My husband took his own life the following month, so over the interim years I hadn't listened to Nick Cave, just too painful. But on hearing this again, I'm taken to an all new place of appreciation for Nick and my husband's love of his art. I think I'll be rediscovering this talented musician - it's time... Takes me back to the winter of early 2005. A blustery, cold, snowy winter that was. I was in Slovakia and purchased this CD, mainly because I thought "Hallelujah" would be a dark, Rufus Wainwright-like cover of Cohen's classic. Man, how wrong I was, and I've never been so happy to be wrong in my life. I spent the subsequent weeks trudging through the snowy streets, listening to this whole album again and again. I then bought his spoken-word album, "The Secret Life of the Love Song/The Flesh Made Word," featuring many of the songs from this album and "The Boatman's Call," listening through headphones, getting stoned on cheap rum and cigarettes in a Slovak dive bar. I still look back on that as one of my life's greatest pleasures.

I was also happy on that first listen to see it wasn't just another cover of Cohen's Hallelujah. I Love Nick cave and the Bad Seeds 😍❤
by the way, many people see this song as one of his best. Nick cave is by MY opinion one of the best artist eva! can't think of anyone els btw
We traveled from Ireland to England to see Neubauten in Nottingham, only to be told they had cancelled due to lack of ticket sales. It was a kick in the teeth. So went to Amsterdam in 2010 to see their 30th anniversary show(s) Was worth the wait.
Yeah, one hell of a song.
Я бажаю усім Миру та злагоди із самим Собою.... І тоді починається те саме навкруги!!! Слава , Україні, та Хлопцям , які її Боронять.
[comment from a son that can't be bothered to log out of his dad's account] That interview at the start is incredible, I can't decide if I should have heard it before or after his hits
There is God and there are musicians like Alex Chilton and David Berman and Daniel Johnston who are secular equivalents if not more. Leonard Cohen Paul Simon Bob Dylan. Nick Cave is atop the list.
Equally good, in many ways better than, the overplayed, over-covered Cohen song. I absolutely love this guy.
ce type est génial!
Nick I miss you.l am sorry
foxtrot hotel, you are the coolest for having a nick cave video and a mr bungle profile pic!
amen to that!
Wow.
aarrrrrr..... the young are starting to discover art........ Nick Cave, the badseeds, birthday party, boys next door............... oh cripes I'm old...... Nick rules digger, that's all you need..........
A new learning for me.
R.I.P. SIR BAABERT HACKINZ!!!
I listen to this song every May 1st =D
wow, Warren with no beard, and Blixa. Nick Cave's cover of Tower of Song turned me on to both Nick Cave and Leonard Cohen, so I was expecting something different here, but how cou7ld I be disappointed with what I've found here?

Does anyone know what performance/gig this was taken from?
There isn't much better than this
I tracked down the info: 2001-04-12 Glasgow Scotland
Love, death, God and Ode to Viceroy!
Wow
Wow, I didn't recognize his speaking voice.
Love his versions better. JMO! Love Cave!
For the Hows Familly!
Does anyone know where that interview is from?
Warren Ellis is such a strange looking and beautiful man.
What year is this?
Snap, i would trade all the Nick Cave concerts i've been to, to see Neubauten live. No offence to the Bad Seeds, just Neubauten don't tour here lol. Oh yeah The Weeping Song isn't the same without Blixa neither are the Bad Seeds.
💔💔💔😢
would you happen to know the date/location of this show?

I think somebody further back in the comments was able to ID the show. I just ripped it from a DIVX website before it shut down.

it was filmed in Glasgow in 2001 for a TV show on Scottish television called, I think "the Box", probably around the time he played Barrowlands that year
