledge on them. Very useful 👍

Awesome video! You have done an amazing job explaining this topic.
Thank you for a great guide. I think what makes this one stand out is that you are actually out with your camera doing all the trail and error live on location, as opposed to lecturing behind a desk. That said, i really wish you could talk more about your composition selection and way of thinking when building the frame. Would love to see more of those in depth tutorials . Cheers.

Really great guide Gordon. I do love long exposure photos but in my experience most cameras max out at 30secs exposure. You can use bulb mode but without a shutter release that means holding the button down which isn't possibly for that long without wobbles which just means you miss some opportunities as you didn't bring all you kit of that walk, your camera didn't seem to have this limitation which is cool. Another good thing to remember for dusk shooting down in Brighton is a coat!
Hey Gordon, thanks for sharing your tutorial, one of the most interesting I've seen lately. I can't wait for my filters to arrive. Thanks, bye
