Nick Shoulders - ‘Old Plank Road’ - Uncle Dave Macon *cover*
Музыка
Live from the Ozark...well, I have a winter office in town, but it’s still kinda wild. Here’s one from the depths of public domain, played on a Daniel Lewis handmade banjo with Nylogut strings, tuned to double A#. Worth noting: sporting a JD Crowe memorial shirt and a Lostines custom hat (Lostines.bandcamp.com). Uncle Dave Macon, AKA the Dixie Dewdrop, is arguably a time machine of American vernacular music and one of my favorite torch bearers of traditional tunes, and sometimes: his catalogue gets kinda sketchy. As mentioned before, I’ve enjoyed these covers but they often illuminate troubling themes in American trad music, in keeping with that, examining the past with a critical lens can show us how far we’ve come, not just where we’ve been. Originally tunes available on all streaming platforms!

Wtf, this guy has more talent than all the other shit I’ve been finding during this so-called pandemic.
This man is a genuine songbird. Chills every time.
Hot damn son, that some damn skippy banjer there boy.
This mans music hits me at the right time everytime.
So this man plays guitar, yodels, sings, whistles, AND plays clawhammer banjo. Wild.

NICK, I dig your videos. From one banjo picking old punk to another. Stay yourself above all else. I'm gonna look you up somewhere. I saw in that one video a clip of a NOLA street corner in the same neighborhood as BJs backwater bar. Go in and ask for Teal that's a guy I know who can prolly give you a stage.
