He was so handsome, with such a beautiful family. So sad. I can't describe how I feel every time I watch something on this, it's just so violent and unnecessary to have killed this family. I think he would have went away quietly, and lived the rest of his days a happy family man, a commoner with a beautiful family.

What a beautiful family. His mother looks lo calm warm and gracefull. Im so happy she took part in the kids grown up and played with them. Looks like thay had a lot of love for one another. So much love Nicky gave to his family. I just simply adore this family. I really understand why Alexa fell in love with this handsome man. She made a perfect choise. Just cant help to wish a little i was borned in this era. With this dashing and handsome men and pretty dresses.

@D.J. Konrad No man should have to deal with the boatload of problems and personality issues that she had. Especially a leader of such a large nation. Nicholas' choice of her as a wife and sovereign started a looong downward spiral in his life. He should have listened to his mother on this one....

This just shows Maria (Nicholas II's 3rd daughter) looks a lot like Nicholas. She has the strongest resemblance to her father compared to her siblings. Spitting image. Female version.

Monarchy is the natural form of Government. There were plenty of countries in the British Empire for them to have been exiled to, so there was no need for such a tragic end! May the current Imperial family be restored to their throne.

The fate of the last Romanov generations have extremely beautiful, tragical and cruel aspects that seem to me like a metaphor for Russia and it’s people. It’s often said, that the poverty of the people and the hard decisions of the Government has led to the murder of the Emperor and his family. What has it solved? It would have been hard enough for them to get banished, but killing the whole family, two of their servants, the chef and their doctor? There’s no excuse for inhumanity.

I was about to write that, she was the most beautiful out of all the girls.She had an angelic face and now I can tell she gets it from her father.

I read somewhere he was murdered because the powers of the world wanted his money, that he was the richest man in the world at that time.

That is very close to the truth, but the main reason was to divide Russia to spheres of influence between the rest of the world's great powers.

What these photos don't show is that Nicholas had very blue eyes. He must have been strikingly good looking with his eyes and dark hair.

It's sad to see a photo of ANY child and know that in their future they would be murdered endlessly and so cruelly. Grand Duke Misha was murdered equally cruelly, by the same people practically on the same day. Why was he not canonised? Why were all the other young Romanovs, mostly of the Konstantinovich branch who were murdered with the Grand Duchess Ella, not canonised as well? It's a mystery....

Yesterday, I ordered the book from a bookstore in Rockdale NSW. They said it might arrive tomorrow. Can’t wait.

The Romanov Royal Martyrs, it is extremely appalling how the filthy soviet communists justify the horrific murder of the royal family, including the kids. Surely, the tsar might be incompetent but that does not make him an evil person. You can see in his eyes the kindness and faith which was felt my his immediate family. Reading some comments in reddit, it does occur to me that the barrage of lies against the royal family initiated by the commies poisoned the minds of the narrow-minded. How could someone compare Nicholas to Hitler and Stalin?

Hello Heather! Yes, our book is being reprinted every time a print-run is out of sale, so it should be around for a good while! As for bookstores, that is quite difficult. The logistics of such a task are really hard. In UK, however, there are a few bookstores that have it, especially big ones like "Waterstones".

Nicholas II and his family should be sainted by the Orthodox Church.

What happened to Nicholas' brother and sister? Were they executed during the revolution as well?

His brother Michael was executed in Perm. They are still searching for his body. The sisters escaped Russia. Olga eventually ended up in Canada after several moves.

@@catpers1000 One of Nicholas's brother were killed during the revolution. He was assassinated 1 month before the Emperor and his family. I don't believe Nicholas knew his brother was killed. His other two brothers died prior to the revolution. George died as a young man in the late 1890s, due to illness. His other brother died as an infant. His mother, and two sisters escaped, though just in time. Lenin had long planned for all Romanovs to die. It was rumoured the Bolsheviks were on their way to Dagmar, her daughters and her daughters children to kill them. But they were liberated just before this could happen. The day after Nicholas and his wife, children and attendants were massacred, many of his cousins (including at least one set of brothers) and the Emperors widowed aunt by marriage and sister-in-law Elisabeth (Empress Alexandra's sister) were also murdered.

Last Romanovs leaved a life more sticked to Europian royal families neither their own people of their country. The gap between the nation and the thzar's family brought them to the collaps.

No one has played the most sensitize Tsar appropriately, I don’t think. Didn’t the Dagmar have a dimple on her chin?

@jennifer Cuddy The Turkish actor Kivanc Tatlitug greatly resembles Tsar Nicholas. He would be excellent in the role. Kivanc played in Kurt Seyit and Shura, in which he played the real life Russian officer Kurt Seyit Eminoff, who fell in love with a Russian aristocrat.

Nicolas II was Alexander III’s son not Alexander II’s son.

It is Tsar Alexander II with his son (at the time Tsarevich) Alexander III, with the mustache standing above his wife who is holding their son, future Tsar Nicholas II, on her lap. So, it is Tsar Alexander II with his family, his son Alexander III and grandson Nicholas II present.

His mother (The dowager empress marie) fled to denmark and his sister xenia fled to England with her children. The Tsar’s youngest sis, Olga was in georgia 🇬🇪 at the time but she fled to denmark and moved in with the dowager empress until her death in 1928
