Niagara IS the most talented and famous pop french band from the 80s. The music videos made by Daniel (the guy from the band) are always great and different, and you can saw the evolution of the music/lyrics and videos by the time.

80s music are dominating, we loved to see it. That being said, this song is good. The synths and the melodies are excellent, and I think give me a few listens, and I would like it even more 💙

Niagara is one of the pillars of french "pop rock", with Rita Mitsouko. I think you'd like to try more Etienne Daho synth's too, he was a DJ when he was young... "Duel au soleil" "Week end a Rome", he's got a couple of hits...

The title of the song is the French title of the movie "The asphalt jungle" and it is an allusion of Marilyn Monroe (who stars in the movie) of whom Muriel is a very big fan (her stage name is Muriel Moreno which is an anagram of the name Monroe).

I understand your reaction, there was 80's Niagara, more mainstream, then this amazing LP "RELIGION", with singles as "J'ai Vu" you already loved, I love this one too, cos of memories in my parents car maybe, but the best ballad in my opinion, coming from the same album is the track called "Pendant Que les Champs Brûlent" (While the fields are burning), and you will need the translation to appreciate that. Kisses from France

It's a more laid back song from Niagara. For me, it talks about fleeting relationships and the impermanence of love. It doesn't have the dancing or impactful quality of other songs by Niagara, but is powerfully evocative. (Also, Muriel is stunning in it, and for an hormone crazed 13 years old boy like me, it was a big plus XD)

Muriel Moreno. My teen crush. 😍😄 Beautful girl. This is early 90s she's probably in her early 60s now. The band acts like "Sandra and Michael Cretu." The guy with the guitar in the background is the engineer behind all of their albums she's more like the "front girl" but the band wouldn't work without "her voice and her face" kinda like Sandra. Unlike them they weren't life partners. After they splat in the mid-90s they disappeared. She is very private and avoid the medias. I have heard that she was an off and on DJ and a yoga teacher. She doesn't like media exposure. Beautful Muriel. I hope she's doing well.☺️ Regarding the song I understand what you're saying yet again I wish you were a French native speaker. Listening like this seems meaningless but the lyrics makes it all worth it. Translation or transliteration doesn't give justice to the lyrics in my opinion but nothing we can do about it. Thank you. Derreck@

I love it but i'm a child from 80's so it's talking to me. Might not be objective enough. Now, despite being very "classic" for this era, I still think the ladie's voice is gold and they did a few interesting thing in the middle of the synthe.

I know that song well and I like it a lot. One of their slower more catchy ones, perhaps less 'special' than the other ones your reacted to, so that's why you didn't like it as much. I had a never seen the video. It's a little quirky but she does look very good in this one for sure

What a shame you didn't fall for this title. But I can understand, and for once, I think you have to understand French to appreciate all the poetry. A sweet and salty sweetness. We can only regret the end of this charismatic and inventive group. They had gold in their hands but they made another choice just as respectable. I love this title and this clip.

Hi Dereck! Thanks for your react on Niagara. You wanted a Niagara song that was a ballad, you got it! Too bad you didn't approve. I find this title very good! Moreover, as it is the last extract from their first album, for the 45 RPM release, it was reworked musically and also "re-sung" by Muriel. On the disc, it is well specified "new version" (new version) and rare are the radios which diffuse this version preferring the album version. This version can be found ONLY on their first compilation "Flammes" released in 2002 and on Spotify. Maybe listening to this song over time will make you appreciate it or maybe its "Maxi Version" will give you another taste of this track with some additional changes (additional "sounds") from the 45 RPM version. Maxi Version (audio) : kzread.info/dash/bejne/X2uOpaOhlaW1h7A.html This song " Quand La Ville Dort" (When The City Sleeps) was released in the spring of 1987 as the fourth and last single from their first album "Encore Un Dernier Baiser" (One More Last Kiss) in a "new version" (reworked music, re-sung by Muriel) and ranked no.7 for 2 consecutive weeks in TOP 50. It evokes an atmosphere of a night giving free rein to their emotions and their inspiration. This is one of the "radiophonic" songs very often broadcast on the radio (rarely the "new version") and also for the music video often broadcast on TV channels. Besides, the songs from the group's first album are among the best and advertised by the public in the 80's. In addition, this CLIP has more than 10 M views on KZread ((even their other songs don't exceed this figure!) even though it is not their biggest/huge hit of the decade. I think what must have "marked" it is the clip and also Muriel who appears in a sexier way but also the aesthetics of the vieoclip produced most often (ideas) by Daniel Chenevez who is very attached to the image (He was a bit like the Laurent Boutonnat of the group) as well as Muriel "Moreno" (anagram of Monroe Marilyn) Laporte for her clothing tastes, even sometimes provocative because she was considered a sexually liberated woman of the 80's. Besides, you will notice it as the clips go along, but also during the second "90's" decade. The good thing about this band is that most of their music videos in 30+ years haven't aged much and haven't become "kitsch" or "cheesy" like some others. I recommend you other songs from them for example taken from their second album "Quel Enfer!" (What Hell!) in 1988: "Assez!" (Enough!) or "Flammes De L'Enfer" (1989) with many brass instruments and for 90's: Pendant Que Les Champs Brûlent" (1990) or "La Vie Est Peut-Etre Belle" (1991) taken from their third album "Religion". Thanks for your great work our Frenchie American mate.👍 🇫🇷
