    Where do you leave the bike once you get into the museums etc?

  • @januslog

    @januslog

    Жыл бұрын

    That depends on whether you want to stop or continue using them. If the museum is just a stop you can lock the bike and continue using it after you’re done. Otherwise you return the bike to a nearby station and rent another one later

    Little known fact the city of Nice houses the largest Russian Orthodox cathedral outside Russian territory, the Cathedral of Saint Nicholas and Saint Alexandra built by Tsar Alexander II in memory of his son the Tsarevich Nicholas who died of meningitis in 1865 in Nice, where the imperial family spent its holidays as every year many sovereigns of Europe especially Queen Victoria.

    Incidentally, the county of Nice was part of the Kingdom of Savoy-Piedmont and was only definitively attached to France with Savoy during the reign of Napoleon III in 1861 after its cession by the Kingdom of Piedmont only"in return for the French support for the reunification of Italy against the occupying power in Italy, the Austrian Empire but before Savoy and Nice had been conquered by France during the revolution and were already French from 1796 to 1815. Mazzini and Garibaldi Italian patriots who advocated Italian of Italian unity both born in Nice under the reign of Napoleon I are therefore French by birth!

    Thank you for this insight. The Italian history of Nice is really interesting

    Yes Nice was never technically part of Italy because "Italy" as a country didn't exist at that point. It should be pointed out that the people of Nice got to vote whether they wanted to join France... but it's well known Napoleon had soldiers with bayonets at the polling stations to ensure people did not accidentally vote the wrong way. Phillip.

  • @domitiusafer

    @domitiusafer

    @@philliptemple9841 Indeed, technically, Savoy and Nice have never been part of present-day Italy since the treaty of their cession was concluded between France and the kingdom of Piemont-Sardinia in 1858 before the Italian reunification under the aegis of the king of Piemont-Sardaine Victor Emmanuel.In fact, the king of Sardinia-Piemont , king of a state with populations of different origins and different languages, exchange with the French conquests in Italy with the French populations of the kingdom of Piemont-Sardagne with to unify Italy and become king of this country No, no need for the French to use the baionnettes because there has always been a pro-French party in the region especially in Savoy because Savoy was often invaded and occupied several times during the previous centuries by the French because it corresponded to a part of the former Transalpine Gaul compared to the Cisalpine Gaul (Piedmont also occupied by the Gauls before the Roman conquest ) The Duke of Savoy Piedmont had already ceded part of his land to France during the Treaty of Utrecht in 1713 and then during the Treaty of Turin in 1760. Nice and Savoy with Monaco will be attached by the French Republic to France during the period of the Napoleonic Empire. The language of the inhabitants of the Duchy of Savoy is historically Franco-Provençal. The inhabitants of Savoy are not mainly opposed to the attachment to France especially since Napoleon III conceded many tax advantages The case of Nice is different because it was initially part of the county of Provence before being attached to Savoy to the late 14th century and its inhabitants are more reluctant to join France especially since Mazzini and Garibaldi cantor of Italian unity were born in Nice (but also like Napoleon’s marshal, Massena). It is King Victor Emmanuel who will ask the inhabitants of Nice to vote in favor of their attachment to France and to sacrifice themselves in the name of"Italian unity because of this attachment was conditioned according to the Treaty of Plombières in 1858 between France and Piedmont, the retrocession by France to the Kingdom of Piedmont of Lombardy and Veneto ceded to France by Austria after the defeat of it-this facing France during the war of 1859-1860.Besides the common language; there have always been very close links between France and Savoy which has long been a vassal state of France Thus, ex one of the most famous French knights Pierre du Terrail dit Bayard who was famous at the end of the 15th century and at the beginning of the 16th century under the reigns of the kings of France Charles VIII, Louis XII and François 1er began his career at the court of Savoie before joining the French army.

    @@philliptemple9841 Yes, everyone was so incredibly happy to be "considered" French that, indeed, even 11 years later, in 1871, the Vespers in Nice never happened 😂😂😂 And the French government had been able to manage the situation in the area only by the army, again, as usual. The Niçard Vespers (Italian: Vespri nizzardi; French: Vêpres niçoises) were three days of popular uprising of the inhabitants of Nice, in 1871, in support of the union of the County of Nice with the Kingdom of Italy. The irregularities in the referendum voting operations in 1860 were really incredibly, astonishingly evident. The case of Levens is emblematic: the same official sources recorded, faced with only 407 voters, 481 votes cast, naturally almost all in favor of joining France. 😂😂😂 The French government implemented a forced and militarized policy of Francization of society, language and culture. As well as certain surnames, for example the Italian surname "Bianchi" was francized into "Leblanc", and the Italian surname "Del Ponte" was francized into "Dupont". 😂😂😂 That part of Europe has always been Italian. Even before the official existence of Italy. It has always been Liguria. It was Liguria already 3.000 years ago, before the Roman Empire, for example. From Etruria (Tuscany) to Spain. Everything has always been Liguria. And Ligurian people. And it was Liguria during the Roman Empire as well.
