Can you ground the panels whit a cable down to water ??? Some says to so that ?? Have a Holland steal boat whit 6 7 panels on. And want to grund it down to water. Is that good anof ?? How deep cable need to go if possible??

You don’t want to ground the panels to the water. If yours is a grounded DC system, the negative side should already be connected to the boat’s grounding bus which will be connected to the water. If yours has an isolated (ungrounded) DC system, which it may if it is a metal boat, then grounding the panels to the water may bypass the isolation. Either way, you don’t want to ground to the water. If the frame of the panels is grounded for lightning protection (I have never seen this) the grounding conductor once again goes back to the grounding bus and from there to the water. - Nigel
