Purdy led the league in QBR (72.8), passer rating (113.0), yards per pass attempt (9.6), yards per completed pass (13.9) and passing touchdown percentage (7.0) he’s 19-1 in the NFC west and he’s been to the NFC championship game twice with 1 super bowl appearance. he hasn’t even played 2 full seasons yet, He delivers the ball on time with pure accuracy and is laser focused after making mistakes. If he was a first rounder nick would be in love with this guy. Purdy isn’t elite I get it but bro could play quarterback.

Actually no Nick isn’t “in love with him” because BP has never proven he can win with anything except the NFC pro bowl roster as his teammates. Purdy has a amazing offensive head coach, a stable awesome franchise behind him, the best RB in the nfl, 2 amazing WR, a top 3 TE, a hall of fame LT and a dominant defense behind him. You give that kind of support structure to any QB and they’re going to be pretty good. I’m not saying BP sucks he doesn’t he’s very good I’d say Top 12-15 QB in NFL. The only way he’ll prove he’s the guy not just a guy is if he does what he’s done already with a less than perfect roster. Eventually once the 49ers pay him and they will they’ll have to let a few of his stars go. At that point we’ll see how much of this is on Brock and how much is on the all stars on the team with him. I’m open to all possibilities from Him blossoming into a top 5 QB and winning SBs to bottoming out and being exposed. It’s all on the table. Until he’s able to have an extended run without this much star power alongside him we’ll never really know. He could win 10 MVP and 10 SBs and the questions will remain because they’re not about his talent they’re about his ability to maintain the current level of play given a slightly less favorable set of circumstances

Stroud is more talented physically obviously but he’s on a good roster that has the opportunity to get even better because he’s on a rookie contract! plus they just got diggs. I don’t hear anything from nick but high hopes and praises. Instead of bashing guys for having help like they do with purdy they should be more supportive about it. We are on the verge of seeing Caleb get drafted by Chicago.. CHICAGO of all places. And when he’s running for his life with the bears and his career takes a slow start, nick will come on here and blame the bears for being a bad franchise for not having a supporting roster. Arguments about which QBs go where aside, I think everyone is misunderstanding-perhaps deliberately-the point of the graphic. He's essentially dividing quarterbacks into three groups: the stars, or force multipliers, are those that you can pay big money to (thereby taking money, and star power, away from the rest of the team) and still win, those that can win if they have a solid team around them (which requires money to pay non-QB stars), and those not pictured that can't win regardless of how much they're paid. The middle groups are undetermined which of the three they will settle into. It's not that hard.

Nah he might have been a Shane Steichen product. It’s kinda funny because his career may work out exactly like Wentz’s career in Philly where he had two mediocre seasons followed by a great season that gets him paid big money only to immediately regress back to be being a mediocre QB. Lucky for Hurts that he isn’t hated by his teammates like Wentz was.

Actually, love the graphic Nick. Great point, if you pay the Solid Starts as if they are any of the Stars, then they have to be able to carry the team and push them forward. So for your co-horts, the reason that Pnilly and Dallas can't do anything is because they paid those QB's as if they are stars...and now realize they are not. They won because they are surrounded by hordes of talent. But once you pay on e $200million or whatever the "star" number is, all those stars can't stay. And then what. If you're a star, you keep winning. If you're a solid starter, you probably win regular season but forget about the playoffs. Yup, Nick, sounds about right. 100% with you

Agree with Nick, there are QBs worth the penalizing top QB salary, while other QBs would destroy a team's chances of winning with that same top QB pay, as they need more top talent around them. Purdy hasn't shown that special ability ... he's like a better, more consistent Case Keenum; I'd demote Trevor and Love until they're more consistent; Richardson's too raw to even know if he can be just a good QB. Rodgers on the bottom is just age catching up

Even with Nick's abstract and ambiguous categorization, Purdy should be a "potential star". Sure, we haven't seen him without a star roster, because he's going to enter his third year in the league and has performed exceptionally well thus far - almost like a *STAR*. Whether he'll continue to be one without that roster is unknown, but he's done everything you could expect a QB in his position to do. "Potential" is the *perfect* descriptor for him. We have no idea what he looks like without his weapons (mid-season injuries as an example make no sense).
