Nico's album "'The Marble Index" is one of my all-time favorite albums. I consider it a classic. Every song is great, though deep and beautiful. I love it. I can't understand why some people say it is hard to listen to. The legend and her music will live on.

Nico's solo work was always so much more interesting than Lou Reeds. Truely original. Amazing stuff.

Rest in peace, Nico, trans-Siberian, trans-dimensional musician, and mother to a son. Born 1938; granted eternal life in 1988.

Lou reed was so wrong in every way about nico because I feel his American mind could not understand her European sensibility. Reed was a great musician but Nico was an original and a deep thinker but because she was born female and was in a time where women took the back seat she has never got the acclaim she deserved. Her songs are magnificent and spellbinding. Reed 's are pop music. Superior yes but still pop music.

What you say is 100% true...except that Reed's songs are superior to Nico's. Reed's best output comes from the VU, but after that it is a bit shaky. Transformer was okay because of Bowie and Ronson. "Perfect day" sounds just like "Stephanie Says;" it is Ronson's brilliant string arrangements that make it worthwhile. "Berlin" is overstated and melodramatic and sounds a bit "put-on". Nico's lyrics and melodies are more compelling and honest in my opinion. The only problem with Nico is that she is not technically a good musician- a bit like Bowie who is not a great musician but comes up with incredible melodies.

Yes fair point. But it's not her technical skill that I love her for. It's that unique and haunting voice and the beautiful songs she wrote.she was an instinctive musician practically self taught which I think makes her achievements even more remarkable. .FROZEN WARNINGS is a chillingly evocative song and THE FALCONER is hewn from another time entirely to name just two. . To my mind she was a genius but lived such a. Nomadic dissolute life and so far from the mainstream that she has never been easily assimilated. You'll never hear Nico on an a tv car ad. And that's got to be a great thing.

Yes, I agree. I was in fact saying quite the opposite: that Reed's music isn't superior to Nico's even if he is more technically skilled.

Sir, Lou sold dope to schoolkids while a student at Boston College(?) while under the tutelage of one Delmore Schwartz, apoet, to be sure. He also has full-blown hepatitis from sharing dirty needles. Maybe he fired her under such influence of this affliction, non, mon ami?

i wished she had sung Venus in Furs on the lp. Lou`s best albums are New York/ Songs for Drella / Magic and Loss. These are far from pop songs. I totally agree with you Stephen, about his influences/sensibility being completely different from Nico`s, and John`s. It`s interesting to see/hear the terrain/soundscapes Cale was doing before Martin Hannett gave JD that icy detached sound. Imagine 60/40 on the banana lp with Moe pounding it...bliss.

@JaackPat Nope, you're right. She did write the songs on this album. I confused this with Chelsea Girl. Glad to know because I prefer this album over Chelsea Girl. I do disagree that Nico's discography is more interesting than Lou Reed's, but of course it's just opinion.

@SaintSanic Uhm.... no she didn't. Look it up. You'll see that she didn't write those songs and that she even complained about having little contribution to some of her albums (Chelsea Girl being one). I stick by my statement.

personally I think Patrick Wolf's cover version of this is better than this the origional. Just my opinion, on the subject of the song. Yours is not only irrelevant as it has nothing to do with music but is also vulgar, and somewhat aggresive. They really need to ban people for comments like this, I'm sure they occasionally do but I still find them on almost every youtube video I watch. Why?
