Weird question, are people just taking out tank regs when ever? or is it a thing for flying? is there a cleaning or service interval for regulators, standard or other wise?

I’m pretty sure tsa will confiscate them if they have regulators on them so they have to take them off when flying

It’s for flying. It’s a confirmation of the tank being empty for the TSA, they don’t want a high-psi tank on the plane because if, for any reason, it decides to explode, it’s going to at least force the plane to land, at worst, cause the plane to crash.
