Growing up as a kid in the mid to late 90s … Nicholas Cage was a force to reckon with . So many memories : The Rock , Con Air , Face/Off, Gone in 60 Seconds … it was an entire era Then he dipped a little but still came out with gems like Lord of War and The Weather Man This second coming of Nic Cage which I think has partly been fuelled by social media and his own penchant to do whatever roles he wanted is his second era and I for one am fully here for it !!

Back in the day Nick Cage worked as a parking lot attendent and his buddy John who was a guitar player who came to LA to start a career in music stopped by and they were talking about how John was so broke and Nick told John that there was a casting for a role and John was like "nah man, I don't know anything about acting I'm a musician" and Nick basically told him "it's worth a shot what's the worst that can happen?" and needing the money John was convinced and checked it out, we know know that guitar player as Johnny Depp, the musician who got lost on the way to band practice and accidentally became a famous actor. And now you know, the rest of the story.

The people who clown on him only look at the cringy, poor performances and not the good ones. As a Greek I *kinda* need to correct Nic here: the Greek word for the acting profession ("ηθοποιός") literally means "someone who generates ethos", someone who generate ethics. But "acting", as in "acting up", yes, it's "hypocrite" ("υποκριτής")... which of course is another Greek word English borrowed. So, yeah, "actor" isn't a "hypocrite" in Greek, but also, it doesn't translate 1-1 to the what acting means these days. Also, blame me for patting our back, but being "someone who generates ethos" sounds kinda better than "someone who pretends".

As a former co-dependant, and child of a narcissist, who has had a lot of therapy and loves horror-comedy, this movie was a gas. It was fun, and it was over the top in the best places. It was also hella triggering (in a cathartic manner), and its absolutely one of my new top 5s. They touched on the subjects carefully and still got into that beautiful dark humour the traumatised are in love with. My partner and I laughed our asses off throughout, and I demand Nick Cage get an Oscar for his performance. He was so beautifully snide and over-the-top condescending in the most accurate-to-a-narcissist I've seen in a while. The tone and humour in it made the flashbacks easier to deal with 😂😂

4:37 Stephen’s face being schooled on malicious assumptions repercussions haha good stuff
Bad Lieutenant Port of Call N.O. (not to be confused with Abel Ferrara's also insane in a very different way 90's Bad Lieutenant) is easily one of the most insane, hilarious and entertaining movies I've ever seen. I remember Werner Herzog talking about working with Nic Cage on that, and Nic asked him something method-y like, "what's my motivation for being so bad?" Werner's answer was something existential and vague, and encouraged him to just go wild. Apparently after that Nic started bringing in his own props - the electric razor he is shaving with while interrogating an old lady in one scene, etc. I beg everyone to go stream this at once.

Thanks for your continuous love and support. ❤️❤ For how long have you been a fan of mine??
Always have and always will love Nick Cage ❤ also check out that suit! He has kind of a modern goth Vincent Price vibe. Love it.

I don't care if he's crazy, I like Nic Cage. And I'm glad he mentioned Vampire's Kiss, as it's possibly the first movie I saw him in and one of my favourites.

1.) Gone in 60 seconds 2.) Face Off 3.) National Treasure 4.) Con Air/Snake Eyes (tie) 5.) ... literally any of the cheesy c-rated, low budget Netflix movies made in the last 15 years that are excellent for background noise and laughs 😂

I forgot about snake eyes lol...Next is a cool movie too!
One of my all-time favorite actors. He stood out from the very beginning and evolved graciously through his movies. Nothing about him is pretentious. Yeah, Face/Off top five for me, too, as Stephen pointed out. The Cage/Travolta combo was unique, priceless. 🔥🔥🔥
Adaptation will always be my favorite Nicolas Cage movie!

The National Treasure movies were an absolute favourite of mine growing up I can't imagine how amazing those must have been to people of the country there are at least two generations of competitive quizzers in my country who had a fire lit in them by those movies. I've seen The Rock, Con Air and Gone in 60 seconds so many times. Stuck with Ghost Rider mostly cause he was in it. However what I most look forward to is the nonexistent hope that one day there might be a sequel to The Sorcerer's Apprentice.

A little Indiana Jones for a later generations.
Vampire Kiss is masterpiece of acting and im not kidding
My favorite: Moonstruck
The brilliance of Cage is that he may come across as pretentious but you would be mistaken to think he isn’t a professional actor. He researches it and appreciates on a high intellectual level. Cannot stop loving him.
This interview, in 3 or 4 parts, sadly, is one of the best late show interviews I have ever watched. Nicolas Cage has become, like Richard Harris and Peter O'Toole, and some other of the other old time great stars of cinema, a brilliant raconteur. Why some dimwitted critics mock him is beyond me, but a lot of American culture is so lowbrow now. He is absolutely fascinating. And the little preview of his latest movie, where he plays Dracula arriving at a group therapy session for codependents is mesmerizing. Nicolas Cage is a hipster, a real one, they are rare now. I bit of a crush here....
not only is a great actor but he's a genius promoter and advertising man as well...he named the most obscure films most people have never even heard of as his top five nick cage films.
Ghost rider was my first cage movie and still enjoy it regardless of what people think

The Rock, Con-Air, FACE OFF, National Treasure 1... these are some Nick Cage movies that are my favorite. 😊
and.. thats how we forget that Nick Cage is actually a very intelligent person, sometimes he gets overshadowed by the persona that was/is made by entertainment news.
his smile after the clip says it all
I’m so glad Nicholas Cage is back where he belongs! Horror that is humorous and deeply disturbing You look fantastic! Fun interview 😂😮❤❤

Cages' charisma is just the best! In these interviews now, I always think it's the Nick Cage from "the unbearable weight of massive talent" and I'm extra happy for him having a resurgence in popularity. 😂 The cage multiverse!!
This is a master class by Colbert in interviewing. He gets him to open up with psychological precision.
Hearing Nicolas Cage name drop Dwight Frye on late night tv was extremely satisfying to me for some reason.
I met Nicolas during the filming of a scene that was cut from his masterpiece, The Family Man. By met I mean I was used as a human shield by my mom to get through a crowd of admirers to get his autograph. Seemed like a nice guy.
